Wolf

Stranger in a Strange Land

"Bring him in." Andy heard the silky voice loud and clear, despite the cloth thrown over his kennel to hide him from the public eye- and, Andy assumed, to attempt to keep from hearing the conversation between the two men that carried him. That was silly. "Finally. This bitch is heavy." The smaller one sighed, setting him down with the help of the larger man. Andy glared at the silhouette of the smaller man. Wolves had better hearing than humans, did they think he was deaf or something?
"That's enough, Benjamin." The same smooth voice dismissed. "You and Daniel are free to go now."
"Yes, Ashley." The husky voice belonging to the larger man, presumably Daniel, said politely and Andy could hear the thud of footsteps grow quiet as he left.
"Yes, Benjamin?" The voice sighed, showing the slightest hint of irritation.
"They bit me." Benjamin complained, showing his wrapped hand.
"I'll be sure to deal with that later, now go, please."
There was no further speaking, and the door finally shut. Andy listened, not moving a muscle. Was he alone?
That question was answered for him as a large, masculine hand lifted the white sheet up, setting it on the top of the crate. Next, the hand unlocked the door and pulled it open for him.
"C'mon out.." the voice coaxed him out. Andy didn't dare look up. He didn't want to admit surrender to this cruel system of taking him from his home and throwing him into the paws of the rival pack! With a huff, Andy stood and stepped out, eyes closed stubbornly. He suddenly startled at the unfamiliar surface, hitting the kennel and knocking it over. The sheet fell on top of him, covering his tense body. "Aw.. you're so cute. I can't believe Benjamin says you bit him."
Andy opened his eyes slowly, glaring at the man from under the sheet.
The man wasn't as funny looking as the two he first saw. This one was slightly tan, perfectly sculpted facial structure, eyes the color of honey... His eyes suddenly widened when he saw where he was. Well- he had no idea where he was, but he knew this wasn't a settling ground.
The mans eyes widened as well, as he had realized that the creature before him was the most beautiful wolf he had ever laid eyes on. Despite the poor front hall lighting, the delicate white fur still seemed to glow and the eyes... Oh God, the eyes were bluer than the bluest jewel imaginable. They seemed to twinkle with life, sparkling, almost. "Oh my.." He breathed, kneeling down and removing the sheet from the wolf. "I was told you were pretty, but never did I imagine you to be so... angelic..."
Andy stared at him. Who was this man? Was this to be his mate?! He glared and looked around, trotting around him and going to explore the strange new place.
"You're Andy, aren't you..? From the Biersack clan?"
Andy stopped and looked over his shoulder. He shifted for the first time in months, standing to his full human height. His hair, unlike his wolf fur, was a long, snarled black mess. His eyes were the same piercing blue, but a bit cloudier. His lips were perfectly plump, a small ring placed on the left side of his lower one. Ashley gaped. Not only was his mate a gorgeous wolf, but also just as beautiful as a person.

