If Hell were any Closer

Chapter 14 part 1

Nikki's POV:

I haven't seen Andy or the others all day, choosing to spend my day nursing a rather intense hangover with episode of Friends and tea. It proved to be quite beneficial actually, and I snuggled under the blankets, mindlessly texting Cassy and Lily while the TV played. Yet through all of that, one thing never left my mind; Andy's mysterious note.

He didn't leave a location or a time, and left the whole thing feeling open and surreal. I thought maybe he'd text me sometime during the day, but no such luck.

By now it was nearing dinner time, and I quickly tossed a light salad together, still fighting waves of nausea, but I still watched my phone for a text or call from a certain dark-haired boy. By eight o'clock and three seasons of Friends later, there was still nothing. Considering I was still aching, I decided a little extra sleep would go a long way, since I also had school tomorrow. Yay.

It was around eleven that I heard the first thud, echoing throughout the dark house. I unconsciously clutched onto the blankets, my heart pounding in my chest as i reached to switch a light on. It wouldn't turn on though.

Fuck. Okay, no need to freak out, Nikki. Probably just the light bulb blew or something. There's no freaky murderer lurking in the halls. Everything will be fine.

I threw the covers off of me, grasping onto my hone like it was a life raft as it created a small beam of light. At that exact moment, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, casting the dark house in a brief moment of extreme light. The rain seemed to pound down upon the windows even harder than before, making the sound bounce off of the walls around me.

My breathing increased as did my heart rate, as I made my way into the dark halls, clutching onto my phone for dear life. Then i hear it again, the loud thud. Followed by a string of incoherent words. There was someone in the house.

I sucked in a quick breath as I crept along the walls, my eyes lurking into the shadows, half expecting for someone to jump out at me. But nobody did, and I made it downstairs, into the kitchen. The side door was wide open, swinging frantically i the billowing wind, and I rushed to shut it, my heart pounding in my chest.

I took a deep breath and I grabbed a hold of a knife, wielding it in front of me precariously. i didn't want to use it, but I would if I had to.

Another streak of lightning illuminated the room, and I saw his shadow, flitting across the wall. i sucked in a breath to scream, when the intruder suddenly made an appearance. Andy.

"What the fuck?" I swore, setting the knife on the counter with a 'clang'. "What do you think you are doing here, scaring me half to death? I hissed.

He wobbled on shaky legs, his hair messier than usual, "I missed youu! Besides, you have a prettty house," he slurred and I rolled my eyes. Great, he's drunk.

"Out," I snapped, pointing to the door.

He pouted, "don't be like that babyy. i loveyou! Besdies, you wouldn't want me to drive home would you?" He asked innocently, his lip ring between his teeth.

I scowled and he smiled, he knew he had won. "Fine!" I snapped, turning to march back upstairs.

He stumbled after me in the darkness, finding sudden amusement in his feet. "Where you?" He whined, tumbling through my doorway.

I glowered at him from my spot on top of the covers, huffing as i snuggled into their warmth. The blankets were suddenly jerked away from my small body as he got in causing for me to kick out at him harshly. How dare he think he can sleep in the same bed as me!

"You're not sleeping with me. Get out."

"But where would I sleep then?" He grins.

I roll my eyes, "on the floor asshole. Now go," i shoo him away.

But he resists, "nope!" He pouts adorably.

"Ugh, fine!" I throw my hands up in exasperation. I turn away from him, scooting as close to the edge as possible. I can feel my eyelids beginning to grow heavy when a voice breaks me out of my haze.

"What?" I groan, wanting nothing more than to go to sleep.

But his next question makes my heart stop.

Notes

I actually hate this chapter with a fiery passion. I feel like it sucked in all honesty, which is why it's a two-parter
sorry :(
