Rise From the Ashes

*flashback*

Violet's POV:

"Mom! I'm home! Guess what, I got back that science test, and I'll have you know I aced it, so i guess you were-" I paused as I entered the living room.

"What's going on?" I asked, my lower lip quivering slightly at the weapons on display before my young eyes.

My mother's head snapped up from its bowed position, and a wild look took over her usual kind eyes. Her movements were frenzied and jerky as she attempted to rush in front of me, "Violet! Go! Take Evie and get out! Run as fast as you can, baby," she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.

I sucked in a quick breath before responding in a shaky voice, "whats; going on?"

And then he strode out of the shadows, his left fist clenched around the gun handle directed at my mother. He had the audacity to chuckle at my terrified expression, "well, well, I suppose this is Violet? Such a beautiful girl, your father told me so much about you."

Despite the terror uncurling in my gut, I managed a snarky remark, "that's not true! my father's never seen you before in his life. Now let my mom go," I demanded.

His smirk grew on his face, "my, such spark. Despite your very persuasive methods, I'm afraid I cannot do that sweetheart. And don't even try running, we wouldn't want you to end up like your dear father, now would we?"

And then he stepped aside, revealing my father, lying at a bent angle on the floor, his body unusually pale and a large pool of blood surrounding him. His eyes remained unblinking and held a dead sort of effect to them. He was gone.

"No!" I screamed, lunging forward only to be harshly tugged back, and brought o my knees, a small, cool object pressing against the back of my neck threateningly.

My mother thrashed about on her place on the ground, she was screaming and yelling, trying to either get to me or her deceased husband. But then she was silenced, by a loud, ungodly sound echoing blankly throughout the remnants of my home.

Right in front of my eyes, my mother was killed. No, she was murdered.

I cried out in agony and I keeled over at the sudden burst of pain in my chest, the sudden absence of my parents casting a deadly weight upon my fragile shoulders. Get to Evie, I just had to get to her, and everything would be okay. Find my sister,and I could survive this.

"Where is my sister?" I shouted throughout my misery, and William only smiled coldly.

"Oh I knew I forgot something. you, go find that little brat," he snapped at a guard, his voice dripping malice.

I heard a small scream that could only belong to my baby sister and i went into a frenzied rampage. I thrashed about and jerked my limbs out, kicking and hitting anything i could get my hands on, which quickly resulted in my hands and feet being bound together roughly, the ragged rope digging into my soft flesh.

The guard returned holding a kicking and screaming bundle by its long blonde hair, and my eyes instantly recognized her as my sister. I lunged forward despite the rope's nasty bite, and was immediately tugged back into place. I was only half aware of a sharp stinging sensation in my neck, registering it only as a needle of some kind, but my focus remained on my sister.

William smirked cruelly, before giving the signal, and the guard swiftly slid the knife into his tiny neck, gliding it across the flesh smoothly. I closed my eyes when a soft thump entered my senses, and my stomach clenched.

"Now that all distractions are out of the way, care to answer some of our questions Violet Black?"
