Runaway
I walk up to the place and straighten my shirt. I run my fingers through me hair and walk in. "Andy! You're back!" Juliet says wrapping her arms tightly around my waist. She smiles up at me and I fake a smile, holding back all I want to say. Holding back that I was leaving her. I couldn't do that yet. Not here. Not now. Not in front of all her family. She grabs my hand and let's go of my waist. "Come on. I want you to meet some people." I need to get away and tell somebody. I see Ronnie and my chane to get away. "I will be right there. I just need to ask Ronnie something." She nods and kisses my cheek. She walks over to a table and I walk over to Ronnie.
"Can we talk?" I ask. "Yeah sure." He stands up and we walk out the back, and sit on the staircase. I take out cigaret and light it. I take a long drag and Ronnie just watches. "I'm leaving her. I'm leaving Juliet. For Taylor. I'm leaving her tonight." Ronnie nods. "What's the plan?" I shrug. "Well what you should do is pack you're bags in the middle of the night, take her out, tell her the news and then leave." I nod. "Where am I gonna go though?" Ronnie smiles. He pulls out a pair of golden keys. "Taylor always loved the beach house. She never wanted to leave when we'd all go up there. You two can go there." I smile, take the keys, and pocket them. "Thanks man." He nods. "No problem." "Where were you for those two hours?" Ronnie asks. "Um I went home then I went on a run, then I went Taylor's house." Ronnie laughs. "Wow. Wow Andy. Smooth." I roll my eyes.
We walk out after I smashed my cigaret. I walk back over to Juliet, anticipation building in every step I take. I just want to leave. To go and be free with Taylor. Juliet smiles up at me and grabs my hand. I sit down and slip on a fake smile, wanting this stupid party to be over.
Later after the party…
We get home and Juliet crashes. I silently start packing. I grab the keys to my muscle car and walk to the garage. I pack all my stuff in there. I walk back upstairs. I walk silently over to Juliet. "Juliet?" She opens her eyes. "Hm?" I smile. "Come on." She sighs, gets up, pulls on pants and shoes, then we get in my car. I drive to the park, where I first told her I loved her. I grab her hand and drag her to the fountain. We sit and I look her straight in the eyes. "Juliet, I'm leaving. I just can't do this anymore. I thought I was ready to be married, but I was wrong. I'm so sorry." She starts crying. "Go. Just go." She says. I try to rub her back. "GO!" She screams, tears flowing. I get up and walk to the car. "Have fun with your whore." I feel my throat constrict but keep walking.
I pull up at Taylor's apartment complex. I fly up to the window and tap on it. She walks over in shorts and a crop top. "Hey." She says, her voice raspy. I kiss her lips. "Let's runaway. Together. Just you and me." She smiles and nods. I climb in and help her pack her things. She pulls out a piece of paper and a pen, scribbles something down on it, and leaves the room. She comes back climbs out the window, with some of her bags. I follow with rest. We shove them in the trunk and back. She pecks my lips then climbs in passenger. I climb in next to her and pull the keys out of my pocket. She smiles brightly and kisses my cheek. She pulls our her phone. I look over and start the car.
T: Thank you so much for the keys!!!!!
R: No problem! Don't leave a mess though!
T:okay!
"I love you." She says. The first actual sentence she's said all morning. "I love you too. I love you so much." She interlocks our fingers. "Forever and always?" "Forever and always," She smiles. "My baby you'll be?" I laugh. "My baby you'll be." She smiles and kisses my cheek, then leans head on my shoulder.
