Hell - Bent

Chapter 12

Katherine's POV:

*1 week later*

With mid-terms successfully completed, a new semester at UCLA began. It was the most challenging, but also at the same time the easiest. Despite this being my first year in university, I have never spent one month, let alone one week without having a boyfriend. Kyle and I met during Frosh Week, a week dedicated to the Freshman, and Kyle, a third year, had been helping out. It had been love at first sight, or so I thought. Since now, merely three months into the new school year, we were over. And I was happy about that.

Since meeting Andy, I haven't really given my relationship with Kyle a second thought. He was a controlling, dominant asshole, who liked to control every aspect of my life. The second I changed something, and wasn't "Miss Perfect" he flipped. bWhich was kinda ironic considering the name he was making for himself. Who'd ever think that a quarterback who got wasted practically every night would have a problem with his girlfriend skipping cheer practice?

Anyways, in the span of two days, I had successfully removed Kyle from my life. i even stopped texting and hanging out with Jackie, mostly out of anger and betrayal that she would go behind my back like that. Some friend. Aleks and I had have quickly bonded, relaxing that we have more in common than either of us originally thought. She showed me more bands that she thought I would like, and in return I tutored her with school.

My life was slowly becoming a bit more controlled, and I was happy, finally noticing the difference between pretending to be happy for the benefit of your boyfriend and supposed best friend, and now just plain happiness.

Andy has been persistent as ever, sending flowers, chocolates, band shirts (which I now high appreciated), CD's, basically everything he could get his hands on. I found the gesture sweet, yet strange. Why was he, a rockstar, interested in a freshman like me? I asked Aleks and all she supplied was. "He likes you, enjoy that. Plus the guy knows where to get good chocolates, I mean seriously, where was he when i was PMSing like a bitch, and wanted a chocolate raspberry truffle?"

I laughed and brushed it off, but still felt unsure of how to react. I still managed to compose myself whenever I saw him, pretending that he wasn't famous, to which he didn't deny it. I guess he didn't want me to know that he was in a band.

I shivered and tugged my sweater tighter over my shaking body. The cool November air was already bathing the campus in a chilling aura, quickly removing the air of summer. I pulled my black dance shorts down as far as they could go, mentally cursing myself for forgetting my sweats in my dorm. Also mentally cursing Jackie for calling an extra cheer practice last minute at fucking 8:00pm.

I felt my bag slipping off my shoulder and momentarily stilled to readjust the strap, before pulling my blonde hair from its elastic., combing my fingers quickly through my dishevelled golden waves. Sighing, I crossed my arms and quickly scurried back towards the main building, hoping for the café to still be open. It was a little past !0:00pm, so I figured students would still be bustling about, desperate to escape the frigid cold.

As I neared the building I scowled, noticing the vacant coffee shop. I swore under my breath, huffing as I turned around, and promptly walked into a wall.

I glanced up, after realization struck me that this was indeed, a human wall, and prepared a string of curse words to throw at the overly tall person in my way. I swallowed the profanities on my tongue, and backed away, tucking a stray blonde strand behind my ear nervously.

"Hey Katie, funny running into you here," he smirked, shoving his hands into his leather jacket pockets.

I let out a puff of air, "hello Andy, stalking me again, I see?"

He chuckled, and ran a hand through his raven hair, "caught on to me finally? But, for your information, I was not stalking you tonight. I actually have life you know."

I suppress the urge to laugh, yes he does have a life, a pretty badass life. "Well, good to know that you don't watch me all the time, maybe I'll have to hold back the restraining order fro now."

"I'd appreciate that," he hummed.

A strong gust of wind knocked into me agile form, sending waves of shivers through me. The amusement on Andy's face disappeared, and concern and worry replaced it. He shrugged off his own jacket, revealing a white BVB t-shirt. When he offers me the jacket, I am stunned, and manage to grate through my chattering teeth, "it's yours. You-you'll be cold."

Andy rolls his eyes, and untangles my arms from around my body, deliberately shoving my arms into the surprisingly warm garment. "I'd settle for a simple 'thank you'."

I pull his jacket closer to my body, muttering a 'thank you' making him grin. Andy pulls me close to his side, draping his arm lazily across my shoulders. Despite the sudden close contact, I appreciate the gesture, and snuggle into his side, making him smile even more, if possible.

"Where to?" He asks, after a few moments of silence.

"Anywhere warm, and were there's coffee," I manage, through my still chattering teeth.

He nods and begins to usher me in a the opposite direction, guiding me to a still open Starbucks, that I didn't even know existed. Andy holds the door for me and I offer him a weak smile, before quickly dashing into the heated space. I take a seat near the fireplace, warming my numb hands when Andy sits beside me, chuckling at my actions.

"What?" I ask, still warming my hands.

He smiles and shakes his head, but i give him a silent look, ordering for him to tell me. "I'm just amazed at how adorable you are," I flush at his words, and hide my face with my hair.

Andy surprises me yet again by brushing back my veil of thick hair, "you don't need to hide, Katherine."

I'm too stunned to react, and we both awkwardly pull away, when i realize that I'm still wearing his jacket. I quickly remove the warm garment that smells like Andy: an intoxicating combination of nicotine, mint and the musky smell of his cologne, and relentlessly hand him back the jacket.

"Thanks," he states, pulling it on, "but it looked way better on you," he winks.

I blush under his gaze, and avert my attention to the drink menu, standing and fumbling for my wallet in my dance bag. "I'm going to get a drink, want anything?"

He gasps over dramatically, and puts a hand over his heart, "why Miss Winston, are you offering to buy me a drink? So sudden. Does this finally count as the date I've previously proposed?"

I roll my eyes, but smile despite myself," sorry Prince Charming, but you've got to work harder than that," i reply, winking.

With that, I go to stand in line, just as Andy rushes to stand beside me.

Notes

So sorry for my absence, and for the pretty bad chapter. Last week was very chaotic.
