Free Bird

Few weeks later...

I was on my way to my late night shift when my phone rang. It was an unknown number and I was debating on answering it, but then decided I have nothing to lose I might as well. So I answered.
"Hello?"
"Who's this?" I ask
"Um. I'm Amelia. My professor gave me this number and said to call it if I was ever feeling down?" she answers in a nervous tone
"Oh, hi. Yea I asked her to give you my number, shes kind of my mom, long story. But I'm headed to work if you wanted to stop in, we could talk."
"Oh, uh where is that?"
"The coffee shop a couple blocks from campus."
silence.
"Hello?"
"Sorry, it's just. I work there too."
I stop, Stop walking. Stop talking. But my brain goes 100 mph.
I know her, not personally but Ive seen quick glimpses of red run out the back door. I can't believe all this time, wow. By this time I am walking into the coffee shop and I see her sitting in her uniform in the booth where I first sat to fill out my application. I hang up he phone when she sees me, and go to clock in. She follows me behind the counter, and as I slip on my apron, we start to get to know each other.
