Escaping Grace

Andys POV


Leah was sleeping, though she kept twisting and turning. I glanced over at her, seeing her face scrunched in her sleep. I turned with a sigh, and pulled her to me, wrapping an arm around her waist.
I pressed a kiss against her neck, and then raised my eyes in annoyance as her phone went off.
It was late, but I couldn't sleep. Apparently the person calling her didn't think she should either.
I reached over and picked it up, seeing a picture of Nate flashing across the screen. What did he want at 3 AM?
"What?" I snapped as I answered, sitting up and leaning away from Leah so I wouldn't bother her.
"Lea--- Andy?" Nates slurred voice sounded surprised. "Where's Leah?"
I glanced over at her slim form, illuminated by the moonlight.
"Asleep. What do you think?"
"Oh," Nate sounded unsure now.
"Well? What do you want?" I tried to keep my voice low, but he pissed me off.
"Um, I needed her to come get me," Nate finally admitted.
"Where the hell are you that you can't get a cab?"
"I'm broke."
"Use a credit card. Leah isn't going anywhere this late." I ended the call before he could speak, and shook my head. He was like a baby Ashley.
I leaned over and plugged her phone back into its charger. She shuffled, and turned slightly.
"Andy?" she mumbled.
"Yeah, just go back to sleep," I brushed her hair from her face. She rolled over and wrapped her arms around me, her face burying in the crook of my neck. I inhaled, catching the scent of vanilla.
Leah was more affectionate when she was sleeping then when awake, I'd realized. She was curled around me loosely, and I turned, pressing my lips into her hair.
Nate was such a pain.
Leah didn't sleep much as it was, I didn't need him waking her up. She didn't think I knew she stayed awake in bed, just laid there for hours, but I did know. The only time she really slept was when she took her medicine, like tonight. Which was also why she was super snuggly.
What was with her? Every time I thought I had her at least halfway figured out something new suddenly happened? but then again, she did keep it interesting.
I stared up at the ceiling, and cut my eyes as her phone buzzed hatefully.
Leah would kill me if I broke her phone.
But I could always buy her a new one, or a better model.
I know she wasn't fond of iphones...
It started again, and Leah mumbled something as she shifted and reached over. She winced as the brightness of the screen shown in her face.
"Wait ---." I started, but she answered before I could get the phone from her.
"Clarke? What?" her voice was slow as she tried to fight her medically induced sleep. I peeled the phone from her fingers as she continued to ask what three more times.
"Clarke?"
"Andy," Clarke sounded relieved as someone awake actually answered. Leah was already dodding off again, muttering about twizzlers and ice cream. God what other bad food combinations did she have?
"What's up? is it Nate again?"
"Yeah. He's still at Dremel and completely out of it. Xavier called to let me know. We usually take turns on going to get him, but Vale has our parents." he sighed.
"Can you get him?"
"Yeah." there was shuffling from his end of the phone. "I got this. Tell Leah she has it next two times, though."
I couldn't withhold my snort; yeah right. I wasn't going to let her go off in the middle of the night to rescue her partied out drummer. "Does he do this that often? Even Ashley has a stopping point where we don't have to get him."
"Nate hasn't learned his limits yet," Clarke answered. "We're working on it. Oh, did you guys like your Christmas? Leah planned it all out."
"Yeah, we all loved it. I've never seen so many chips in my life," I chuckled, remembering the guys practically swimming through the crates of food. I doubt they'd ever been so happy.
"Cool. And hey, me and Vale are leaving for home this year, so watch out for Leah, okay? She's not much of a holidays person. I dont want her being alone."
"Uh, no problem." She hadn't mentioned they would be leaving. Actually, she hadn't said anything about the holidays.
I glanced down at her. Her face was buried in the pillow, and she'd kicked the sheet off of her like usual, her shirt bunched around her waist; she squirmed more in her sleep then any person I'd ever seen.
"I'll go get Nate, and thanks for answering her phone. If she's taken her meds she would probably be so sleepy she'd walk into a pole."
I grinned.
"She would." I agreed, and after a moment we ended the call.
What was I going to do with this girl?
I put her phone back on her side again, and then settled back down, pulling my pillow over my face. God, I needed to sleep.
We also needed a break. Me and Leah.
I needed to take her out of town, just for a weekend. Get away from her bandmates, and mine, so there would be no interruptions or people walking in on us; if Ashley said anything more about him walking in I was going to run him over with our tour bus.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized we had never been on an actual date. Other then our one day where we'd hung out, we were either here at the apartment or with our bands.
I hated date nights though. I grimaced, and felt the bed shift as my girlfriend moved again, and I lifted the pillow off my face slightly.
She stretched, and then reached for me, mumbling again.
I smiled, and rolled onto my side, pulling her against me. She snuggled as close as she could, and I pulled the sheet back over her as I felt her cold hands.
Why did she always have such cold hands?
