An Angels Last Fall

New Family House

“Welcome to the family!” CC hugged me tight. Everyone but Andy was here. “Hug me back.” CC whispered.

I did as he asked and he hugged me tighter. I couldn’t help but laugh. “Juliet can be harsh. We are all sorry that something sweet like you had to witness it.” Jinxx said.

Everyone had brought over one pair of jeans and a shirt. I begged them all to take them back but they refused. “You’ve been wearing old tee shirts of Andy’s and Ashley’s and you’ve been wearing the same pants for days. And I can’t imagine what you’re doing about underwear.”

“Actually Ashley took me shopping for those a few days ago.” I confessed pointing toward Ashley, who had paused what he was doing when everyone looked at him.

“Really dude? You couldn’t have given that one to Andy?” Jake punched Ashley.

I flinched not realizing that that was a common thing to do. Even if it was I was never going to participate. Jinxx walked up to where I was sitting on the couch and sat down beside me while everyone else was talking. He cleared his throat, staring at me. I stared back wondering when he was going to say something.

“When the birds fall, who catches them?” He asked.

I narrowed my eye brows and cocked my head. “The Earth.” It was true but the look on Jinxx’s face told me that I gave a wrong answer. “Who catches the Angels who fall?” I gave him an odd question in response to his odd question.

“Hell,” he stood and walked away after that.

I couldn’t comprehend what he had meant. Was Earth Hell? Probably, or, maybe he was referring to the 3rd that was cast out of Heaven with Lucifer. It was hard to know what people were thinking, when you were one of them yourself.

“So!” CC said handing me a bar wrapped in paper. I took it and rested my hand in my lap. CC nodded to the bar in my lap as he stood in front of me. “You do know what that is right?” He laughed.

“No?” I admitted.

He gasped and sat down beside me. “You kind of seem like you come from a different planet sometimes.” He laughed taking the bar from me and ripping the paper. He handed me an exposed brown square. “It’s awesome, trust me.” I took a bite, I had tasted this before, just never in this paper. I gave CC a face of excitement and he smiled big. “So, I kind of see the way you look at…” he looked around then got close to me and rested his hand on my knee, “you know who.” He blinked one eye and gave a half smile. When I assured him I knew nothing of what he was saying. He gave a big sigh and put his hand in his own lap. “Andy!” He whispered excitingly.

“I look at him like I look at you now.” I said lifting my hand to him then lowering it back down.

“Oh, if that was the case I would have kissed you by now.” He chuckled.

“How do I look at him then?” I questioned.

He took a deep breath and looked to his side. “Like,” he turned back to me, “you never want to look at anyone else ever again. But, yet you look at him like he’s poison.” He tore off a piece of the bar in my hands. “But sometimes, the poison…” He put it in his mouth and chewed. “Tastes the best and won’t end up hurting you.”

I looked at the food. “He’s not poison, he is kind, but I cannot like anyone that way.” I lowered my head, “and humanity has proven to be cruel…”

He put his hand under my chin and picked my gaze back up to his. “Andy is the best thing you’ll ever have, as a friend or more. He’s gentler than that teddy bear he got you.” He took his hand away. “He may look big and bad but he’s sweet.”

“I know…” I smiled.

The front door opened and Andy stepped through. He closed the door behind him. He looked to me and smiled. I smiled back and when Andy left to go up to his room CC got my attention. “That!” He almost yelled. “That’s love.”

“CC…” I whined, “I do not love that way. I do love, but he is a friend. I love him the way I love you.” I put a hand on his chest and he gave a sigh along with a smile.

“You love me?!” He hugged me again startling me. He pulled away and stood up. “Best friend right here!” He pointed at me.

“Everyone’s your best friend, CC.” I heard Jake say.

“Yeah, well she’s different.” CC pouted, “I have to get going. I’ll see you later?” He questioned.

I nodded and he left. Andy came back down and started to talk with Jake, Jinxx, and Ashley. I heard mostly laughter and talk about their music and, whatever tours were. Feeling tired I went upstairs. I opened the door to yet another spare room. The only one in the house. It was plain, white sheets and blue blankets. The walls were white with no posters, paintings, or lyrics on them. One night stand and dresser were the only other pieces of furniture. A small closet stood beside the dresser with a mirror on the door. The window to the right of the bedroom door had a bench underneath it. Blue and white pillows littered the seat, and Steven sat on one end looking into the room. His head was cocked as if asking what was wrong. I sighed and changed into clothes to sleep in. The clock on the night stand read 10:35.

I sighed and crawled under the sheets that I had already slept in twice. I turned the light off and lay on my side. A few minutes after I had closed my eyes I heard a knock on my door. I turned the light on and sat up. I said it was alright to enter. Andy stepped through.

“Oh, I didn’t know you had gone to bed, I’m sorry, it can wait until morning.” He began to walk out when I stopped him.

“It’s alright, Andy. What did you have to say?”

He turned back to me and stood just inside the door way. He took a deep breath, “I’m really glad you’re here, safe that is.” He stuttered as he said the last part. “We uhm, the band and I have to go to the recording studio tomorrow. And I wanted to know if you wanted to come?” He rubbed the back of his head and continued to play with his hair. “I mean, I thought it would be less boring there than being alone here.”

“I’ve never been to a recording studio.” I smiled. “It sounds like fun.”

Andy gave a big smile and looked at his feet playing with his hair some more. “Cool, we leave at nine.” He grabbed the door handle and looked to me. “Goodnight, Ciarra. Sleep well.”

“Goodnight, Andy.”
