Our faith will silence the doubt

Kaili felt herself being lifted. She tried to open her eyes but she couldn’t. She felt someone’s warm chest breathing softly. Where was she? She felt as if she were being carried up some stairs. She managed to open her eyes and saw Valentin was carrying her. She tried to say something, but wasn’t sure if the words had come out right. “Shh, it’s okay. I’ll call your mom and tell her you’re staying over. I bet she’ll be thrilled.” Kaili closed her eyes again and let sleep take over. For the first time since Kaili could remember she dreamed.
Kaili slowly opened her eyes. She saw a wooden fan above her. She sat up confused, her room fan wasn’t wooden. She looked around the room confused. This wasn’t her room either. She let her feet touch the cold wooden floor. Where was she? Valentin…This must be his house. She realized she still had last night’s clothes on. She looked at the made bed, Valentin had put a blanket over her. Had he slept with her? No, she was fully dressed. She looked at the dark glass door. She walked to it and opened it. Bathroom. She looked at another glass door. She opened it, closet. She looked at the last door and opened it. Hallway. She walked down the hall and looked down as she leaned on the railings that lead to the stairs. She saw Valentin sitting on the kitchen table typing on his laptop.
“Good morning princess.” Kaili jumped back startled. Valentin looked up at her and smiled. “Want breakfast?” Kaili walked to the stair case, “How did you know I was up?” “Wooden floors are a bit more sensitive than concrete ones. You have very heavy footsteps.” Kaili walked downstairs, she really did have heavy footsteps. She tried to walk slower. Valentin chuckled, “It’s okay. I was only kidding about the footsteps. Wooden floors tend to give you away easily.” “What’s for breakfast?” Valentin scratched his head. “Um…” “Right. I’ll cook something.” “You don’t have to, we can order something.” “I don’t mind cooking.” “Okay…” Kaili walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. “You have got to be kidding.” She walked into the dining room holding a milk carton. “Valentin.” “Yeah?” “Why do you only have milk in your fridge?” “Oh shit, I forgot to go grocery shopping yesterday!” Kaili shook her head. “You are, how did you survive a week alone?” “Take out.” Kaili chuckled, “Well let’s go grocery shopping.” “Can we order something first?” “Fine.” “Burger king?” Kaili chuckled, “You love fast food.” “Yup.” “Fine.”
“You know what’s weird?” “What?” “I had dream last night. And the craziest thing is, that I remembered it.” “You don’t dream?” “If I do I can never remember.” “What was it about.” “I don’t even know why I dreamed about it. I was at a Black Veil Brides concert, was super happy. I got to meet the band.” “That’s cool.” “I don’t even like Black Veil Brides. I need to stop hanging out with Angela.” “You don’t like Black Veil Brides!?” Kaili looked at Valentin who was staring at her. “No. They’re too loud.” “Oh and Pop isn’t?” “At least they make sense.” “So does Black Veil Brides. Did you know a lot of their songs are real life experiences?” Kaili shrugged. “I still don’t like them.” Valentin shook his head frowning. “What am I going to do with the three tickets I bought?” “Three tickets, bought for what?”
Valentin grinned, “I want you and your friend to go with me to the Black Veil Brides concert next week.” “Ugh not you too, wait, we can’t go next week. Angela said the concert was Friday night. We’re going to be busy on Friday.” Valentin grinned like a fool, “Not if you tell your parents you’re going out with me that day.” Kaili frowned, “But I don’t want to go!” “Don’t be like that. Please! I’m sure that you’ll like them once you get to know them.” “Get to know?” Valentin grinned, “Yeah, I got VIP and backstage passes.” Kaili frowned, “I guess I better tell Angie the big news.” “You better. Now come on.” “Where are we going?” “Grocery shopping.” Kaili looked at her half empty burger. “Okay.” “You can eat that later.”
