An Angels Last Fall

Oops?

It was a good morning so far. I had finally slept for more than 4 hours without interruption. Being human had become difficult. I sat up in bed and yawned, stretching. Pulling my muscles this way felt good. I gripped the blankets and started out the window. The neighbors were fighting as usual and I turned back to my room. I yawned again and got out of bed. Juliet had finally shown me how to tie my hair back and now it was almost never down. I pulled loose pants on and kept the blue t shirt over me.

I walked out into the hallway to see that Juliet was still asleep. I rubbed my eyes and sat on the couch not remembering how Juliet would turn the TV on. I sighed and went back into my room hearing my phone buzz several times in a row. I was worried and ran to it to see that Andy’s was calling me. I answered it not realizing how asleep I still sounded.

“Aw did I wake you up?” Andy said right after my hello.

“No I was up for a few minutes. Still tired I guess.” He chuckled after I said that.

“Well I’m not normally up this early but I was wondering that since both of us are up if you wanted to do the whole ‘meet our way’ at the mall?” He asked. I could hear his voice fade like he was dropping his voice or something.

“How would we do that?” I asked.

“We could like accidentally bump into each other and exchange phone numbers properly?” He started to laugh then he stopped when I didn’t respond.

Honestly I was smiling like a fool. I finally wiped it off of my face and nodded. When he was still silent I gasped remembering that he could only hear me. “Yes, yes I think that would be nice.”

I could hear him sigh. “Okay, I’ll meet you there in an hour or so?”

“Well I still have to get ready…” I let my voice trail off. “One hour.” I was still smiling. It was starting to hurt my cheeks and I was just glad he couldn’t see.

“Good... Bye, Ciarra.”

“Bye, Andy.” I hung up and put my phone on the bed.

I took a deep breath and bit my bottom lip. I mentally slapped myself and cleared my throat. I had to keep us just friends. I looked in the mirror and figured that I didn’t need a shower. I had taken one last night and my hair seemed fine. It was a little cold outside so I grabbed a black long sleeve shirt, faded pants, and regular shoes that Juliet had bought me after I had almost fallen on my face when she tried to buy my really high heels. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=139374942 I left my hair down and wondered if I should ask Juliet to take me. I stood in the front door way looking back at her door. I smiled and closed the door. We had walked there before. It only took 20 minutes.

I continued to play with my hair the whole way there. I had never felt my stomach in such dismay before. It felt like it was fluttering. I wanted it to stop but it would not obey. I got to the mall faster than had anticipated. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and saw that it was 9:24. No missed calls or texts. I took a deep breath and walked inside the food court finding a seat and keeping my phone in my hand. I continued to look around. When it had reached 9:40 I had gotten bored and got up to go to the bathroom.

When I stood up I had not seen where I was standing and ran into someone. I continued to apologize as did he until we both looked at each other.

“Honestly I wasn’t expecting that.” Andy chuckled holding my upper arms gently making sure I was alright.

I chuckled with him and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ears. “I’m so sorry sir.” I laughed.

“Me too. Maybe we should exchange numbers just to make sure everything is alright?” He laughed with me. I could feel my face get hot and we continued with the routine. “Come here often? Because I would love to have a friend like you.” We both laughed.

We finally sat down and he started to talk about how parking was terrible and I confessed that I had walked here. He gasped and almost looked angry. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you.” I put a hand on his arm.

“I’m not mad at you. I should have asked if you had a ride.” He looked forward. “I’m sorry.”

“I wanted to walk.” I said. “If I didn’t I would have made Juliet get up and take me.”

He looked at me again and smiled. “She’s a bitch in the morning. Don’t ever wake her up unless she wants to get up.” He chuckled. “I have to make it up to you.” He said putting his hands on the table.

I looked at him worried. “How?”

“Let me buy you…” He looked around and then shot his gaze back toward me. “Fucking awesome sunglasses?” He was smiling and holding his arms out toward me.

I laughed but also wanted to scold him for cussing. It wasn’t my place though. “I want three.”

A deal was made and he kept his promise of three sunglasses. We were at the mall for hours. Doing nothing really. We had walked into a costume store and he was just trying on costumes and putting some costumes on me as well. He had pulled his phone out at times taking pictures of both of us or just me sometimes. I would play along. It was much more fun being at the mall for hours with Andy than with Juliet.

“I’m starving, you hungry?” He asked two seconds before my stomach answered him with a growl. “Alrighty then.” He laughed.

I was honestly embarrassed but I laughed with him. We got pizza from the food court. We sat for another 30 minutes. We weren’t talking this time. He had gotten a call from someone and was on the phone with them for quite a while. In that time Juliet had texted me.

“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! WHY AREN’T YOU HOME?! DID SOMEONE KIDNAP YOU?!”

“No Juliet. I’m fine. I’ll be home soon.”

She sent a few texts after that regarding what I was doing. Where I was and if I was hungry. I read them all but stopped answering them. I didn’t want her to know where I was right now. I would tell her later. If I told her where I was she would be here in under 5 minutes.

“I’m really sorry, Ciarra. Something came up. I have to go. Let me take you home?” Andy asked getting off of his phone.

I nodded. We drove in chaos. Andy was blasting his music and singing along to his own voice. He tried to get me to at least sing along to the chorus but I wasn’t familiar with any of it. We finally got to my drive way and he parked turning his music off.

“I had a lot of fun.” He said. I nodded and smiled. “I’ll text you?”

“Yeah,” for some reason I wanted to kiss his cheek. I took a deep breath and stepped out of his car and walked into my house.

Juliet was waiting with a huge grin on her face. “You were with Andy?!” She squealed.

“Yes…” I tried to say through her tight hug. When she finally let go I still felt odd. “Juliet?” I asked as she got a coffee mug out of the cupboard.

“Yeah?” She asked turning toward me.

“My chest feels…light and fluttery.” I held my chest wondering if that was normal.

“It means you have a crush darling.”
