I Swear I'll Never Let You Die

I felt someone's hand twist through my hair and fluttered my eyes open. Dani was asleep on my chest and Andy was absentmindedly running his hands through my hair as he listened to John speak about some song.

"It sounds good man." Andy said. CC and Joe must have left since Andy and him were the only ones. I glanced at the clock to see it was almost eleven.

"Babe?" I said, laying my head on his shoulder.

"Hmm?" He mumbled, closing his eyes and listening to the track playing.

"We've got to get home. Danielle needs to sleep." I said, standing up and placing her in the carrier.

"I know, I know. Let me hear this song and we'll go." He smiled and I nodded, packing a few other things of Danielle's in her baby bag.

"What's this one called?" I asked, picking the carrier up and sitting next to him.

"Nobody's Hero." He replied. A few minutes later the song finished and after saying goodbye to John, we were walking back to the car. "Long day." He whistled as I buckled a sleeping Dani in her car seat. I sat in the passengers side and buckled my own seatbelt.

"You got that right. I enjoyed it though." I said, yawning and taking his hand. He backed out of the parking spot and I closed my eyes.

"Jay, your an amazing singer." He said and I sighed.

"Thanks." I mumbled.

"I know it's not something you do a lot but your just great." He said.

"I just don't know." I shook my head. "It upsets me too much."

"I know it does but babe..you have a talent!" He exclaimed.

"I don't want to talk about it, Andy. I don't want to be a singer." I said, laying my head on his shoulder.

"Alright." He sighed. We rode the rest of the way home in silence. I was beginning to get nervous to see my parents again. I prayed that Amy and Chris somehow got through to them.

Andy grabbed Danielle out of the back as I cautiously walked towards my house. I felt his arm wrap around my waist and I smiled. He was my rock through all this, I needed him.

The lights were still on and the first thing I heard was yelling. "Oh no." I said, looking up at Andy.
"Your not even parents to her anymore! Just because she had a child doesn't make her useless!"

Amy screamed just as we walked inside. Andy handed me the carrier and then grabbed Danielle out of it.

"Put her to bed, and I'll see what's going on." He said, taking the carrier and giving me her. I nodded and walked into the living room, him following.

Amy, Chris, and my mother and father were all standing between the TV and couch, shouting at each other. I quickly passed them, Dani asleep in my arms.

"What the hell is going on?" I heard Andy say. Danielle stirred on my chest as I kissed her forehead.

"Sleep sweetheart. Everything will be fine." I sighed, laying her down in her crib.

"..Andrew, these people! How did they make Jasey? They're awful!" Amy yelled as I walked into the room. I noticed my parents had their suitcases next to them.

"What's happening?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Jasey, we tried. We really did try to convince your parents to accept Danielle, and accept you and Andrew having a family but they just won't!" Chris said, "We can't stand to see people not seeing you for the amazing people you two are."

"If you love her so much, why don't you just become her parents?" My dad said, coldly. Tears immediately pricked to my eyes.

"Why would you say that?" I gasped. "Your supposed to love me unconditionally and accept me for every decisions and mistake I make. But Danielle was not a mistake, she's the greatest thing that's ever happened to us. If you can't accept that, then maybe it is better that you just..leave and never come back."

"That baby was just one of the huge mistakes you and Andy have made. That's why don't love her, and that's why we won't accept her." My dad said. I couldn't stop myself from crying. Hearing my father speak those words was like being shot in the heart. It was the most painful thing in the world.

He walked me down the aisle, and now because of my child he doesn't love me anymore. "Fuck you." Andy said, clenching his fists. "No one gets to talk to my wife that way."

"I can talk however I want." My dad seethed.

"Yeah well you know what? I swear to god if you ever step foot into my house, near my wife, or my kid again I will blind you." Andy said, moving towards him.

"Is that a threat?" My dad asked.

"That's a promise." Andy said, as my dad got in his face. Andy looked down at him since he was much taller.

"Look, we don't want to leave on bad terms but I think we should say goodbye." My mom said, pull my dad back. I grabbed Andy's hand and did the same.

"We have nothing to say. Your selfish, awful people. Just go." I said, feeling Amy take my hand. Chris put his hand on my shoulder.

My parents picked up their bags, and left. Without a word, they left their only remaining daughter behind like I was nothing.
