Forever Us

-5 years later- (Skylar and Andrew would both be 23 now)

“Wake up!” I heard.

“W-What?” I questioned, still half asleep.

“Mom, wake up! We’re going to be late!” He hollered.

“Shit!” I suddenly realized, jumping out of bed

“Bad word-“ He started to say.

“Just go get dressed!” I said in a rush.

Aaron ran to his room and I shut the door behind him. I walked into my closet, pulling out a pair of black skinny jeans, a baggy Aerosmith shirt, and my black and yellow Batman sneakers.

“Shitshitshitshitshitshit!” I mumbled to myself.

I pulled off my big shirt off of my head and replaced it with my Aerosmith shirt, then pulled on my pants, and grabbed a belt off of my dresser, plain black and pulled it through the belt loops, then grabbed a black pair of socks out of my drawer and slipped them on, followed by my sneakers. I ran into the bathroom, grabbed my hair brush off of the counter and yanked it through my hair quickly, it was still dyed a dark black all through. I turned on my hair straightener to heat up and ran into Aaron’s room to make sure he was getting ready.
I busted through the door and he was still trying to out on pants.

“Okay, you work on that while I get you a shirt.” I huffed and walked into his closet. I looked through until I found his favorite shirt, a black shirt with the Nirvana logo on it.

“This?” I asked and held up the shirt for him to see.

“Yeah!” he said excitedly as he buttoned up his pants.

“Alright, take your shirt off then.” I laughed.

He pulled off his shirt and I walked over and tugged his new shirt on.

“Looks good, little man.” I smiled.

“Thanks!” he said.

“Alright, you go down stairs and get a poptart, then put on your shoes.” I said and patted his butt.

He left the room and I walked back into the bathroom, and ran the hair straightener quickly over my hair, then brushed my teeth.

I ran into my bedroom, grabbed my phone off of my nightstand and ran downstairs to see Aaron sitting, eating his poptart quietly with his shoes on, waiting.

“Thanks! Now go get your backpack then get in the car, okay? I’ll be right there.” I smiled.

Aaron toddled off towards the car, grabbing his backpack by the door on his way. I walked around the house and made sure all of the lights and the TV were off. Soon I ran out to the car and I drove to Aaron’s school, and dropped him off.

“Have a good day and I’ll be home soon after school, alright?” I asked and he nodded.

“Be good.” I said and kissed the top of his head, then watched him scurry off.

I drove off to work soon.

“Hey, Rene.” I said. Rene was my best friend, thankfully she worked with me.

“Hey! You’re going to a concert with me tonight!” She said as her long blonde hair moved in the wind as we walked inside.

“What? No, I have to take care of Aaron, and you know that.” I said with a huff.

“Call the babysitter!” She yelled excitedly.

“It’s Friday night though, she probably has better things to do.” I sighed.

“Well too bad, she’d be getting paid.” Rene laughed as we entered the building.

“What band?” I caved in.

“Yes! It’s a band called Black Veil Brides.” She smiled.

“Good music?” I asked.

“Very. They’re coming into town tonight and doing a signing after, we have to go. You’ll love them!” She begged.

“Okay, okay, okay! I’ll call the babysitter on break.” I said.

“Yes!” She said excitedly.
