Remembering Yesterday

Zoey grinned, “That’s a great idea! We’ll have a slumber party.” “What about the guys?” She shrugged, “They can have their own party.” Sammi laughed, “Okay.” “Maybe we can camp out in the backyard.” “Or watch scary movies in the living room!” “Oh that’s a great idea!” “But when?” “Well I don’t think we could do that today, the other guys will be here soon and you know how they are.” “Yeah, they’ll probably stay the night.” “How about I call you and we can plan it out better?” “That’s a great idea!” Zoey patted her pockets and frowned, “Shoot, I left my phone in Andy’s room. Hold on, I’ll be right back.” Sammi nodded as she flipped through the channels on the TV. Zoey ran up the stairs and high fived James as he ran down. “Are the guys here yet?” “No, just Jinxx.” “Where?” “Kitchen.” Zoey ran into Andy’s room humming the new song.

Andy pressed the call button for the third time. “Can I read the song?” Andy nodded and handed a notebook too Jinxx. Andy grinned as he heard Juliet’s voice on the other line. “Hey! It’s me.” Jinxx stared to read the song nodding. He could already picture the rhythm and the guitar solos. Maybe they could fit a drum solo in there somewhere. He looked at Andy once he sat the phone on the counter. “So...how’d it go?” Andy shrugged, “She took it pretty well actually. I’m pretty surprised.” James leaned against the door frame, “Really?” Jinxx jumped up startled dropping the beer he was holding. “Fuck! Dude, make some noise or something. You made me spill my beer.” James laughed, “Sorry. Was that Juliet?” Andy nodded, “Yeah she took the break up thing pretty well.” James sat next to him thinking. “That’s...odd.” “Yeah I know.” “Hopefully she’s not one of those crazy ex- girlfriends who wants revenge and ends up trying to kill Kathie, along with some idiot who helps her.” Andy and Jinxx looked at James confused. “That’s some prediction you made there.” “I read it.” “Where?” “Online, it’s a pretty intense story.” Andy nodded, “Well, I’m sure that won’t happen.” James shrugged, “It ends well though.” “How?” “Well the crazy bitch gets killed and Charisma ends up being pregnant. And they all live happily ever after.” “Well I still think that won’t be happening anytime soon.” “How do you know?” “Well Kathie isn’t pregnant, and I don’t think Juliet is crazy.” “The girl in the story didn’t appear crazy. And Luke didn’t know Charisma was pregnant until the very end, when they saved her.” Jinxx and Andy looked at each other. Andy ran out the kitchen ran upstairs. “Kathie!”

Andy ran into his room laughing as Jinxx fell behind him. “Kathie!” He laughed clearly amused by the situation, he put his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath “In case Juliet kidnaps you and tries to kill you like the story James read, are you by any chance pregnant?” Andy frowned as he saw Zoey’s phone on the bed. He looked up as he saw two shadows near the window. He felt his heart stop beating. He looked into Zoey’s eyes that were full of fear. No, not again. Mrs. Parker smirked as she pointed the gun at Zoey’s head. “I warned you to stay away from my Zoey. I won’t let you taint her with her darkness.” Jinxx ran in laughing, “So what did she say?” Jinxx stopped dead on his tracks. “Shit.” He watched as Mrs. Parker smiled as she put her finger on the trigger. Andy shook his head, “No, don’t you dare touch her!” Jinxx grabbed Andy as he was about to tackle Mrs. Parker. Jinxx whispered in Andy’s ear, “Are you crazy? I know you want this crazy lady dead, but if you try to touch her Kathie is a goner.” Andy stared at Mrs. Parker, “Kill me, but don’t touch her.” Mrs. Parker laughed, “Oh don’t worry, I’ll be sure to kill you next.” Zoey tried to talk but that stupid bandana wrapped around her mouth wouldn’t let her. She looked at Andy trying to convince him that everything would be okay. Tammy was still her mom, which meant she wouldn’t kill her, right? She looked into those icy blue eyes that she would never forget. And that’s when she saw realization hit him. He shook his head. Please, she begged, please don’t do anything. I’ll be okay. Didn’t he know that without him in her life she was nothing?
