My Life

I know I'm stupid for sleeping with Alex, but there's a small part of me that wants to be with him. He's charming and adorable, but he's just not my one and only. I'm not going to tell Andy what I did, that'll only make him upset. The dance is tomorrow and during it I'll tell Alex.

"Mom can you help me dye my hair tonight?" Amy asks. I slump out of bed and walk over to her bedroom.

"Why don't you wait till tomorrow night or Saturday?" I ask.

"The fall formal is tomorrow night and I want to have my hair red for it."

"Do you have a dress and a date?"

"I chose the black dress you gave me and I'm going with Alice, her boyfriend broke up with her."

"Oh, well do you need anything else sweetie?" She opens her mouth to speak, then closes it and shakes her head. I question that for a second but leave her room.

I take a shower and change into my MCR hoodie, black skinny jeans, and black converse. I have to admit it was odd back there with Amy. I know she wants to tell me something, but can't find the words to do so. I wish she felt more open with me, but between her and Johnnie, I hate to admit that Johnnie's more social with me. Maybe while I'm dying her hair she'll tell me.

"Mom do you have our lunches?" Johnnie asks for himself and his sister standing in front of me.

I scrummage through my pocket and pull out twenty bucks. "Here" I say handing them each ten bucks, "I have a thing to go to so walk children."

I grab my keys and slide into my car. I turn on Famous Last Words by MCR and drive down to Walmart. Might as well pick up Amy's hair dye now. I buy her bleach and bright red hair dye. Then I drive to the mall to look for a dress. Alex had already told me he'd be chaperoning the dance tomorrow, so I told him I'd go with him. I walk into Hot Topic and find the perfect dress. Sure it's not too formal, but I like the style. I pick up some nice short boots to go with it and pick up lunch. I'm supposed to meet with Ricky and Tess at one so I pick up a box of pizza and head for home, seeing they live next door. I throw my bags inside and walk over. I let myself in and put the pizza in the kitchen.

"Ricky, Tess, I'm here!" I yell and take a seat on the counter. I few minutes later Tess walks downstairs.

"Hey Scar, sorry Rick just woke up, he's taking a shower so he won't be down for a bit." Tess says, I give her a hug.

"I got pizza, cheese of course because I know you're starting your new vegetarian diet." I say opening the box.

"Oh thanks." She takes a slice.

"I came over to tell you both some news."

"Is it that Andy's back and now you're getting a divorce from Alex to be with him?"

"Yeah, how did you?"

"I was valedictorian, plus Alice told me that Andy was her teacher so it's not too difficult to put the pieces together."

"So do you approve of my decision?"

"Scar you're my sister, as long as you follow your heart, I'll be right behind you." She gives me a hug. "Have you told the kids?"

"Scar you brought food? What's the occasion?" Ricky asks. We fill him in and talk about our plans.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling things are gonna get really bad really soon. I don't know, maybe it might be nothing or maybe I just don't feel so well. Soon dinner time arrives and I'm home watching TV on the couch.

"Mom, you ready to dye my hair?" Amy asks and I nod. We head upstairs to the washroom and she gets out the red hair dye. Amy already bleached her hair as soon as she got home. She sits on a chair and I begin dying it.

"Ames, you sure this won't turn pink?" I ask.

"I'm sure mom." She says reassuring me. "And if it turns pink, it might look nice."

"You were about to tell me something this morning."

"Yeah, I was but it doesn't really matter."

"Okay if it doesn't matter then tell me anyways."

"I'm kinda scared to because I don't know how you'll take it."

"As long as you're not pregnant, I think I'll be fine sweetie."

"It's just that I'm uh umm, I don't know how to say it."

"Just spit it out already."

"I think I'm a lesbian. No I don't think I am, I know I am."

"That's great, how long have you been hiding that."

"Two years, I've only told Johnnie and Alice. Wait, you're not mad or upset?"

"No why would I be? You chose to share with me who you really are. That's all I've ever wanted you to do and I'm so happy."

"Thanks mom, and also Alice is kind of my girlfriend."

"How did that happen?"

"I lied a little to you this morning, she broke up with her boyfriend. I was over at her house to sleep over last week and we were watching a movie on Netflix. We were talking and we looked each other in the eye and we just kissed. And so after that amazing kiss, she broke up with her boyfriend to be with me."

"As long as you're not pregnant and you're happy, then I'm happy as well." I finish dying her hair and she takes a shower.

I swing by Johnnie's room and just peak in through the cracked open door. "So Jess since we're both going to the dance tomorrow night, I was just wondering, and you don't have to say yes, but would you want to be my date?" Johnnie asks Jessica. She kisses him. "So I'll take that as a yes?"

"Yes you idiot, I've been waiting for days for you to ask." Jess says.

I smile and walk downstairs. Alex walks through the door with Jack. "Hello my beautiful wife." He slurs, must be drunk. He tries to kiss me but I push him back.

"Jack what did I tell you, don't bring him back drunk." I say. Jack shrugs.

"Rian and Zack were the ones to get him drunk so don't go blaming me. How are you Scar?" Jack asks, he kisses my cheek.

"I'm fine, but now I have another child to deal with. Are you busy tonight Jack?" I ask, he shakes his head. "Good now here's what you do. You pack Alex a suitcase and you can babysit him tonight."

"Do I have to?" Jack asks, I nod.

"Honey no, I have to have you tonight. I want you to ride me to China." Alex says.

"Jack please hurry." I say.

"Come on buddy, you need to choose what you want to wear tomorrow." Jack says pulling Alex up the stairs.

I sigh and retreat to the couch. There's a knock on the door and I answer it. "Hey Jake." I say as I open the door.

"Hey Scar, I'm here to pick up Jess. Nice flowers." He says. I raise a brow.

"What flowers?"

"There's a bouquet of blue and purple orchids on your table." He picks them up and hands them to me.

"Thanks, I wonder where they came from."

"Oh there's a card right there."

I pick up the card and read it aloud. "You may say you're Harley Quinn, but you are the Catwoman to my Batman. Will you be my date for Fall Formal?" I smile as I put down the flowers.

"Andy wants you to be his date." Jake says.

"Do you mind telling him he's a little too late?" I ask.

"Don't mind one bit."

"Jess your dad's here!" I yell up the stairs. She runs down.

"Thanks for having me Scarlet." She says.

"You're always welcome here." I say.

"See ya later Scar." Jake says.

"Bye." I say and they both leave. I close the door and pick up the flowers. I put them on the table next to the stairs just as Alex and Jack come down.

"Drunk and singing Blood On The Dance Floor lyrics, really Jack really? Please stop him." I tell him.

"Love me or hate me, bet you wanna fuck me." Jack sings. He hugs me and then the two of them are gone.

I lay on the couch and stare at the ceiling. All of my fourteen years here will be gone.
