Between The Roses

Give Me A Sign

Sitting in a conference room has never been fun, not in the five years I’d been dealing with record labels. It is especially not fun when it is hot outside and the air conditioning is not turned on at all. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and sighed. It was me, Brett, and Aidden alone in the room while we waited for the big wigs from Atlantic to introduce us to our new touring manager and to meet a potential guitarist. Over the last few weeks it was meeting after meeting to finalize dropping Zara and Callum from the band and the label and then making plans for a new record and me taking some time off because of being pregnant. Today was supposed to be the last meeting for a while and of course they decided today was the day to take forever to meet with us. Another sigh left my mouth as I shifted again.

“You okay there Sadee?” Brett asked and I sighed once more.

“It is hot in here and I am uncomfortable, they really need to hurry up,” I told him and he chuckled.

“I’m sure they’re almost here,” he tried reassuring me but I just shrugged it off. Aidden shifted in his seat and looked at the ceiling.

“I heard they got Celeste Page to be our touring manager,” he suddenly spoke and I raised an eyebrow.

“And who is that?” I asked.

“Only the best manager a band could have. She has worked with a lot of famous people who all gave her raving reviews,” he looked at me.

“How many people has she worked with?” I asked.

“If you are trying to think that she won’t be reliable because she’s been with a lot of people, you shouldn’t. She works with people until it gets to a point that her family is put second, at that point she then parts ways because her family is her number one,” he told me and I nodded.

“I like the way that sounds,” I smiled and he chuckled.

“She’s awesome. I’ve met her twice. The girl is pretty damn awesome,” he told us and I chuckled. Then the door to the room opened and in walked a mass of people who all then took their seats around the table.

“Good afternoon guys. Sorry that took so long, we were just finalizing some things on the papers before heading in here,” the person under the CEO told us and we all nodded. “Okay, so you guys are looking for a new touring manager. You no longer need to look. We have someone who is perfect for you guys.”

“Please tell me it’s Celeste Page,” Aidden said and I shook my head with a smile on my face.

“It is. She will be in here in a few minutes, her daughter called her about something. Now, Celeste is very much willing to work with you guys and I seriously think she is a perfect fit,” he told us and I nodded.

“How so?” I asked.

“Well, Sadee, you told me multiple times that you will still do the music, of course, but you are always going to put your family first. When I told Celeste about that, she told us she wanted to meet you guys. She also puts family first,” he explained and I nodded. The door behind us then opened again and I heard someone walk in. When they came into view, I was surprised at what I saw. She was beautiful, her blonde hair was flowing and she looked pretty damn hot.

“So sorry about that guys, Mikayla stayed at a friend’s last night and wanted to know if she could stay another night,” she told all of us before sitting.

“That is perfectly fine. Guys, this is Celeste Page,” Michael, the person below the CEO, introduced us.

“Hi, I’m Sadee Biersack,” I smiled at her and she nodded before moving her eyes to Brett.

“Brett Cooley, it’s very nice to meet you,” he said and then she looked at Aidden.

“Aidden Stiles and might I say, I am a pretty big fan of yours,” he smiled at her and she chuckled.

“Well thank you. I’m a pretty big fan of Falling For Fatality so, I guess it goes both ways,” I said and I smiled.

“Okay, band, we really just need the okay from you to sign her up to being your touring manager. What do you say?” Michael asked.

“I’m perfectly okay with it,” I told him and both Brett and Aidden nodded.

“Okay, we will get that all figured out after this meeting. Now, let’s meet a potential guitarist for you guys. This man sitting next to me is Colt Calvillo. He has worked with Atlantic for many years tracking guitars for solo artists. But he wants more, and I think he fits right in with you guys,” Michael introduced us to a potential guitarist.

“Hey,” the guy waved and I smiled.

“Do you know our songs?” I asked.

“I do actually,” he chuckled nervously.
“He is a very talented guitarist,” Michael was really trying to sell this guy to us.

“I don’t know about these two, but, I would need to hear him play with us on a song or two before I could make a decision on if he works for us or not,” I said and Brett nodded.

“I feel like that’s the only way to know for sure,” he said.

“I agree, but I’m new to the band too so, I think we should do it,” Aidden explained and Michael nodded.

“There’s an open studio down the hall, why don’t we head down there and do a song or two?” Michael offered and I nodded. The room then stood and all filed out and down towards the open studio. I crossed my arms over my chest as I walked and let out a sigh. As we walked, I noticed that someone had walked up next to me.

“It must be really difficult to be doing this kind of job while pregnant,” a voice told me and I looked over to see Celeste. A smile formed on my face and I shrugged.

“It is, especially with it being the middle of summer and sitting in meetings all day, but hopefully this is the last one for a while,” I spoke back and she nodded.

“I believe it is,” she chuckled as we got to the studio. Time to see if Colt really does belong with us.

Later That Night
----------------------

My feet throbbed and my back screamed at me as I walked down the stairs towards the living room. After a long day at the label and singing to see if Colt fit with us, I was completely and utterly exhausted. When I walked into the living room, I saw Andy sitting on the phone with someone looking a little confused. As I sat down next to him on the couch and looked at him, he sighed.

“I guess I can meet with her tomorrow. No it’s fine. I’ll bring Sadee with just in case. Yeah, bye,” he said and then hung up. When he set his phone down on the table he rubbed his hand over his face and leaned back into the couch. I had turned so I was sitting sideways on the couch with one leg bent under me.

“Who was that?” I asked.

“Jon. The label wants me to do a song with Juliet because she’s been asking,” he said and looked at me.

“And? You’re gonna do it right?” I asked.

“Probably,” he said.

“So why do you look so irritated?” I asked him as I squinted my eyes.

“Because it’s not working with Juliet that irritates me, it’s the label constantly asking me if it’s alright, knowing my past with her. That’s why I said I’d bring you with tomorrow,” he said as he dropped his arm to his side, it landing on my knee.

“Oh, well, I am happy to go. I’ve actually been talking with her recently about writing some songs together,” I smiled and Andy nodded.

“She does know we’re married and are having a kid right?” He asked. “Out of curiosity,” he added.

“She knows we’re married yes. But about me being with-child, I’m not sure. It hasn’t ever come up in conversation so,” I shrugged and then shifted so I was laying down on the couch on my back with my head in Andy’s lap. He unconsciously began running his hand through my hair.

“Gotcha. So how was the studio today?” He asked.

“We met our new touring manager, who is fucking fantastic. And we auditioned a possible new guitarist. I think that the label is meeting with one another to decide if he fits with us. Which he does, so,” I shrugged again.

“Would you care about coming to the studio tomorrow after my meeting with Juliet?” He asked.

“Of course not, you know I’m up to going to the studio,” I smiled and he chuckled.

“I know, but Jake basically forced me to ask you. He wants you to do some vocals on the record and I said I’d ask,” he said and I closed my eyes and sighed.

“Why not?” I chuckled and then the two of us got quiet, just sitting there comfortably after a long day. I’m only 22 weeks pregnant, but it feels like so much more and I seriously don’t know how I make it through the day half the time.

Notes

Brand new chapter including a brand new touring manager and a possible brand new guitarist! All sorts of new things happening!!!

Also, based on the whole news of Andy and Juliet getting married this past Saturday, I decided to bring Juliet back and not make her a complete bitch. Like seriously, I felt bad about it before, but now I just feel like a terrible person.

But I do send my congratulations to Andy and Juliet and I am soooo happy for them!