"Whats it to you?" Andy finally spoke, his voice hoarse from not being used in a while.
Ashleys face fell. So his mate had an attitude, it seemed.
"I'm Ashley Purdy-"
"Alpha wolf of the Purdy Clan, yeah, yeah, I got the whole speech when I was four." He glared. "My mate-to-be, I've been told?"
"Why- yes. That is correct." Ashley furrowed his brow and eyed his supposed mate. As gorgeous as he was, the attitude was quite the turn off. Not to mention the filthy appearance his human form maintained in the current moment. "Before we discuss anything further... I'm going to have to ask you to bathe. I can't have you getting dirt on my furniture and carpet."
Andy stared, dull. "Seriously? I've barely been here for three minutes and I'm already being told what to do." he rolled his eyes. "Fine. Where is it."
Ashley rubbed his eyes and led him to the bathroom, turning the faucet on. "I'll leave clothes outside the door for you-"
"Clothes?" Andy stared.
"Yes, Andy. Clothes." Ashley sighed, shutting the door and leaving some clothes where he said they'd be.
Andy sat on the edge of the white bath tub, stubbornly getting in when it was full. It felt nice, but he refused to accept that he was being forced to 'conform.' He looked around the bathroom and saw a small dish on the edge of the tub, holding a mint green bar. He tilted his head, curiosity getting the best of him as he took it in his hand.
"Oh!" he squeaked as it slipped out of his hands and under the water. He dove his hands under, grabbing it. Right as his hands closed in around it, it slipped away again. With a stubborn huff, he snatched it again, pulling it above water before it could get away again. He sniffed it curiously. It had been a while since he'd last eaten... This didn't look like it was poisonous, and it smelled interesting.
He tentatively licked a few bubbles off the bar, tasting it and giving it a second. Yuck, what kind of food was this? He wrinkled his nose. Well... Usually it took a full bite to get the full taste.
Andy shrugged and bit off a chunk, chewing it twice before suddenly spitting it into the water, pale and eyes wide. That was disgusting! He threw the bar to the floor outside of the tub and took a mouthful of bath water, trying desperately to get the taste of his mouth. It tasted so bitter! Did people really eat these?!
After he got rid of the taste, he got out and got the clothes from outside the door. It took a while for him to figure out what went in which hole, but he figured it out eventually. He came downstairs in he large black tee shirt and sweat pants, hair dripping on the floor.
"Better?" he glared.
Ashley looked up from his newspaper and sighed. "Yeah.. Now, come sit?" He folded the black and white paper in half and placed it on the glass coffee table before him. Andy reluctantly sat beside him, crossing his arms.
"So what the hell is the deal?" He glared.
Ashley's jaw tightened. "First of all, do not speak to me like that. Understood?" He said tightly. "Secondly, as you may have guessed, my pack lives among humans."
"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock." Andy snorted. Ashley ignored it and continued.
"A couple years ago, my pack was discovered by the hunters and we were driven from our homeland. No matter where we went, they always found us. It turned out that one of the wolves in the pack had betrayed us, acting as a spy, you could say. I still don't know why but... they're no longer part of the clan. That goes without saying- but back to the point. This was the only sure way to keep my pack safe and alive."
"By becoming one of them!?" Andy burst.
"Look at you right now, Andy." Ashley glared. "What are you? You're human. Sure, you're more of a wolf than you are person, but that doesn't make you any less capable of becoming one. We were granted with the ability to be one at will, and its a gift that my pack has learned to appreciate greatly. I live now as not only a leader, but a wealthy, successful business man, and I expect you, as my mate and future husband, to uphold that same civilized image."
"No." Andy said simply and stood, looking around. Ashley narrowed his eyes, watching him as he picked up an orange from the table, licking the outside and wrinkling his nose. "Does anything taste good in the human world?"
"That's an orange, Andy. You can't eat the outside." He rolled his eyes. "What is that supposed to mean, anyways? What else did you taste?"
"The green bar in the bath tub." Andy blinked. "I think its spoiled, by the way. It tasted really bad..." He looked around for something else to try. Ashley rubbed his eyes.
"You didn't- You're kidding... Here." He got up and handed him an apple. "Have an apple. I'll go get you a towel to dry your hair."
Ashley left him for a few minutes to go get a towel to do just that. When he opened the door, he nearly burst out laughing. When Andy said he had tried the soap, he didn't think he meant actually tried eating it.
Yet, there on the tile floor, was a green soap bar with a chunk missing in the corner. A quite big one, too... He picked up the bar and threw it away, draining the tub before digging out a towel. When he turned, he saw the chewed up soap traveling towards the drain with the rest of the dirty water. Ashley rolled his eyes, trying to hide his amusement as he went back down.
"Andy, what- what are you doing?" He groaned, looking at the thin boy sprawled in the middle of the rug.
"I'm tired." He muttered, facing away from him. Ashley dropped the towel by him and sat on the couch again.
"Fine, then. Take a nap." He waved his hand. "We can continue the discussion later."
Andy looked at the towel and used it as a pillow, picking at the rug silently. How was he supposed to adapt to this?

No- how could he be expected to accept this?
