On thin ice

On my own

Andy's POV:
I could tell that today was going to be a bad day the second I stepped off the bus. How? Well, the second my foot hit the pavement, a rock was flung at me, almost hitting my face, but hitting Sam in the head. "Fucking asshole..." I heard her grumble. I could tell that it hurt her, but she didn't let it show. She's always had a 'tough girl' reputation, due to the fact that when the Preps beat her up, she always fights back until she can't fight anymore. This makes her a popular target for them. We both walked through the maroon doors, to English class. We had almost all the same classes. My parents had requested for this, due to her physical anxiety. If I'm not with her at school, she may look fine, but she gets extremely claustrophobic and has a panic attack. This happened one day when I was home sick. She had to be sent to the hospital because she fainted. I also have to be there to make sure that random people don't touch her because of her haphephobia. The only class that we aren't together in is her orchestra class. She has Jinxx, Avril, and Ocean in that one. I don't take any music classes. We sat down in the back of the class, next to the window. She also has to sit near the window because of her claustrophobia. We pass notes back and forth, joking around the whole hour.

~time jump!!!~

Sam and I meet up after her band class to go to lunch. We walked with Jinxx, Avril, and Ocean to the cafeteria. We sat at a lunch table in the far corner of the lunchroom, next to one of the big windows. It's the Outcast table. I made sure Sam has a seat next to the window, then sit next to her. "So! How's your guys' Monday." Avril groaned. She was usually bubbly and happy, except on Mondays. "Meh. My flute, Sebastian, was being a little bitch today in orchestra." Sam mumbled. I chuckled. She names every single instrument that she owns. "You're lucky that you don't have to be first chair violinist... I have to make sure that I'm always in tune, or I throw everyone in the violin section off." Jinxx mumbled. "Hey! It's just as hard for first chair flute! I'm always tuning!" Sam snapped, giving Jinxx a death glare. Oh shit... "Hey, both sections have their ups and downs. At least you have cool parts..." Avril soothed. "What are you talking about Avril?! The Harp parts are so beautiful! The fact that you switch between harp, drums, and electric guitar on a daily basis is amazing!" Jinxx said with admiration coating his words like honey. Avril laughed and blushed slightly. After this argument, the rest of the group showed up. Ashley sat next to Ocean, who had been quietly eating her vegetarian chicken sandwich that her parents made for her. Soul Glow plopped down next to me with CC next to him, talking to him about AP physics. Jake sat next to Avril and Jinxx, and started talking about music stuff. I looked at Sam, and noticed that she wasn't eating the lunch that mom had packed her. "Sam, why aren't you eating?" She looked at me, obviously annoyed by my question. "I'm not hungry..." She grumbled, taking her song notebook out. "But you haven't eaten since yesterday..." I said softly. She looked up at me with the look of death in her hazel eyes. I took that as a sign to shut the fuck up. Everyone, except for Sam, talked about school, the fact that we were almost done with it, music stuff, and playfully argued over different bands. "So, do you guys want to hang out after school at my house?" Soul Glow chimed. Is he ever not hyper? He's like CC, but southern. "That sounds like fun!" Jinxx said with the same amount of energy. Jake, Ashley, Avril, Ocean, CC, and I all said yes, but Sam stayed silent. We all looked at her. "Are you coming too, Sam?" Soul Glow asked cautiously. She looked up at us, then sighed. "Sure. I'll come." She said, finally smiling for the first time that day.

Notes

For people that don't know, Haphephobia is the fear of being touched. Human touch to be specific. It is a very rare phobia, which is why most people don't know about it. I actually have it. It sucks.... Just imagine that every time someone touches you with out being prepared for it, you have an uncontrollable panic attack and you feel like crying. Even when you do prepare for human contact, your skin crawls and you just want to run away. Some have it worse. The more you know, the more you grow! :)
