Bullets in a Music Box

Kelowna, BC

The room was slightly colder than normal but it felt nice on the leather that I was wearing. I fixed the ear piece in my ear as I stood on side stage, waiting for the sound techs to give us the okay to head out. Falling For Fatality are getting our own acoustic show for the rest of the tour, which is like five more dates. Tyler put the whole thing together, last minute, and told us three days ago. My feet bounced in place as I stood there, slightly nervous. I felt someone put their arm around my shoulders and sigh.

“This is exciting,” I heard Zara say and I smiled.

“It is. I can’t believe Tyler is letting us do this, after everything that has happened recently,” I said and she nodded.

“But, because he is letting us do this, that means he thinks we have an actual shot at this,” she said and I smiled.

“Alright guys, we are almost ready for you to head out. Where’s Callum?” One of our sound techs walked up to us.

“I think he’s still in the dressing room,” Zara said. He nodded and walked away. I rolled my eyes and took another drink from my water bottle.

“Are we gonna perform But You Did?” Zara asked. I looked at her and sighed.

“Um, we can, if you want to,” I said.

“Well, it’s a personal song, that’s why I’m asking you,” she said.

“All of our songs are personal,” I told her and she shrugged. I set my water bottle down and stretched my arms. The sound tech came back with Callum and handed me a mic.

“Alright, you go on in one minute,” he said and disappeared. I rolled my eyes and took a breath.

“Okay Callum, we’re gonna perform But You Did as the last song,” I told him and he raised his eyebrows.

“You sure?” He asked.

“Yeah. Andy’s not gonna be at this show, so, yeah, I’m sure,” I said and he nodded.

“Head out,” the sound tech said and we all shuffled out on the stage, which was dark and had a screen blocking us from the stage. I sat down on the chair in the middle, Zara sat on her mini drum box thing, and Callum sat down on the chair with his guitar. Our tour bassist was off stage, but was still going to play. I took a deep breath and then the screen lifted and the crowd that was there, which might I say was quite large, cheered. A big smile spread across my face as the screen lifted. When it was all the way up, I brought the mic to my mouth, a smile still on my face.

“Wow, I did not expect this many people! Thank you for coming out and spending your afternoon with us,” I said and the crowd cheered more.

“So, this whole thing was sprung on us only three days ago, but I am guessing you all knew about it before we did,” I said.

“If they didn’t, I don’t think there would be this many people,” Zara chimed in from next to me. The crowd laughed and I rolled my eyes.

“Anyways. Thank you for coming out, I am excited to be doing this, as well as the tour that we are on with the amazing Black Veil Brides. But this isn’t about them, so let’s get into it. This first song is called Where I Belong,” I said and the crowd cheered really loudly. Zara started the song and quickly the guitar and bass came in. As I began singing the songs, the words floated out nicely and the crowd was reacting to it differently than they do at our shows with Black Veil Brides. Maybe Tyler was right when he said that the fans we play in front of at those shows are only hyped up because Black Veil Brides. But it feels nice to see all these faces watching us, and enjoying it. They bought the tickets to see us play five or so songs, it’s a good feeling.

As the song ended, I smiled into the mic and out at the crowd. When the music stopped, the crowd cheered and screamed at us. I was smiling big.

“You know, I was thinking, you guys came out here today to see us, because we are the only ones performing at this show. And that fact warms my heart. We don’t have any records out, hell we don’t have a single out. But you still bought the tickets to come see us perform our songs. Thank you. You don’t even know how much that means to me especially, but to the band. I hope that when we do release an album, or EP, you guys snatch that shit up like it’s going out of style. But, I’m going to stop rambling now, and we’re gonna get on with the show. This next one is called A Hundred Miles Away,” I rambled on and on before introducing the song. The music started and I scanned the crowd. Everyone was between the ages of 14 and 30 maybe. I began singing and as I did, I scanned the crowd. They were singing along with me. At the shows with Black Veil Brides they sing along, but it was a different feeling here.

I moved the mic from my mouth to over the crowd and listened to them sing the song. Tears began to fall down my face as a big smile grew. Best feeling ever. Then I brought the mic back to my mouth and really got into the song. When that ended, I looked out into the crowd and smiled.

“You guys are fucking awesome. Oh my gosh. Look at me and my tears. I can’t thank you guys enough, damn. Continuing, this is Memory,” I said and Callum and Zara began the music. As the song played and I sang, the crowd sang along with me and there had to be hundreds of people there. A lot of them were taking video or pictures, but what struck me the most was that a lot of them weren’t, they were enjoying the show, which made me all happy inside. As the song ended and I began the next song, the crowd was thriving and having so much fun. Throughout the song, I scanned the crowd, making eye contact with a lot of the fans. Some were almost crying, which made me sad, but I know it’s cause they are happy to see us. When the song ended, I shifted in my spot and smiled at the crowd.

“So, I’m guessing that you guys think that we are only doing four songs. Which was the plan, but then the three of us decided to play a never before heard song that I wrote recently. And I hope you all like it. But before we get to that, I want to let you all know that we are also playing tonight with Black Veil Brides and Falling in Reverse. So come see us there. But before that we are doing a meet and greet here, by the gates you came in. So, come meet us, get some pictures, talk with us. I promise, we are awesome people, now, to the song. It’s called But You Did,” I said and then the music started. The song itself is a very acoustic and very soft sounding song. When the words began to leave my mouth, all the emotions hit me all at once and I heard my own voice cracking and tears began falling down my face.

The song ended and the crowd was almost in tears. We all stood up and bowed to the crowd before walking off. Once I was out of view, I stopped walking and squatted down to the floor. That song just brought back every single thought and emotion I had while the whole thing with Andy and me was going on.

“You okay there Sadee?” I heard someone ask and I nodded.

