On thin ice

Sam's POV:
I woke up gasping for air and a light layer of sweat covered my ivory skin. I sat up in my bed as I felt tears running down my cheeks. I tried to be quiet, because Andy was sleeping next door, but I started to sob. My parents death happened when I was twelve, and now I'm eighteen. I just couldn't stop having the same nightmare every night. I was too busy sobbing to notice Andy opening the door. He rushed to my bed and held me, just like he did so many years ago. "Sssshhhh... Sam, everything is ok... I'm here... I'm here..." He whispered as he rubbed my back. I started to calm down as he continued to whisper softly in my ear. After a while, I was just sniffling. "Better?" He smiled as he gently lifted my head so I was looking at him. "Yeah. Sorry if I woke you up..." I mumbled. "It's fine. I was already up. You know how my insomnia is." He chuckled a little. When ever he laughs, you can't help but smile. "Yeah..." I looked over at the clock to see that it was four in the morning. Might as well get up and get ready for school. I got out of bed and walked over to my dresser. I grabbed my favourite Metallica shirt, black skinny jeans, and my favourite black hoodie. I shooed Andy out of my room so I could get dressed. Even though he's seen me naked before, doesn't mean I was ok getting dressed in front of him. We weren't like that. He was like a brother, since his parents let me move in with them. I quickly got dressed, did my hair, then lined my eyes with a layer of eyeliner. I slipped my black converse on and sat down in the living room. A few seconds later, Andy showed up. He was wearing an alkaline trio shirt, a turquoise plaid long sleeved shirt, black skinny jeans, and red converse. Of course, like the dork he was, his eyeshadow matched his shoes. I laughed quietly as he just stood there, with a derp face. He then turned on the tv to watch Batman. Good thing we both were obsessed with Batman, else he would have driven me insane. Like Ashley and his unnatural obsession for Hello Kitty.
After two hours of watching Batman, it was almost six-thirty, which ment we had to go to the bus stop. I swiftly picked up my Nirvana backpack, he clumsily grabbed his KISS backpack, and walked to the door. "Goodbye kids! Love you both!" I heard Andy's mom, who I called my own mom now, call from the master bedroom. "Bye! Love you too!" Andy and I yelled in unison. We both joked around as we waited for the bus, then got on it when it came. We both put our earbuds in to listen to our music. I sat there, listening to Misfits until we arrived at the living hell called Irondale High School.
