Escaping Grace

Weekend Getaway

"You wanna go where?" I blinked groggily at Andy across the bar. I hadn't been up long enough to remember to breathe yet, and I had never pegged him for a morning person either.
"Away for a weekend," he told me, sliding some hot chocolate over to me. "Anywhere. Let's just get out of the city and away from everyone for a while."
"Oh, okay." That sounded nice to me. We hadn't been off anywhere, not where it was just us and no one else. And we wouldn't have to worry about Ashley busting in unannounced as usual.
"Where would you want to go?"
"How about Vegas?"
"I'm not sure I'm ready to get married just yet," I joked weakly, and he rolled his eyes at me.
"So no Vegas. You have any suggestions?"
"Well," I had no idea.
Andy suddenly straightened. "I know exactly where we should go."

"For the weekend?" Vale whined as I scurried through my room to gather fresh clothes. "I thought you were going to enjoy my parents with me."
"Vale, we're not doing a repeat," I sighed, packing a duffle. "We haven't got to go anywhere before."
"Because you've barely been dating two weeks. And sleeping together doesn't count."
I rolled my eyes.
"Like you and CC can say any different. I still don't know if you guys are even officially dating."
"I sacrificed him to my parents! Of course we're dating," she scowled at me. "And take that black shiny top, it makes your boobs look nice."
I grinned, and tossed it in my bag. Now there was Vale. "We'll be back Sunday, so don't have a freak out. You can always call if something hardcore happens."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. It's probably good you guys are getting away for a while. Normally I would've taken this time to enjoy my time alone in the apartment."
"Enjoy them while they're here, Vale." I told her. "Your parents are really great."
"I know. I love them to death. In increments."
I chuckled, and hugged her tightly. "I'm so glad you're my best friend. I don't tell you enough."
"I know you don't," Vale hugged me back, her long hair smothering me.
"I don't either. So you guys just be careful, okay? Andy is way too prone to breaking his bones and stuff. His arm still looks shady."
I frowned. "I know. I wish he would've left his bandages on longer, but he has to be such a guy about it."
"Leah!" I suddenly heard Mrs. Durant call. "Your boyfriend is here!"
"The gauntlet begins," Vale told me, and grinned. I rolled my eyes at her and stepped out of my room. Andy stood in the doorway, Mr. Durant asking him about his arm. I glanced at it, seeing most of the bruising had faded and the scratches were healing quickly. His face looked fine now, where mine had taken ages to finally clear up.
"I'm sorry I'm not getting to spend a lot of time with you guys," I apologized as I stepped closer.
"Oh, don't be silly, dear," Mrs. Durant shook her head. "You're young, enjoy it! we can always come see you."
I smiled, knowing that was true. "Ready?" Andy asked me, holding his sunglasses in one hand. I nodded, and we made it out the door after a few minutes of being mothered.
Andy slipped his fingers between mine as we went down the stairwell.
"At least when we go on tour, everyone will be so preoccupied with each other we'll hardly be bothered," Andy commented as we stepped outside.
"Mainly Ashley. If he walks in on us one more time I'm going to change your locks," I grumbled, and went to hail a cab.
"Actually," Andy tugged on my hand, and pulled me to one of the parked cars. "Since mine is out of commission until I buy a new one, I rented one."
I eyed the dark blue mustang that looked suspiciously like the same one he'd wrecked in. "Isn't it bad mojo to drive a car exactly like the one you wrecked?" I asked as he sat my bag in the trunk.
"Not that I've ever heard of," his lips twitched. He stepped around to the driver side, and looked at me over his sunglasses. "You wanna drive?"
Pfft.
"No," I shook my head, and slipped into the passenger seat. Driving got on my nerves, and I wasn't good at it anyway.
Andy started the car, and then peeled off into traffic, easily switching gears and maneuvering. It would only take us a couple hours to reach the hotel if the traffic wasn't bad, and once we hit the interstate a straight shot.
"Okay, so I might have forgotten to mention one detail when we get to the hotel," Andy suddenly spoke, and I turned to look at him curiously.
"What?"
"So you know how Ashley always knows the best party spots everywhere?"
"Yes," I said warily.
Andy glanced at me as he changed gears. "Well a couple friends of ours are throwing this badass rave down in one of the warehouses near our hotel, but we don't have to go if you don't want too," he added quickly, "but I thought it would be a nice chance for you to wind down a bit. Plus you've not had a chance to party with me."
"You mean watch you get drunk and hit people?" I smiled, and he looked a little relieved at my tone.
"Basically. So you want too?"
"Sure. Why not? It could be fun."
Thank you Vale for the sparkly top.
