Forsaken, I Walk The Night Alone

Making Promises

Vale looked out the window as Andy rubbed his hands on her back. He was giving her a massage as her wings were killing her.

He kissed each vertebrae of her spine and she smiled. Everyone was out so they were by themselves finally.

"You know, they'd feel better if you took them out.." Andy said, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"Mmm." She cocked her head. At first she had been jazzed about seeing her wings but now she was nervous.

It was like letting go of the last part of human she had.

"You have to do it sometime." He said.

"I know." She said, biting her lip as he worked out a kink in her back. "Ow!" She yelped as he dug his elbow into the same spot.

"Babe, seriously. All the pain will go away." Andy kissed the spot softly. He stood up and took off his shirt. He pushed his wings out of his skin with ease and then looked at his girlfriend. "Come on." He took her hands and helped her stand up. "Just push them out." She sighed. "Is something wrong?"

"It's like.." She shook her head. "The last thing to do before I'm not human at all anymore. I'm an angel."

"You're amazing." Andy said. "And beautiful, and a dragonfly. My dragonfly. You can do it. You'll always have me." She blew out a sigh and nodded.

He held her hands tightly as she let her wings fold out of her skin and ripped her shirt just enough for them to come out. Andy's breath caught as he saw them. They brought back a whole slew of amazing memories.

Andy led her over to the mirror and she let out a breath as she saw them. They were so beautiful and perfect. Andy's feathers mixed with her's and in that moment she felt absolutely complete. His hands rested on her shoulders, a proud smirk was on his lips.

He couldn't wait for the day they went back to heaven together. He knew that if they did everything they were supposed to do they'd be back before they knew it.

"Wow." She whispered. He led her back over to their mattress and laid down. She followed him and let her wings wrap around his torso. He giggled and did the same over her shoulders. His hands came up to run his fingers through her feathers and she sucked her breath in.

It truly was the greatest feeling she'd ever experienced.

It was like he was repairing any bad memory she'd ever had to experience. He was holding her in all the possible love he had.

They laid for hours until everyone came back. Even then, they all just stared at the couple in awe.

Andy had fallen asleep while Vale just held him close to her. His cheek rested on her chest and her hands tangled in hair.

"What's up with you guys?" Ashley laughed.

"Relaxing." Vale chuckled, feeling Andy pull her tighter to him.

"Do you ever get tired of him hanging on you?" CC raised his brow as he sat behind his drums.

"Not really." She giggled, kissing his forehead. His eyes fluttered open and he smiled up at her.

"Nice to see you finally let your wings out, Vale." Tallie smiled. "They're still as beautiful as I remember."

"Thanks." Vale blushed. Andy rolled off of her before stretching himself out. He heard his bones crack and he let his wings softly glide back into his skin. Vale did the same before leaning into his side.

"Well, we've got a gig boys." Andy smiled.

Everyone stared at him in shock. "Are you serious!?" Jake exclaimed.

"Our boss said we could have one in her parking lot. We've got to start advertising." Andy said, sliding Vale onto his lap. She laid back into his chest and closed her eyes. The conversation didn't interest her and she was dead tired.

A few hours later she woke up to the sound of Andy singing and everyone playing the hell out of their instruments. Tallie was listening on the couch but Vale had been splayed across the mattress.

As they finished up their song, Andy grinned widely at her. "Hey sleeping beauty."

"Hey." Vale rubbed her eyes. "What time is it?"

"Like eight." Andy said. "Hungry? Jake ordered pizza."

"Sure." Vale stretched her limbs out before standing up. Her back did feel better- miles better.
She grabbed a slice of cheese pizza and sat down next to Tallie.

"So.." Vale smirked. "Keep going. I want to hear." Andy laughed at her and looked around at the guys.

"You guys want to do Never Give In?" Andy asked. They all nodded, tuning instruments.

Vale tucked her feet beneath her as Jake began to play. He was amazing and Vale had this gut feeling that the guys were going somewhere. That this was more than heaven- this was themselves.

She smiled at Andy as he sang, the words seeping into her brain and staying there for times she knew she would need them. She was so proud that they had done this in so few days.

They were meant to play together.

"That was awesome guys." Vale smiled as they finished the song. Andy winked at her before taking a sip of water. "So what all do you have so far?"

"Uh- Never Give In, Carolyn.." Vale blushed at that song- her human middle name she'd chosen to replace Siumm. "And Heavens Calling."

"Hmm." Vale thought for a moment. "Well you'll definitely need more songs to play a show."

"Yeah." Andy collapsed on the floor, rather adorably.

"You could cover a song or two." She shrugged. "But I think you'll need a few more." Andy drew his legs to his chest and rested his chin on his knees.

