Kissing the Concrete

Chapter 60: Chewing Gum

Andy's P.O.V.

My heart was broken, but I knew it would be fixed as soon as Iris would be back. She would be. She just needed time.

I had not been feeling well the past few weeks. My entire body missed her, and it had hurt so much to watch her leave. The only thing that kept my hopes up about everything was the fact that she would be back, soon. Yet I would not stop feeling empty inside from the heartbreak. It was difficult. She had put a huge stain on my heart that was impossible to rub off, but it could easily be covered by her presence with me. She wasn't here though. She needed time.

Since the break-up, the band had played one show. Usually, shows were the one place for relief from these kinds of things. Once I stepped on stage, I could let out all my bottled-up emotions and scream for life, whether it was for happiness, sadness, anger, misery or joy. A show was like an almighty drug, flushing through my veins in one single heartbeat and easily making me relax, curing every single worry. But this time, it was different. I felt empty inside, and my emotionless state was pretty noticeable from the audience. That was why Ashley rushed to talk to me, an eye for an eye, the second my foot stepped of the stage.

"Dude, what the hell was that?"

"I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it today man..." I said, almost sighing.

"Wasn't feeling it? Man, when you're not feeling it, you might miss a few lines and almost break down during the sad songs. You were barely fucking doing anything, you looked tired the entire time and missed 50% of every song!" He yelled. "I was the fucking stand-in singer having to patch everything together."

"I don't even care anymore."

"Is this still about Iris? Dude, she broke up with you, get over it. You dated for like two months, it's not a divorce. You need to get out there and get laid."

"She just needed a break, she'll be back. She said so."

"That's what they always say. Then they meet some other dude and say bye bye forever. You need to meet new girls. Anyone here would love to get in your pants!"

I sighed. Sure, that's what the ladies-man would say. I only wanted Iris. But could it be true, what he said?

I was sitting on the couch, playing with my phone when the doorbell made me almost jump off it. Quickly running to the door, my heart raced hoping it was Iris. Opening it, I was faced by Lexi, with her blue hair, nose ring and ever-so-present chewing gum.

"Hey Andy." She said, chewing loudly.

"Hi...Lexi."

"So...Ashley told me you were single...what do you say?" She said, her thumb rubbing the black leather jacket I was wearing.

Fucking Ashley. Never listens to me even for a second.

"What do you mean "what do you say"?" I asked.

"I never stopped loving you Andy."

I shut the door, walking back to the couch and sat down. Lexire-opened it not even a second later and followed me.

"Don't do this Lexi..."

"I can feel it Andy! It isn't right between us! I love you, and I know you love me too!"

"You cheated on me."

"I was high! I didn't know what I was doing!" She almost yelled.

"You knew exactly what you were doing."

"Please Andy. I want you..."

My hand moved across her cheek removing a blue strand of hair from her face.

"Lexi, I don't love you."

"You know you've missed me. I can feel it."

In that movement, she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me. I didn't kiss her back, instead, I pushed her away.

"My heart belongs somewhere else. Please don't do this."

In the corner of my eye, I could see Iris standing by the open door. Tears formed in her eyes.

Notes

This really needed an update, but my internet sucks right now. The website deleted my last chapted though, that I felt was better to be honest.

Been working on a new story called "2341 chords" if you want something else to read. First chapter was uploaded last night

Thanks for reading and all the lovely comments! I really appreciate them!
