Our faith will silence the doubt

Andy clutched the mic with both hands as he sang his heart out; he and the band where in the recording studio, working on their next album. It had been six months, six long months since Kathie’s disappearance. He tried to act as if everything were okay, for the band’s sake, for the fans, but deep inside he was dying. He had finally found her, and when he felt she was finally his, they took her away from him. They had already hung her picture on store windows, on phone booths, and everywhere else they could think of, but still no luck. How was it possible she could just disappear of the face of the earth? He knew what was going on though. Her parents where probably trying to hid the fact she was missing. Of course she wasn’t missing to them, they had her. Yeah, they had her, against her will. The police hadn’t understood though. They had clearly stated that she was with her parents and that’s where she should be. Andy had tried to convince them that she didn´t want to be with her parents and that she was now eighteen years old and had the right to choose for herself. Ashley, James, and the rest of the group had argued, tried to make them understand that Zoey was actually Kathie, and her real parents had been killed when she was young, the so called parents she had now where the ones that had killed the Sterling couple. But the police didn’t believe them, not without proof.

Andy couldn’t really rely on his parents because they had never really met the new Kathie. If only he had taken her to his house when he had the chance, but no, he had told her that he wanted her all to himself and that she would meet them soon. But they wouldn’t meet her, not now, he wasn’t sure they ever would. But he knew where they were, in UK. James had said Tammy and Dave had planned on sending Kathie to study in UK. Jake had said, that they couldn’t possibly be there, that would be too obvious. But Andy didn’t care. He would start there; it was the only thing he could think of. Then what? That was a question that seemed to be popping out frequently. What would he do if she was in the UK? It’s not like he could take her away from them again, no, they would be on their guard. And if they weren’t in UK, what would he do then? He sang the last words to the song a tear running down his face. It was the song he had wrote for Kathie, the song that described her life. He let go of the mic his hands sore. The guys smiled, the album was almost finished. It would be released in two months and then touring would start two months after that. Andy was happy; they had worked so hard for this. Yet, he still felt empty inside. Something was missing. He remembered how he and Kathie had talked about going on tour together, how they would walk hand in hand to the award ceremonies. He looked at the guys who were watching him, and he wondered how long he had been spacing out. He smiled at them,” Great job guys. At this rate we will be finished in less than a month, the album may be released earlier than we thought.” He walked out of the booth and out the door of the recording studio. He took a cig out of his back pocket and a lighter out of his front pocket.

He opened the door that led out doors and put his glasses on as the sunlight threatened to blind him. “Where the hell are you at Princess?” He hoped they were treating her right. They better be, because if-when he found them, and if he found out that they had done any harm to her, he would kill them with his own hands. He let out a soft sigh as he sat on the sidewalk and looked up at the sky. Would he ever find her? He looked at his phone as it started to vibrate. He grinned as he saw the tour dates. He would be touring in the UK at least four times. He would find her, if not her, he would find Tammy and Dave. He looked up as the door opened and James walked out.

James looked at Andy frowning. He knew how he felt, losing someone special to him. “I think I may have some news for you.” Andy raised an eyebrow at him questioningly. “Okay….” “I talked to Casey.” Andy nodded he had heard James and Kathie talking about Cassandra. She was James’ girlfriend who was coming to visit in a few days. “She said she heard some people talking about the Parkers. She heard them saying something about London.” Andy looked at James, “Are you sure?” James nodded, “She’s trying to find out more.” “Tell her to be careful. I don’t want her risking herself.” “Don’t worry, she’s a smart girl.” Andy nodded, “We’ll be touring in the UK four times.” “Wow, really? That’s great! I can try to find her while we’re there.” James patted his shoulder, “We’ll find her. I know we will.” Andy smiled, “Yeah I know. If we don’t hurry soon, she may beat us to it. She may be the one finding us.” James chuckled, “Yeah, you know how impatient she is.” “Do you think they’re treating her right?” “Well Tammy has always loved her. I think she’s obsessed. So yeah, I know they’re treating her right.” Andy smiled, “We’ll be with her soon. When is Casey coming?” “She’ll be here Friday afternoon.” “She’s a fan of us too isn’t she?” James nodded, “Bring her to studio.” “Wow, really!?” “Yeah! It will be nice to have someone else’s opinion.” “Cool, thanks. I’ll tell her. She’ll probably die of happiness.” “Ha, we don’t want that now do we? Having a fan die before getting to meet us.” “That would be bad.” He and Andy laughed. “I wonder what she’s doing right now.” James frowned, “She’s probably going off to college or something.” “She never told me what she wanted to be.” “She was debating over flight attendant and French teacher.” “I hope she’s happy.”
