Andy POV


Sleep already never agreed with me. But now it was almost none existent. Every hour that Kenna was gone I missed her more and more, the anger was still there but the sadness overpowered it by far. Jake had taken me to a tavern in the nearest village, any woman that tried to fling herself onto me, only reminded me of the one woman I felt for.

“I have to go.” I tipped the tender and walked out, Jake on my tail.

“Where you going?” He asked, his drink in one hand and a woman in the other.

“To get a room, come find me when you’re done.” I started to walk away.

“Dude,” he whispered, he had gotten rid of the girl and had run to my side. “This is going to be the only way to get your head out of the fucking clouds.” He tapped my head with his index finger.

I grabbed his hand hard and threw it away from me. “She was the one, Jake. How am I supposed to ignore the inevitable?” I got in his face, “hmm? I’m just supposed to go around fucking anyone I can like I used to? That didn’t help! I’m still a beast.” I said most of it through gritted teeth.

“Hey,” he stopped me again. “I’m not expecting you to forget, just let go. Get lose again.” He laughed at me and poked my chest.

“You want me to go back to who I was?” I asked.

“Sure?” He seemed unsure but still had a smile on his face.

“Have fun getting home then.” I headed for the stables.

“Wait, wait, wait what?” He asked running after me.

I stopped and faced him. I pointed toward the tavern, “you can stay there, get laid, get drunk, whatever. I want to go home. So I am going to go home and you can either come with me now, or you can get your own ride.”

He paced some and licked his lips. “I’ll get the carriage.”

He walked behind me to retrieve our way home. I sniffed and scratched my head. Worked every time.

It was nightfall but the time we had secured the horses. I rubbed my eyes and yawned as I stepped inside the pace that flooded my mind with memories. Kenna. All I could see was her, memories of little things, silly things, danced across my mind. I hung my leather jacket on the hook just inside the door and started up the stairs.

CC stopped me when I reached the third step. “Hey,” I turned to see that he looked out of breath, like he ran to greet me.

“Hi?” I stayed on the steps, staring at him.

“Well, goodnight!” He ran back to where he came from.

I narrowed my eye brows. I shook my head and continued up the steps. The echoed click of my heals made my journey earie, I felt alone. I stopped hall way up the second flight and hit the wall softly with the outside of my fist. As I rested my forehead against the marble wall a small voice called my name. I lifted my head to hear more carefully.

I squinted as if that would improve my hearing. I looked down the steps, hoping to see what was not there. I must have been sleep deprived. I pushed my thumb and index finger to my forehead and continued walked up the steps.

I sighed deeply as I opened the door to my room. The same damned empty room that welcomed me every day. I closed the curtains and threw my boots into the corner. My bed welcomed me, as if to say, it was alright. I wanted to sleep, to dream of the past, but the thoughts were too much.

When my eyes had gotten heavy enough to keep them closed, a knock sounded on my door. I groaned and put my arm over my face. “Go away.” When there was yet another knock I finally got up. “What?” I demanded when I opened the door.

“I was just wondering who’s going to pick up my botany?” Kenna’s small figure stood, just outside my door way.
