Escaping Grace

That Fangirl

I rushed around the room, shoving my concert clothes into my bags and grabbing my makeup. Vale was in the hallway, talking to someone on the phone, and she'd been ready to go an hour ago.
Me, not so much.
God, I was freaking myself out. I glanced at my medicine where it peeked out of my other bag. I'd gotten it refilled right before Romochka had appeared, but I didn't like it.
Either they'd messed up my dose or did something wrong.
Still, I needed something. My hands were shaky and after seeing what I saw earlier, I don't think I could even look at CC.
I sighed, then reached over and spilled some out in my hand. I took them quickly, then tossed the bottle on my bed.
I finished packing my clothes and rushed out into the hall, stumbling over my own self. I shut the door behind me, and Vale turned, bag in her hand.
"We're gonna be late you know." she clicked her phone shut.
"I'm sorry!"
Vale frowned at me, and then hurried to the elevator. She was still pretty pissed off at me, and I felt pretty bad. I really hadn't meant to walk in on the two of them; I didn't know he'd stay the night in our room!
I sighed, trekking behind her. We took the elevator down, and grabbed a cab over to the venue.
My nerves were really working themselves up now. I chewed anxiously on my lip as we were showed up to our dressing room, which was sort of cramped in my opinion. We both claimed a table, and I sat down in one of the chairs, staring at my hair.
It looked so awful, I didn't know if I could do anything with it. I tugged on it dubiously. Vale started working on her make up, and after another hour Nate traveled in, yawning.
"Man, I love the clubs around here. Ashley has great taste. Where'd you disappear off too, Leah?"
I flushed. "I went back to the hotel. Clubs aren't my thing," I shrugged.
Nate raised a brow. "So how did you get that hickey?"
My hand flew to my throat. "What?"
Nate grinned. "Spent the night with Andy, eh?" he teased, and I gazed at the hickey in horror. We'd talked about not doing that! I scowled, and quickly started putting concealer on.
Clarke appeared, a cup holder full of coffee with him. "Thank God," Vale took hers gratefully, and her brother handed me a hot chocolate.
I sent him a smile, and sipped it, it just the perfect temperature. I had so needed some sugar.
Sugar.
I blushed.
I sat my drink down and frowned.
"Where's Danny?" I asked.
"He went home with that girl from the bar." Nate told me. "Whatever her name was."
I frowned, and took a sip of my hot chocolate. That wasn't like him.
"Clara," Vale supplied.
I literally spit my drink out.
"What?" I squawked.
Hot Chocolate was now running down the make up mirror.
Everyone stared at me. Was it the SAME Clara?!
"Was she the fangirl from the last concert?!" I demanded, suddenly quesy.
"I thought she looked familiar," Vale tilted her head. "She might have been."
Oh sweet goodness. Danny was being lured in by Cruellas daughter.
I grabbed my phone and called him. Four times. None of which he answered. Aggravated, I texted him. After about thirty minutes, he called me back.
"Where are you?" I demanded, and jumped out of my chair. I strode into the hallway to get away from everyone.
"Er, nice to talk to you too, Leah." he responded.
"Daniil."
"Oh, you have the tone. I'm on my way to the place you guys are playing. Am I that late?"
"That girl from last night, did she have brown hair and glasses and was her name Clara?"
There was a moment of silence. "Leah, are you stalking me? "
"Danny, I'm serious," I glanced back at the dressing room. Was Cruella up to something? Was her daughter doing recon? She couldn't pry anything out of Daniil. Could she? Her innocent act was way too convincing. I shifted anxiously.
"You need to stay away from, her! She's, well," what was I supposed to tell him? I wasn't sure if it was even the same one.
"Leah, what's the problem?" I could hear the frown in his voice. "You can go and sleep with someone after meeting them once but I can't meet a girl and do the same?"
Ouch. Someone was testy this morning.
"Danny," I hesitated. "That's not what I meant."
"I'm sorry," he sighed, "I didn't mean to say that either."
There was a minute of silence.
"I'll see you in a little while," I said, and hung up before he could say anything.
I pressed my phone to my lips thoughtfully. Was it the same Clara? Ilana Kovas daughter? What if they weren't even the same Clara? What if I was over reacting? I sighed, and stepped back into the dressing room.
"Geez, Leah, what'd you do that for?" Clarke was staring at me. "She seemed nice."
"She's Ilana Kovas daughter," I muttered, flopping down. I leaned forward and rubbed my temples as a headache brewed. "The gossip columnist from Rockstar Magazine."
"The one you went for the interview?" Vale asked.
"Yes. She's... I don't know. invasive." I frowned.
"Well, let Danny have his fun." Vale shrugged. "I doubt the little girl could drag anything out of him."
I hope so. What if he spilled something about our past? I hadn't told Ilana anything, but I'm sure her daughter might be able to use her wily charms on my poor brother and get something out of him, and then it would go to her mother, and then it would go into the magazine, and then everyone would know, and then --- and then ---.
I ran to the bathroom.

Notes

Sorry, I know some of the chapters are short --- but there was wayyy to much to post just for one chapter.
