Between The Roses

Human Interaction Part One

After three full weeks of being forced to be on bedrest, I was finally able to leave the house to see if I can be free again. My legs were crossed at my ankles as I sat on the exam table in an exam room. Andy sat next to me, lounged back with his legs extended fully in front of him. In a few moments my doctor will come in, check things out and hopefully tell me I can go back to normal. I shifted in my spot and bit the inside of my cheek. Surprisingly I had not felt sick at all. When my mother was pregnant with me, she was apparently constantly sick for the first few months. But me, I have not been sick once. The door opened and in walked my doctor. She was smiling and held a clipboard.

“Good afternoon Mrs. Biersack,” she greeted me and I smiled at her.

“Afternoon,” I responded and she sat down on the doctor’s stool.

“How has the last three weeks been?” She looked at me.

“Really boring,” I chuckled.

“Well considering what kind of person you are, I’d expect nothing else. But you understand why I ordered the bedrest, right?” She asked.

“Yeah,” I muttered and she nodded.

“Alright, can you please lay back and uncover your stomach?” She asked I nodded as I laid back and moved my shirt. Andy shifted next to me and when I turned my head he was standing beside me.

“Have you had any kind of ultrasound yet in the pregnancy?” She asked me and I shook my head.

“Nope. I found out I was pregnant when I passed out three weeks ago,” I said and she nodded.

“Alright. This is going to be a little cold,” she warned me before squirting the weird blue gel onto my stomach. She then put the wand thing onto my skin and I immediately looked up at the screen.

“Okay. See this little black blob?” She pointed to the shape.

“Yeah?” I asked.

“That would be your baby,” she smiled at me and I stared at it. Somewhere in my chest I felt something weird happening.

“Alrighty, everything looks okay. I looked at your blood levels and you are in the clear and are normal. So, you do not have to be on bedrest anymore, but, you do need to take it easy throughout the pregnancy. Understand?” She asked as she handed me a towel to wipe the gel off.

“Of course,” I smiled and she nodded at the two of us.

“Do you want pictures?” She asked and I looked up at Andy. He shrugged and I smiled.

“Yes please,” I told her and she nodded before leaving the room. I sat up and couldn’t help but feel myself smile. Before today I had only sorta believed I was pregnant, now, after seeing the ultrasound, it’s all so real. I felt Andy put his hand on my shoulder and squeeze. In response, I just gently rested my cheek on his hand and took a deep breath. There were still tears coming out of my eyes but I didn’t care because this time it wasn’t because of anything bad happening, it was something good and I was a little overwhelmed.

The door to the room opened once again and my doctor walked back in with an envelope.

“There you go Sadee. Go talk with the receptionist to make another appointment for a month from now. Call me if you have any questions,” she smiled before leading us from the room. As we walked, I entwined my hand in Andy’s and rested my head on his shoulder. He quietly kissed the top of my head as we got to the desk.

“Hello, what can I help you with?” The receptionist asked me with a smile.

“I need to schedule an appointment with Dr. Parksley for a month from now,” I told her and she nodded as she typed in the computer.

“Can I have your full name and date of birth?” She asked.

“Sadee Biersack, 10-3-1991,” I said to her and she typed.

“Alright, we have an open time slot on August 4 at 1130 in the morning,” she looked up at me and I nodded.

“That sounds fine,” I smiled and she nodded at me as she typed.

“Alright,” she paused as she handed me a paper. “If you could just sign this sheet for insurance purposes.”

“No problem,” I said as I signed and handed her the paper back.

“Okay, we will see you in a month,” she said and then both me and Andy turned from her. Andy wrapped his hand in mine once again as we walked. Neither of us spoke a word, not because we were upset, but because we were so content and happy that we didn’t have anything to say.

When we reached the car and climbed inside, I glanced at my phone. Immediately I furrowed my eyebrows and unlocked my phone. I had thirteen missed calls from Callum and two from Matt. What the hell is going on? I switched over to my voice box and clicked on the first message.

“Sadee, please call me back. Something happened and we need to speak with you,” it was from Matt.

“Sadee something happened to Zara you need to get up to the hospital now,” that was from Callum.

“Wait,” I said as Andy went to turn the car on.

“Why?” He asked.

“Something is wrong with Zara and Cal said to go to the hospital,” I explained as I climbed out of the car.

“What?” He asked. I shrugged and closed the door before making my way towards the ER entrance.

“Sadee, wait,” I heard Andy call but all I could think of was getting to the ER to find out what the hell was going on.

“Sadee, please. Your doctor just said to not put yourself under any stress, she could be fine, just, wait,” Andy rambled on and I stopped walking to let him catch up. When he did, he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and the two of us began walking towards the doors. Andy was right, I shouldn’t get myself worked up and stressed out without knowing what was going on. The second we walked into the ER, I immediately saw both Cole and Callum. Callum looked up from his lap and his eyes landed on me. When I got to the waiting area, I looked between Callum, Cole, and Matt.

“What the hell happened?” I asked.

“We’re not really sure, all we know is that she almost overdosed on Oxy,” Matt spoke up first and I looked at him.

“She overdosed? Since when has she ever done drugs?” I asked.

“Sit down Sadee,” I heard Andy suggest beside me. I continued to stare at Matt and Cole as I took a seat.

“I came home from work and saw her slumped over at the kitchen table. For the last few weeks she’s been really distant and not really herself. I’m not sure if that’s when she started or not, but, the sight of her like that was something of a nightmare,” Cole explained and I nodded. I leaned back on the chair and crossed my legs at my knees.

“Has anyone contacted Chris?” I asked.

“He’s back there with the doctors right now,” Matt told me and I nodded. I don’t know why or when Zara started doing drugs but when she comes to, she is definitely going to hear it from me.

Notes

New chapter for you all. I hope you enjoyed it. This is part one of this, the second part will be posted sometime soon. Something happened in my personal life that is really taking up a lot of my time and energy so it may be a little while before I can post another chapter.
