Our Family

"Jack Daniel Anderson get your pale ass down here right now!" I hear Jack's mom yell, waking both me and Jack up.

Fuck, I fell asleep. Dad's gonna be so pissed. Jack gets to his feet, puts a pair of sweatpants on, and runs out of the room. I grab my phone, ten missed calls, and over seventy new text messages. Fuck my life! I look over the messages, most go like:

Dad: Hey it's pretty late, where are you?

Dad: Lily, you need to come home now.

Dad: I get it, you're with your boyfriend/best friend, but you need to come home now.

Dad: Lily get the fuck home right now!


I sigh and get up from the bed. I look in the mirror and quickly fix my hair before Jack calls my name to come downstairs. And then I see him. Anger flaring from his orbs. His nose scrunched up and his arms crossed. I sigh and keep my eyes to the ground.

"I'll see you Jack." I say softly.

"I'll see you on Tuesday." Jack says just as saddened.

"Come on, let's go." Dad says cruelly.

We both leave the house and the ride back home is completely silent. As soon as we get home, I try to run upstairs, but I'm pulled by the wrist tightly, and I look at my dad in the eyes. I feel his harsh breaths against my face, his grip only tightens as we stare in silence.

"You're hurting me." I barely whisper.

"You don't know what pain is! You are my only little girl and when you go on your disappearing acts, it kills me! For all I know you could have died! That's pain!" He shouts, I twitch at his words. I want to run away from him and lock myself away. This is anger in a whole new way, and mom's not here to calm him down.

"I didn't mean to disappear, I fell asleep." I say, but he only squeezes tighter.

"Yeah at your boyfriend's house, and you're wearing his clothes." He points out.

"I didn't fuck him!" I yell, he lets go of me.

"Then why are you wearing his clothes and why'd you fall asleep?"

"I'm not talking to you until you calm the fuck down!"

"Don't you dare speak to me with that language in my house!"

"What are you gonna do, huh?" He slaps me across the face. I stare at him shocked, he hit me. He holds his hand to his chest and looks at me.

"Lily I'm so sorry."

I run upstairs and lock myself in the bathroom. My dad bangs on the door, trying to get in. I look in the mirror, my cheek turning a deep shade of red. I can't believe he hit me. He's never laid a hand on me, but he just slapped me. Tears start pouring down my face. I curl up in a ball in the tub. I take out my phone and call my uncle CC.

"Hey little biersack, what's up?" He asks.

"Dad just hit me, and I'm scared to leave the bathroom." I say through sobs.

"Shhh sweetie, I'll be over in ten minutes, just stay in the bathroom." He says.

"CC, who are you talking to?" I hear uncle Ash ask.

"It's Lily. Look Lily, me and Ash will be there in ten minutes." CC says.

"Thank you." I say and hang up.

I'm so thankful to have uncles like Ash and CC, I know they'll be there for me no matter what.


Ten minutes later, I hear the doorbell ring. They're here. I hear shouting from downstairs and stomping up the stairs to the bathroom door. There's a small knock and I rise from the tub.

"Lily, it's Ash, can you unlock the door?" He asks. I hesitantly moved towards the door and unlock it. I open it and my uncle Ash greets me with a hug. "Are you okay?" I shake my head. He picks me up and carries me downstairs to the front door. My dad stands there, yelling with my uncle CC about me.

"Ash, can we get out of here?" I whisper in his ear. He nods and carries me out to the car. He puts me in the backseat.

"I'll be right back, okay?" He asks and I nod as he shuts the door.




Andy's POV

"Andy how could you? She's your daughter! She's a she! You can't hit a girl! What the fuck is wrong with you?" CC yells at me as Ash slips upstairs.

"I don't know what came over me! I was angry! I didn't mean it! Now she won't come out of the bathroom." I say and CC sighs.

"Well she's not staying here tonight." He says.

"What?"

"She's staying at my place tonight, she's scared of you Andy."

"She's my kid, she's staying." Ash carries Lily downstairs to the door.

"You can't hit her and expect her to not react!" CC says.

"I didn't mean to!" I shout. Ash carries her out and walks back in.

"Andy man, you need to calm the hell down." Ash says.

"Ash you know I didn't mean to do it, I'd never intentionally hurt my babygirl." I say.

"I know, but you need to calm down." Ash tells me.

"I need to call Jules." I say taking out my phone.

"Dude don't, you don't want both women in your life mad at you." CC says. I put my phone back in my pocket.

"Guys please don't take her away, I want to apologize and make it up to her. Please." I beg.

"Andy, we'll make you a deal. We will take Lily for an hour, she gets to choose to stay here for the night or not. Does that sound good to you?" Ash asks and I nod.

"Just tell her I love her." I say and they both nod.

"We'll call you with the answer." CC says.


Ash and CC walk back to the car and I take a seat on the porch step. They both jump out the car and run back up to me. With shocked expressions, they stare at me silently.

"Guys, what's up?" I ask.

"Lily's not in the car." Ash says.

"Now this is her disappearing act." I say and they both nod.
