Free Bird

Ashley made us spaghetti and got the first movie we have ever seen together. It was super sweet, and we have been able to avoid the elephant in the room. Once the movie was over we just turned on some stupid cartoon called Uncle Grandpa, damn cartoons have gone to shit since I was a kid. I glance over at Ashley and see he's looking right at me.
"Babe? You okay?" I ask
One look at his brown eyes and I know my suspicions were true, he blames himself for what happened last night and it's killing him. He goes to speak, but I put a finger over his mouth.
"Don't. Do not start apologizing to me. Last night was amazing, and yes we forgot to us a condom, but it was an accident. You have not ruined my life, granted having a baby before I could legally drink was not in my plan, but neither was falling in love," I pause and make him look at me so I can see those brown eyes that make me melt, "Ashley, you mean the world to me. You saved me from myself, from my past. I never thought I would fall in love, let alone with one of my idols. This past year with you has been better than every other year of my life. Now, yes I know we can't not stress about it, but we will know in a few days. If I could know right this moment Id be at the store, because if I am, you have no idea how excited I will be. NEVER apologize to me for this."
He sighs and pulls me closer. I wipe the tear that he tried to hide but escaped.
"Neva, I love you, and this is not me apologizing for 'ruining' your life, but I am sorry that your life will now be harder. When we find out, and if you are, I will be by your side every moment that I can, and I know that you live on campus, and you can continue to do that if you want, but my house is your house. I can help you get that car you have been saving up for so you can get around. You will not be alone in this, and I hope you would want to keep it because I have been thinking about it all day and I wouldn't be able to part from my child."
"Of course Ash, I was worried you wouldn't want to with your career. It's been running through my head that I will be ruining your life with the band."
"Neva, Neva stop. The band will always come second if it involves you, dont tell them I said that." he laughs at the end
"Your secret is safe with me." I laugh as I lean and kiss the man I love.
