All I Can See Are These Flames Around Me

Holding Nikki's hand in my own, I sat right beside her. I haven't left her side since we got here four hours ago. She had a small smile on her face, but it was strained. The pain from yet another contraction was hitting her hard. She's almost ten centimeters dilated, and will be pushing soon. Which is exciting, Caleb will be here before we know it. How she's yet to ask for the epidural is beyond me. Clearly, Nikki is more of a man than I am.

“You need anything Babe?” she shrugged slightly and glanced around the room, everyone was down getting something to eat, leaving us alone for the first time in months.

“Not really.” Still smiling that beautiful smile, Nikki caressed my cheek.

“Okay.” Leaning forward I pressed my lips to her forehead.

“Andrew?” Nikki looked up at me with innocent eyes.

“Yes?” Normally I hate being called Andrew, not even my parents call me Andrew. But when Nikki calls me by my full name, I melt a little.

“I missed you so much during this break...” Her eyes water, and she wouldn't meet my gaze.

“Nikki, I missed you like you wouldn’t believe. I felt this terrible pain in my stomach all the time, all I wanted was to be with you.” My own eyes water and my throat went raw with uncried sobs.

“I know that feeling. All I wanted was to be with you."

“I know you were just doing what you thought was best for you and Caleb.” She nodded, and again wouldn't meet my gaze for a moment.

“Andy, I love you so much.” Weaving our fingers together I kissed the top of her hand.

“Nikki, I love you too.” Nikki wrapped her arms around my neck and snuggled into the crook of my neck. God, I have missed waking up at night to find her nuzzled up against me like this.

“Andy, please don’t ever hurt me like that again.” Carefully wrapping my arms around her waist I held her as tight as I possibly could without hurting her or Caleb.

“I won’t, I promise I won’t.I love you so much Nikki.” I never want to let her go. Rocking her in my arms I sang softly to her, in a hope to keep her from crying.

“I love you too Andy.” Nikki’s words rang out loud and clear in the room. Hearing her proclaim her love for me, makes me feel so good/

“Excuse me?” I jumped when I looked up to find a very hurt looking Ashley watching Nikki and I.

“Oh... Ashley....” Nikki’s eyes were wide in fear.

“Andy, can I talk with Nikki alone for a few moments.” My brow furrowed.

What does he want to say to her? I swear if he pulls another incident like what happened on Warped I will kill him.

“Umm... I guess.” I stood up carefully and kissed the top of Nikki’s head. “Nick, I’ll be back soon.” Nikki smiled and nodded. “Ashley be good.” Ashley rolled his eyes at me as I left the room.

Okay, it would be a lie to say that I wasn't worried about leaving Ashley and Nikki alone. God only knows what he could do to her. Thankfully she has a call button to the nurse's station on her bed, so if anything happens I know someone, if not myself, will be there to help her. Part of me is worried about them being alone, because the last time that happened Ashley fucked everything up for me. And I don't want to lose Nikki again.

I don't think I could handle losing her again.

Aww yeah, two more chapters!
I'm going to try to get them edited and posted tonight, but I can't make any promises.
I have a paper to finish for school, so I might have to stop writing fanfics for the rest of the night and focus on that.