“I’m good, just need a moment,” I said and sat down on the floor.

“Was it the song?” Zara asked as she crouched down next to me. I nodded and she put her hand on my shoulder.

“It’ll be okay. Have you shown it to Andy yet?” She asked.

“No, I don’t know if I can. Considering that just singing it makes me this emotional. And Andy isn’t even here,” I said.

“True, maybe wait a few weeks or something, but it’s a good song Sadee, I really like it,” she said.

“Yeah. Okay, let’s go do meet and greet,” I said and Zara helped me off the floor. We both walked through the backstage and out to the gate area where they had a backdrop and booth thing set up for our meet and greet. When we got there, I saw that the guards had the fans lined up in two neat lines. I sat down at the table that was in the booth and grabbed a sharpie. The guards let the first few fans in and they came down the line and we signed things, took pictures, and chatted. It was a nice time.

The meet and greet lasted maybe an hour. After that, we were immediately shuffled out to a car that took us to the venue, which was a twenty minute drive. Once we got there, we were immediately ushered into the building and to our dressing room. When we got there, I climbed in the shower quickly and changed into my outfit. Zara was lounging out on the couch and Callum was sitting on the floor.

“So that show was awesome, right?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m glad that Tyler did that. And I love that half of the profit from the ticket sales and all of the profit from the merch sales from that show go to us,” Callum said. I quickly turned to him and widened my eyes.

“Wait, seriously?” I asked.

“Seriously. He said that since it is just one show and he is friends with the people of the venue, we didn’t have to pay to play there,” he said.

“Hmph, this is why I love having Tyler as my brother. I’m gonna go find Andy,” I said and they nodded. I left the room and walked down the hallway towards Black Veil Brides dressing room. Once I got there, I knocked on the door lightly and walked in. Only Jake and Andy were in there. Andy was laying on the couch, on his phone.

“You are so lazy, holy damn,” I told him and he looked at me.

“Says the one who doesn’t wake up until noon,” he said as he shifted and sat up so I could sit next to him.

“Not today, I was busy at noon,” I said and sat down next to Andy..

“That’s right, how was the acoustic thing?” He asked. He looked at me and crossed his arms.

“Amazing. There was a couple hundred people there. And they were singing our songs. I got emotional on stage,” I hid my face in his shoulder and he chuckled.

“It’s okay to get emotional on stage. It means you care. So you did four songs, that’s it?” He asked.

“Well, we did five,” I said.

“Five? What’s the fifth song?” He asked.

“A new song I wrote,” I said. I should tell him about it. Not necessarily tell him the lyrics, but just what it’s called.

“Really? Can I hear it?” He asked.

“It’s not really ready, we were just testing it out. I need to still fix up the lyrics,” I said.

“Oh fine,” he said before wrapping both of his arms around me tightly and shoving his face into my neck. I kissed the top of his head and sighed.

“Why are you sighing?” He muttered into my neck.

“I don’t know,” I sighed and he looked at me.

“You have something on your mind, what is it?” He asked.

“Nothing important. I’m tired, I’ve been awake since like eight this morning and I’ve already performed once and did an hour long meet and greet,” I said. Andy looked at me for a while before sighing himself.

“Fine, but you will tell me what is on your mind later,” he said. I nodded and hugged him.

“You two have the weirdest relationship,” I heard Jake say.

“Oh jeez, I forgot you were in here,” I looked at him and he flipped me off.

“Nope, that’s Andy’s job,” I said. He rolled his eyes and got off the chair he was sitting on.

“We should probably head out to the stage,” I said.

“I don’t have to, you do,” Andy said.

“Biersack, don’t sass me,” I said.

“I do what I want Nashville,” he said.

“Fuck you,” I said.

“Gladly,” he smirked and I rolled my eyes and got off the couch. Andy followed me out of the room and to the stage. Once we got there, I was immediately handed my ear pieces and a mic. As I situated my ear pieces, Andy wrapped his arms around my waist loosely. We stood there, alone, for maybe a minute before Zara, CC, Callum, and Jon all walked over by us.

“Good evening Sadee. I’m hoping that the acoustic show went well,” Jon said.

“It did, and I am excited to do the other ones,” I said.

“Other ones?” Andy asked.

“Yeah, we are doing them for the rest of the tour,” I said.

“Oh, I thought it was just the one,” he said.

“Nope, Tyler wants us to get our own fanbase and our own leverage in the industry, without you guys,” I said.

“Oh, well, I’ll be at the next one,” he said.

“I hope you are. You’ll get to hear my new song,” I said.

“Now I have to go,” he smirked before leaning down and giving me a kiss. Andy and I are definitely not one hundred percent back to normal, but we are most of the way there, and it feels nice to have him back.

Notes

Well. New chapter. After like a fucking week of waiting. I am so sorry. I literally hit a wall and it just said, "Nope, bitch, you aren't gonna write, you're gonna spam watch Grey's Anatomy instead." So yeah. Instead of updating, I've been watching Grey's Anatomy. I feel ashamed. But, I also did have a bit of writer's block. But I am hoping it is gone. My plan is to write about one more of FFF's acoustic sets, a radio interview, a concert, relaxing on the bus, and then of them at home. So yes.

Five more tour dates, but there will be more of the story. I mean, FFF has to record their first EP, and they have to do shit with the studio. I'm gonna bring Charlie back into the story. I think I may be getting slightly bored with writing about them on tour, but I am trying. So yes. I hope you liked it.

I have no questions, except for what you guys want to see for the next five tour dates. Which I have decided to be:

  1. Vancouver, BC
  2. Seattle, WA
  3. Portland, OR
  4. Sacramento, CA
  5. Los Angeles, CA
I hope you are okay with the cities. But yes, send me your ideas of what they should do in those cities, as having to do with the tour of course. :3
