Love or Infatuation

"Sam say something." Andy requests due to the long uncomfortable silence between us.

"So what you're saying is I'm Sabrina the teenage witch and you're Edward Cullen?" I ask sarcastically.

"Sam can you please stop joking around?" He asks.

"How Andrew? You're talking about things of fairytales."

"Your birthday's tomorrow right?" I nod. "Stay with me all night, in the morning you'll see your true form."

"Fine... Wait did you really have this other so called girlfriend?"

"No, I was just covering my tracks. Kat knows I'm a vampire because... Well she'll tell you."

"Why can't you?"

"It's not my place." The bell rings. "You need to go talk to Kat. Meet me back here after school."

"Why? Are you not going to class?"

"No, I'm covering my ass." And with that, he's gone.


Okay so he didn't break up with me, which means I'm dating a crazy person. He must be insane if he believes in all that make believe bullshit. I mean, I understand why he's a vampire. He has pale skin, dark hair, wears black all the time, and have mesmerizing eyes. But how am I a witch? I don't shoot magic out of my fingertips from just a twitch of my nose. Andy must be crazy, that's the only logical explanation.

I'm not going to class, I can't. This whole situation with Andy is wrapped around my neck and is choking me internally. One more second without answers is going to kill me. I have to find Kat and ask her. She's the only one I can trust to tell me the absolute truth.

I enter the building and run down the halls to her class. I knock on the door and Mrs Johnson answers.

"Um the vice principal needs to see Kat Wilson." I say.

"Did the office not give you a note to give me?" She asks.

"They said it was an emergency, something about her family." I really hate this teacher.

"Okay, Miss Wilson to the office."


Kat walks out and stops at the end of the hall.

"Why'd you pull me out of my class? I thought you hated me." She asks.

"I don't hate you, I hate how rude you were being of Andy though. He's my first real boyfriend, and he told me to come to you for answers." I say.

"Answers about what?" She asks.

"This is going to sound insane, but he told me that he's a vampire and that tomorrow I will be a witch."

"Finally!" She takes my arm and pulls me out of the school. "I've been waiting seventeen years for this!"

"You're crazy too."

"I'm not crazy, it's the truth. You're a witch and I'm a shapeshifter."

"You mean like that blue woman from the Xmen movies?"

"Except my true form isn't blue. Take a guess of how old I am Sammy."

"I don't know, 64?"

"I'm 673 years old."

"Bullshit."

"I am Sam. I've been waiting centuries for you to be our queen and saviour."

"Queen? Saviour?"

"Yes. It says in the prophecy that you will become the most powerful witch to walk upon the earth. That you will rule as the queen and saviour of the dead."

"You mean like queen of vampires and things?"

"Yes Sam. You will queen of vampires, ghosts, werewolves, shapeshifters, zombies, and all sorts of other creatures."

"This is nonsense Kat, you can't actually think I would believe all of this."

"You really don't believe me do you?"

"No."

"Fine, I'll prove it to you. Pick someone you want to see right now."

"Andy."

"An obvious choice, but okay."

Kat backs up, cracks her knuckles and wiggles her shoulders. She takes off her jacket and hands it to me. She closes her eyes, covers her heart with her hands, and tilts her head down. I hear her whisper something in a different language, I think it's Latin, and then smoke emerges around her. A quick wink blows the smoke away and Andy stands in front of me.

"That's not possible, you two planned this." I say.

"We didn't plan anything Sammy."

"Prove it, turn into me."

She redoes her steps from before, and she prevails. There I stand in front of me. Well technically it's her, but she's telling the truth. She even got the little birth mark on my shoulder.

"Change back into yourself." I request and she does.

"Do you believe me now?" She asks.

"Yes."
