The Devil in the Mirror

Chapter 35

Rose's POV:

*time skip - end of tour*

"I can't believe I have to leave in a week!" I complained, plopping down on Andy's bed.

He chuckled dryly at my whining, and pulled me up, into his reassuring arms. We were both clearly upset about my having to leave LA yet again, to go back to New York for school. I was starting to question why I ever applied to that damned school in the first place. It caused nothing but problems for my barely existent love life. I had considered dropping out, but Andy repeatedly told me that i could be ruining my future if I dropped out of the number one art school in the country, hell maybe the world. So that kinda crossed out that option.

To make matters worse, my parents were insisting on coming home for Christmas, the holiday that was fast approaching. To be honest, I forgot all about the jolly holiday, and I couldn't make up an excuse to not show up this year. after bailing on my family for Thanksgiving, and my month off, they were expecting my return in late December. The problem, that was the time I had intended on spending with Andy, considering we now live in opposite ends of the country. Once again, damn you Juilliard.

I had failed to tell anyone in my family that Andy and i were back together, actually, now that I think about it, I think I also may have forgotten to tell them that i was dating Chris, you know the guy who is like, ten years older than me... Yeah, if they weren't thrilled about Andy, they would have had heart attacks at Chris. When I called my mother after breaking up with andy the first time, she had been both comforting, and condescending, reminding me that dating rock stars was never ideal. I'm pretty sure after that i just hung up on her, and just plain out ignored them for the next couple months, making up excuses about school or being constantly busy.

I also hadn't spoken to my older brother in quite some time, the last time i remember seeing him was after I woke up from my coma and he stormed out. He broke up with Amber last i heard, only to get back together a month later. She still at least kept in contact with me every once in awhile, but I had mostly managed to distance myself from my entire family, something Andy was unhappy about.

"I can stay here!" I beg again, "I'll go to UCLA, and you can pick me up from school, it'd be really cute!"

He shakes his head, smiling slightly, "as amazing as that would be, you are going back to New York, even if I have to drag you there myself."

I pout at that, and turn away from him, scooping down and running my fingers along Crow's silky back. He purrs in appreciation, before scurrying off into the kitchen. Even the damn cat is abandoning me!

"But I don't want to leave! i thought me being eighteen meant i could make decisions for myself, and shit like that!"

"Nope, you don't get to make decisions because you suck at it," he fires back, a smug smirk on his lips.

"I do not!" I counter, although i know my argument is fruitless.

"Babe, just stop, you can't win. Now come on, I thought you wanted to go Christmas shopping?" He asks, and my eyes instantly light up.

I love everything about Christmas, even though i briefly forgot about it. And Andy is using it as a distraction, bastard.

I pout again and remain seated on the bed, crossing my arms defiantly over my chesty, refusing to move. Andy sighs, and gives me a stern look, "really?" He asks, but I remain silent.

"Fuck it," he mumbles, and picks me up, throwing me over his shoulder, carrying me out of the bedroom. I shriek and pound on his back, but he doesn't budge.

Andy finally sets me down when my phone starts ringing, and I pounce on the small device, not bothering to check caller I.D before answering.

"Hello?" I ask simply, never expecting what was coming next.

Andy's POV:

Her eyes widen before tears fill them, and I want nothing more than to pull her into my arms. But something stops me, the way her body has suddenly tensed up, or the way she keeps her words soft. She doesn't want me to hear what she's saying, I realize with a start.

She hangs up eventually, ignoring the protests on the other end, an quickly wipes her eyes, her gaze falling on me. She tries for a small smile, but it fails miserably. I pull her into my arms and allow for her to cry softly into my chest, murmuring soothing words into her ear, but she still remains tensed up.

"Rose, baby, what happened? What is it?" I ask her softly, running my fingers through her dark hair.

She pulls away a little bit so she can look up at me. And when our gazes lock, it's the saddest, most tragic look on her face that breaks me.

"Andy, we have to break up."

To be continued.
