My Saving Grace

I quietly open the front door and walk up the steps. I hear talking from Brandon’s room, I think it might be a girl……That’s weird, he usually doesn’t have girls over. I go over and I knock on his door.
“Who is it?” He asks. Really? Why would he even ask?
“Who do you think it is? Open the door.” I hear movement and then Brandon opens the door, but only enough to where he can stick his head out.

“What do you want Jessica?” He asks clearly annoyed.
“What did I do to you?” I ask crossing my arms over my chest He shakes his head.
“Nothing, just…did you need something?” He’s hiding something….I know it. Maybe it’s that girl I heard. I hear a noise from his room.
“Who are you hiding?” I ask trying to look past him, but he is taller than me so I fail.
“None of your business. Go away.” He says glaring at me. I just roll my eyes.
“Whatever, have you seen Callie?” He shakes his head immediately.

“No, umm she left last night. Why?” He asks rubbing the back of his neck. Wow he’s acting really weird.
“Just thought you might know…..” I shove my hands in my pockets awkwardly. He shakes his head.
“Well, I’ll talk to you later…” I say and then I go to my room and I change into a pair of shorts and a black shirt.

~Callie’s POV:

Brandon shuts his door and turns around, looking uneasy.

“We’re going to have to tell her at some point….” I say looking down. He sighs
“Yeah, I know just……not yet. I don’t want her to get mad at me because I’ve been on her about Andy….” Even though she would be angry at me for having sex with her brother, I want to be the one to tell her.
“Well, I want to be the one to tell her…” I mumble.

She’s gonna hate me…..

~back to Jessica’s POV:

I lie on my bed and stare up at my ceiling. Just as I’m about to fall asleep my phone buzzes. I’m getting a call from an unknown number but I answer it anyways.
“Hello? Who is this?” I ask trying not to sound too rude.
“Hey Jessica its Amy I wanted to ask you something.”
"Oh hey. Yeah what did you need to tell me?"

“Did, umm…Did Andy hit you? Is that why you have those bruises?”
“No…I told you, I got into a fight at school. I mean yesterday, he accidentally hit me. Why are you asking?” She sighs into the phone.
“Are you sure he accidentally hit you?”
“Yeah, he got into a fight with my friend and I tried to break it up and he accidentally hit me in my jaw…Why?”

“Well, because Andy has had a past…”
“What kind of past?” I ask confused. What does she mean?
“Andy…has had some problems with…hitting his girlfriends…”
Wow, Andy? She could just be lying, but why would she do that?
“Oh, I didn’t know that. Are you sure?” I ask her, trying not to believe it.

“Yeah I am, and I wanted to check and make sure he hasn’t been hitting you…” I shake my head. I knew I couldn’t trust him. He was probably going to end up hitting me too.
“No he hasn’t hit me. But thanks for calling and asking.” That was nice of her.
“No problem. And if he ever and I mean ever lays a hand on you, you call me no matter what.” I have to smile at her kindness.
“Ok. I will. Bye Amy, talk to you later.” “Ok bye.”

I hang up and I lay back on my bed. Andy’s had a past………Was he ever gonna hit me? What if he did mean to hit me yesterday? What am I going to do, should I confront him? These questions run wild in my mind as I drift off to sleep.
