A War Worth Fighting For

Raines POV

"My love, I need you."
"Mmm Jinxx"
He runs gentle kisses down my neck, his arms wrapped tightly around me.
"You are always so busy my love, I feel like we never get this time alone anymore."
"I know Jinxx, I'm so sorry. No more talking, let's just enjoy this."
Slowly he removes my armor, and then his own, leaning me against the wall of our home in the heavens. His fingertips play lightly over the feathers if my wings making me gasp. Taking my legs he lifts me, entering me, moving at a soft loving pace. He buries his face into the crook of my neck as my head rolls back and I tangle my fingers into his hair.
"Oh Jinxx."
"My love. You feel amazing."
The door bursts open, leaving Jinxx and I in complete shock. Andy is standing there, his eyes widen and he turns quickly. "Uh sorry to intrude you guys, but we are needed in the council chambers, urgently."
Without a glance back he strides out closing the door behind him.
"Just fucking great. It couldn't have waited 10 more minutes?"
"It's ok my love. We have all of eternity together."
i look at him, and I see sadness in his eyes. He drops his gaze from mine as he starts getting dressed in the armor we never really seem to take off anymore. I place my finger under his chin, lifting his eyes to mine. "I miss you as much as you miss me. I want you to know that. Jinxx I love you with every fiber of me."
"I love you too Rayne." He kissed me deeply before we continue dressing and head over to the high council.

I push through the golden doors agitated beyond belief. I look at Andy who mouths an I'm sorry, I give him a warm smile. It's not his fault. You know the saying, don't kill the messenger.
i put my Stoney warrior face back on before I turn to the council. I take my seat between Michael and Andy with Jinxx at his rightful place behind me. Only he can stand at my right behind me, he is my mate.
"What is so urgent that it couldn't wait til tomorrow? I was enjoying a much needed night off with my mate."
The elder sitting next to Michael stood and bowed. "My apologies great warrior, but we have some news. Lucifer has been here, and he is asking for our help."
"Help?"
"Balan escaped his confines some time ago and went into hiding. He found another link to the warrior bloodlines and has been breeding very powerful demons."
I stood up in horror, Jinxx comes along side me, mirroring my look. "Our family?"
"No my friends, it was another family, yours is still safe. Your great great grandchildren are still protected by our warriors."
i sigh and flop back into the golden seat. Jinxx squeezes my shoulder and hangs his head in relief.
"So tell me then, why is lucifer seeking our help?"
"these new demons have taken over hell and now it's spilling onto earth. You must return, and you must protect the human race. Your house is still there, return and await your orders."
"Yes elder."

"Oh my lord we are home." Ashely spread his arms wide as we land on the porch of our home. "It hasn't change much these last hundred years or so."
"You can thank our families for that Ash. They've taken extremely good care of it. It'll be weird not having our children here though, it's almost empty." Memories flood my mind of the birth of Justin and the adoption of all of their children, the time when it was just me and my dogs and the night that changed my life forever. I look at Jinxx who is smiling big at the moment.
"It's good to be home my love."
"It is."
