The boy in the house opposite mine
New Opinion
Emma's POV:
I sit next to Andy in R.E. Mr. Bell says that we all have to go to the local church, one Sunday, and join in the activities, to do some research about what happens in church.
"Actually, I don't believe that we should be forced to enter a church, or pray to a god if we don't believe in it. Which I don't. I think this religion thing is kinda stupid. You shouldn't be forcing this on us." Andy explains. Everyone turns to look at him. From what I've gathered about this town, if you're not religious, you're hated.
"Andy." Mr. Bell turns to look at him. "We all understand that your opinion is...strong... but I can't let you share this negativity with the rest of the class."
"I agree with him." I say. "No matter what the world says or believes in, we have our own opinions and we should be allowed to share them. Do you think that our opinions will change everyone else's?"
Everyone looks at me and Mr. Bell stares at the floor. Andy smiles at me and squeezes my arm.
Mr. Bell shakes it off and carries on with the lesson.
XXXXXXXX
"I'm proud of you!" Andy says as we get out of the class. "That was awesome! Did you see his face? He had no idea how to react!"
"Thanks." I giggle. "I was just sticking up for you."
"No, you weren't." Andy smiles as we step outside. "You were sticking up for yourself. I'm proud!"
We get onto the bus. We talk about the lesson a little but after that we just listen to music. He offers me one of his headphones and we listen to Motley Crue.