"It's hard, Vale." He bit his cheek.

"I know baby." She said, sitting next to him and brushing his hair behind his ears.

Ashley rolled his eyes at the couple. They were so adorable it made him want to throw up. Ashley couldn't deal with relationships but damn did Vale and Andy make it look good. Always having someone to lean on...

That seems like the most amazing thing in the world.

"I just want to go to sleep." Andy said, laying down in her lap. She rubbed his side softly until she reached his hair and then back down.

"Come on, Biersack." Jake walked to the couple and tried to pull him away but he just hung onto her. Jake gave Vale a look but she only shrugged.

"How about I take Andy up to the roof and we'll work on something?" Vale said, softly running her fingers through his hair.

"I like that idea." Andy said, standing up and grabbing his jacket off the couch. He held his hand out for Vale and she took it after grabbing a blanket and Andy's new notebook. The feeling was so familiar now, his rough hand against her smooth one. It was something she had truly grown to love.

They left the apartment and ran up the fire safety stairs to make it to the grimy roof. Vale sat down by the edge, draping the blanket around her shoulders. She opened it up for Andy and he smiled before sitting down and pulling her close.

They looked up at the stars, holding onto each other. "You know how many angels are probably looking down at us right now?"

"A lot?" She giggled, watching as his jaw strained.

"Probably every angel in heaven. Waiting for us to fuck up." He laughed, resting his chin on her head. She kissed his jaw before laying her head on his chest.

"You know, we came up here to write-" She giggled as he placed his finger on her lips.

"Shh." He chuckled, smoothing her hair down. "Remember that time we pranked Jedd?"

"Boy do I." She tilted her head back in laughter. "We teepeed his house! We had to scrub floors for weeks.."

"That was terrible but so worth it." Andy laughed. She grinned up at him and blushed as he kissed her temple. "Tomorrow I'll take you out on a real date."

She smiled softly before brushing her hair back. "I hope it's not too nice. Andy, we don't have that much-" He once again pressed his finger to her lips.

"How many times do I have to do that tonight!?" He laughed. "I want to take you on a date, babe. I've been saving up."

She smiled and pulled him into a soft kiss. "I love you."

He reached down to take her hands and gave her knuckles a kiss. "Love you too."
Vale reached down to take Andy's notebook. It was green and had drawings all over it. She cracked it open and grinned at his messy handwriting.

"You know, I seem to remember you writing a lot up in heaven." Vale said, looking up at him.

"What happened to all of those songs?" Andy reached over her and flipped the page all the way to the back of the notebook.

"I remembered them and wrote them down a few days ago. It's not all of them, the ones I wrote for you at thirteen are just sappy and young but some of the ones I wrote when I was older are okay. I'm not sure if I should use them or not." He sighed, watching as Vale flipped through the pages.

"Oh hey! I remember this one! Knives and Pens." She smiled, scanning the lyrics. Her smile faltered a bit as she read on. "B-babe this is really good."

"Really?" He asked. The words meant a lot to him.

Andy was the outcast of heaven. He never felt like he fit in and the only reason he would ever want to be back there was because of Vale.

He had so many fond memories with her up there and he missed it but he didn't miss the ridicule.

You'd think all angels were sweet but some were just downright mean. Some deserved to be demons.

"It's beautiful. All of these are." She said. Her breath caught as she read through one called Sweet Blasphemy. She knew Andy had been a bit of a rebel in heaven and never really bought in to a lot of the ways of the church. "And defiant."

"Hm." Andy chuckled. "I guess so." She looked up at him, taking in his eyeliner. He looked so cute recently and he always stared at her with so much love that she had to smile.

"You should use them." She said. "They're great."

"Then I will I guess." He nodded, nuzzling his cheek against her head. She buried her face in his chest before kissing his skin.

"I'm tired." She whispered.

"Sleep." He laughed, pulling the blanket tighter around them both.

"On the roof?" She giggled. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

"I'll carry you back downstairs." He said. "It's peaceful up here. Just you and me."

"I love you." She whispered, never getting enough of saying it. "Thank you for loving me." He let out a sigh, not knowing how else to express what he felt.

"Anytime."

If you're really attached to the idea of being on the popular page, I suggest updating frequently, which makes your story more visible, and making your story really long. What I have written is not, by far, the best available, but sometimes my longer story will randomly become "popular." I couldn't figure out why, until I realized, it's, like, 160 pages long as a word document! So, if I get a new reader, and they read it all from start to finish, that's like a short story getting, like, 40 views! I mean, it still has almost no subscribers or comments. Just a thought. ;)
