Our faith will silence the doubt

Kaili was greeted by a pair of dark brown eyes. “How do you do?” The boy was almost Valentin’s height; he had tanned skin, and a thick accent. He wore a pair of swimming trunks and was shirtless which reviled his six pack. He looked an awful lot like Valentin, if Valentin had suddenly turned into a hot Latin model. He had snakebites, which made him look even more attractive. “You must be Kaili. My cousin, Valentin, has told me an awful lot about you. You look even more beautiful in person.” He turned towards the stairs and called out, “Cecilia! I’ve found her. You were right; she was in Valentin’s room.” He turned back to Kaili and grinned, “Pardon. I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Romeo, Romeo Santos.” The name was pronounced in a Spanish accent. He grabbed her hand and kissed it, “It is an honor to finally meet the future wife of my beloved cousin Valentin.” Kaili smiled as she stepped out of the way, “Please come in.”
Cecilia twirled into the room gracefully and kissed Kaili on the cheek. “I’m Cecilia Santos, but you may call me Cesi, if you wish. You’re just astonishing beautiful. I wish I had your skin tone.” Kaili chuckled, “I wish I had yours. I can hardly ever tan.” “Let’s switch skins then, shall we?” Kaili hesitated and was saved my Romeo. “Ceci, basta. You’re scaring her.” “Oh, perdón. I didn’t mean to.” Cecilia was a few inches taller than Kaili and her skin was just like her brother’s. Maybe they were both super models? “Are you two models?” Cecilia and Romeo looked at each other and chuckled. “Not even close.” Cecilia danced around the room and Kaili was in awe, she had never seen anyone dance like that before. “We’re professional dancers.” “Wow that was wonderful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that kind of dancing before.” Romeo grabbed his sister’s hand and smiled. “I figured you wouldn’t. I don’t think it’s common in England. That was called merengue.” He took his cell phone out and after a few seconds music in what Kaili guessed was Spanish stared to play.

She watched amazed as Romeo and Ceci stared to dance. She suddenly recognized the music, it was bachata. There was so much she still didn’t know. She suddenly felt, well, ugly. There was no way she could ever dance like them. Valentin was right, she had two left feet. Romeo stopped the music and Kaili clapped. “Bravo! That was fabulous. I’ve never seen anyone moving like that. It was so romantic.” Cesi smiled as she wrapped her arm around her brother’s waist. “Bachata is a romantic style of dancing. You noticed how we were close to each other?” “I can’t imagine how couples must feel dancing like that.” Romeo chuckled, “Do not blush. I understand what you mean. But really once you start dancing you forget about all that.” “Isn’t it weird though, with you being brother and sister?” Ceso shook her head, “Not really. I feel much more secure with Romeo. Most of the boys in our, um, how do you say, community? They are very, vulgar. That’s why I mainly dance with my brother.” Kaili nodded. “I see what you mean, you’re so beautiful, I’m not surprised boys are all over you.” After a few hours of talking and getting to know each other better, Romeo had decided to teach Kaili how to dance bachata. Cesi moved to the rhythm of the music as she watched and laughed. “Kaili, you must stop blushing. Forget that you’re dancing with Romeo; just let yourself get carried away by the music. Feel the rhythm, be the music.” Kaili blushed, that was easier said than done. “Romeo, do not pull her so close to you, remember she is Valentin’s fiancée.” Romeo chuckled as the song ended, “I believe that’s enough practice for now. We’ll continue this tomorrow, if you want that is.” Kaili nodded trying to catch her breath. Her legs hurt from all that dancing. “Of course. I’d be glad to.” There was a knock on the door and Mrs. Sumpter called out, “Kaili, we’ll be leaving in two hours.” “Alright!” Cesi’s eyes sparkled. “I had almost forgotten. You are going dress shopping today.” Kaili nodded, “Yeah. Do you want to come?” Cesi grinned, “Do you mean that?” “Of course.” Romeo smiled, “If there is anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.” Kaili thought for a minute and grinned, “Actually. Now that you mention it, you two know Valentin very well, don’t you?” They both nodded, “We know him like the palm of our hands.” Kaili smiled, “Great. There’s a favor I’d like to ask you two. But please, this has to be a secret between the three of us. All I want is Valentin to be happy.” Romeo and Cesi looked at each other than at her confused. “If it is for Valentin’s happiness-” “-Than we are all ears.”
Kaili looked out the restaurant window and then at the clock. Two more minutes. She looked at the picture she had stolen from one of Valentin’s drawers and flipped it over. She knew she would find, thanks to Romeo’s help she hadn’t had to search a lot. She looked up as the restaurant bell rang and a young blonde headed girl walked in. She looked around confused. Kaili looked at the picture than at the girl and smiled as she waved at her. The girl seemed amazed as she looked at Kaili. Kaili wished she could have the girl’s golden locks. She could imagine herself with them. She smiled as the girl sat down in front of her. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I’m Kaili Pennington. Please, order anything you’d like. We have plenty of time to talk.”
