Wolf

Light of the Full Moon

Andy eventually managed to fall asleep on the soft carpet that covered the floor of the living room. In the meantime, Ashley went to clean up the dirt that was tracked in by his new companion. How could he be so unlucky to get such a stubborn mate? How was he expected to put up with this behavior?
Now that he saw Andy's true colors, there was no doubt in his mind that he really did bite Benjamin. Great, so his mate wasn't just stubborn, but he was also aggressive. What would this do to his image? Ashley looked at the sleeping boy on his carpet and rolled his eyes, going upstairs to prepare a guest room.

There was no way he was going to trust him in his room just yet.
While Ashley was upstairs, Andy opened an eye, looking around to make sure he was gone. He stood and walked to the door, stopping. Where was he...? He went back inside and found Ashleys laptop, opening it and furrowing his brow. Now.. How was he supposed to use this weird thing?
Andy looked at the letters. "How do I use this?" He poked the screen, gasping when the screen changed. Woah... Humans had magic?! He saw a microphone icon and poked it curiously.
"Hello, Ashley. What can I help you with?" The words read. Andy blinked and read the name on the screen.
"Cor... ta..na.." He sounded out slowly. The letters appeared on the screen as he said it and suddenly there was a weird beep.
"Yes, what can I help you with?" A robotic voice asked. Andy gasped.
"Are you in the screen!?" He held up the laptop and shook it. "Oh! Oh! Do you know where my pack is?! Can you hea-"

"What do you think you're doing?" Ashley suddenly spoke up. He'd been at the bottom of the stairs the whole time, watching. Andy startled, setting the laptop down immediately and shutting it.
"Nothing!" He bat his eyelashes.
Ashley rolled his eyes and walked over, taking it away, and then went to shut the door. "Trying to run away, huh?"
"Who, me? Never..." He waved his hand dismissively and looked at the laptop. "So.. why is there a lady in there?" He pointed to it. Ashley covered his mouth with his free hand to keep from laughing.
"There- There's not." he cleared his throat. "It's just a program. Not a real person."
Andy frowned. "Oh."
"And this is a touch screen. Not a magical tablet." Ashley said as he put the laptop away.
Andy frowned more. "Well thats not fun."
"No one said humans were fun, Andy." Ashley sighed.
"Then come back and live how you're supposed to! Live like a wolf! That's way more fun!"
"We can't, Andy." Ashley ticked his jaw.

"Of course you can. Whats keeping you here? A nice house? You don't need to worry about any-"
"We can't, Andrew, now will you drop it?" Ashley snapped, face red. Andy flinched.

"I... I'm sorry." He looked at his lap. "I just want to go home." He added after a brief silence.
Ashley turned to look at the obviously distressed boy on his couch and sighed. "You are. This is your home."
"It's not." Andy glared daggers. "It never will be. My home is with my family- with my mom, and my dad, and Joey and Maggie and Kyle-"
"Who?"
"My.. little brothers and sister." He looked out the window. "They need me."

Ashley ticked his jaw and walked over, kneeling in front of him grabbing his face to make him look him in the eyes.
"What your siblings need is for you to respect the pact made by our ancestors and honor your tribe." He hissed. "If you have any self-respect, then you'd understand that. I don't want to hear any more damn whining from you, or I'm canceling dinner. Understood?"
Andy didn't answer, looking away. Ashley pulled him back.
"I said, is that understood!" He snapped.
Andy squeezed his eyes shut and nodded, finally getting released from Ashleys grip. He stood and walked silently upstairs head down and arms wrapped around himself.
"Oh, stop that. You're acting like a baby." Ashley rolled his eyes. "Grow up, Andrew."
"What do you expect? I just got taken away from my family, and you're expecting me to be happy about it!?"
"I expect you to at least act like you belong here!" Ashley barked.
Andy stared, eyes glassy. "I.. I don't belong.." he squeezed his eyes shut tighter, going up the stairs faster, skipping steps until he was up all the way.
Ashley sighed, going up halfway. "No- Andy, I didn't-" His words were cut short by Andy finding his room and locking the door behind him. "Shit..." He rubbed his eyes, leaning on he wall. "I didn't mean it like that!"
There was no response from Andy. Andy was in the corner of the bedroom, looking around. Everything was so new and weird and he was scared... He was coping the only way he knew how; he curled up in wolf form. Ashley came up with the master key, unlocking the door and looking in the dark room.
"Andy? I know you're in here.." He sighed, looking in the closet. "Where the hell did you go.." Ashley muttered, turning and seeing the little white ball in the corner of the room. "Oh." he frowned. "Well, I'll... leave you alone." Ashley left the room, cracking the door open before going back downstairs. He sat down on the couch, looking at the ceiling.
It wasn't long before Andy started to pace. The carpet felt so foreign to the pad of his paws. It felt nothing like the rough, rocky, muddy trails and the grassy fields he was so accustomed to. He pawed at the material a bit, sniffed it and even rolled around on the floor to hopefully get a bit more used to it.
Ugh. Just as weird and scratchy as ever... With a huff, he got up and walked downstairs, shifting mid way.
Ashley looked up, thinking it was best to not bring it up. "Hey. Dinner is on the table for you." He nodded to the dining room. Andy looked and walked to the room, sitting at the table. What were these?
He picked up the fork and the knife, poking the steak. He leaned forward and sniffed it, smiling a bit. It wasn't raw, but it smelled good.
He used the new (to him, anyways) utensils and started to nibble at the food, eating half of it before he decided he didn't want anymore. "What do I do with-"
"I'll take care of it. You can go to bed, if you'd like. I have some things I need to do and then I'll be heading to bed as well." Ashley called from the couch in the other room. Andy nodded and went upstairs, laying on the bed for a while, eyes fixed on the window. His eyes widened when he saw the moon, rushing down the stairs and pressing his face to the glass of the glass french doors that led to the balcony.
Everything downstairs was dark, only lit by the moon. Just like his home... He pushed the doors open slowly and tentatively shifted, his fur lighting up in the moonlight just as it always did.

Ashley, at this point in time, was in his own bed, laying on his side and staring out the window as well. He closed his eyes, a faint, even fond, maybe, smile on his face as he fell asleep to the sounds of the white wolf howling at the moon.
