"Your tea, maestro!" My mom says, as she hands me a cup of my favorite drink, Camomile tea.

"Merci beaucoup!" I reply, as I casually take a sip.

"Me too! I want some!" My brother, Jackson, calls as he enters the kitchen.

"No way, dude." Mom responds.

"You don't give Crack to somebody who's already on Speed." Dad added.

"Don't worry, we switched him to Diet."

"Whoa! As long as you didn't switch me." I said.

"No, baby, that would be child abuse!"

My mom then lays the paper down facing me, with a picture of my boyfriend CC & his band on the front.

"Have you seen this?"

"I got a Google alert about it yesterday."

"It's the most we've seen of him in a few months."

"I know."

"Oh, my god, is he really opening up for The Misfits?" Dad asks.

"Yeah, when they play in Nashville tonight." I reply.

"That's huge." Mom responded.

"Yeah, I know."

"It's kind of crazy."

"Everything he's ever wanted is finally coming true."

My sister, Addison or Addie as she likes to be called, then comes into the kitchen with her backpack.

"Mom, did you remember to sign my permission slip for the Planetarium?" She asks.

"Sure thing, chicken wing." Mom jokingly says, as she hands the slip over.

Mom then redirects her attention back to me.

"I know you guys haven't been talking much lately."

"I don't want to talk about it."

"I'm just saying that if you two are missing each other it's ok to call one another."

"Can you stop being a shrink to me?"

I was then saved by Dad.

"OK, kids. If you want a ride, we need to go!"

We redirect your attention to the snowstorn and school closures.

"Baby, turn that up!" Mom says, as Dad presses the volume button.

Robertson & Rutherford counties are now calling for a snow day. All schools in the Robertson & Rutherford districts will be closed for the day.

"Yes! That means no school, kids."

"Well, ain't that a bitch?" My dad says.

"Schools out forever!"

Then Addie says, "Mom, did you really just quote Alice Cooper?"

Dad replies, "My god, girl, have I taught you nothing?"

Jackson interjects, "Lets go make a snow monster!"

Mom says, "We can try. But it looks like it's not really sticking out there, though."

"You guys are all really playing hooky without me?" Mom asks.

"It's not hooky if it's a snow day."

"So not fair."

"Life's isn't fair."

"That is true."

"But sometimes you got to, like, coax it a little," Mom says while walking to the phone then fakes a cough, "It'd be bad if I go to work with this cough, spreading germs around."

You know when you meet someone and they're already the person they are meant to be.

That was CC.

Nobody outside of Crossplains have ever heard of his band.

But he already was somebody.

Everybody knew who he was.

Me?

Not so Much.

(Flashback - General POV)

CC was standing outside of the music room holding his drumsticks, watching Kacee playing the piano.

Annaleise Fowler walks up to CC.

"What class was this?" He asks her.

"Advanced Composition."

"What's she doing?"

"She's more advanced."

CC leaves, and Annaleise walks into the music room.

"Kacee."

"What's up?"

"I think everyone left. Let's get some lunch."

"Iam Starvin' Marvin."

"Oh, and, um, by the way, that drummer from the school's local band was totally checking you out."

"Christian Coma saw me nerding out?"

"He saw you blissing out, and he was into it."

"No, he wasn't "into it," Annaleise."

"Uh, yeah, he is, Kacee. He's way into you."

We pass by CC at his locker, and Annaleise gets out her camera.

"Do not take his picture, Annaleise."

"I am not an amateur. You'll thank me later."
