Forever Us

Finally it was break. I pulled my phone out of my jeans pocket and called the babysitter, she reluctantly said yes.

“Rene?” I called.

“Yes?” She said and popped around the corner of my office.

“The babysitter said yes.” I smiled.

“Yaaaassss!” She said, giddy.

“Yeah.” I laughed.

After she left I spent the rest of the day looking at the clock. I just wanted to go. Finally 5:00 came around and just as I expected, Rene came running into my office.

“You go home, get ready, then I’ll meet you at your house. Hurry, we need to go as soon as possible.”

I smiled at her, then got up and walked out of the building and to my car. I turned on the radio as soon as I got in the car.

“In the end, as we fade into the night, who will tell the story of your life?” The radio blasted.

I found myself singing along. It was a catchy tune. And holy shit, did that voice sound familiar.
Soon enough, I was home. I got out of the car and walked inside and Aaron came running, hugging my knees.

“Hey, baby!” I smiled, glad I was home.

“Hey, mom!” He said into my knees.

“Aaron, the babysitter is going to come watch you tonight, okay?” I said.

“No!” He wailed.

“What?” I asked

“I hate the babysitter… Can I please go to one of those rock concerts?” he begged.

“Honey, you can’t. Once you’re older, for sure. Okay? Just try to be good for the babysitter, please.” I said and ruffled his blonde hair.

“Fine.” He said and stuck out his bottom lip in defeat.

“Thank you, baby.” I laughed.

I walked upstairs and went into my closet. I pulled out my pair of black, ripped extra skinny, skinny jeans, my black and white Kiss t shirt, and my black leather jacket. I changed into those quickly and threw my dirty clothes in the hamper, then walked into the bathroom. I straightened my hair again, making it perfect, touched up my makeup, added red lipstick. As I was studying everything in the mirror, trying to make sure I looked alright I heard the door bell.

“It’s Rene, can you get it, please?” I hollered through the house and I heard the door open, then Rene’s voice.

I walked downstairs quickly with my phone to see Rene and Aaron both playing ball.

“Ready, hot stuff?” She laughed.

“Yeah, you?” I asked.

“Yep.” She said, then I heard the doorbell again. I opened it for the babysitter.

I greeted her, then left with Rene.

As soon as we got in the car a CD started to play, and the familiar voice sang again.

“Is this Black Veil Brides?” I asked.

“Yeah! Aren’t they great?!” She said with excitement.

“Yeah, they’re amazing, I just… he sounds familiar.” I said.

“Well they only have one song on the radio, In The End, maybe you’ve heard that?” She said.

“Yeah, maybe.” I said hesitantly.

Finally Rene and I got there and got in.
