Happy Little Pill

Fifteen Hours Later

The moonlight shined through the window over the boards. My shoes were thrown to the side and I was pacing the room. Andy had his hands over his face and a sigh escaped his mouth.

"Come on Andy, you have got to have something to write about," I said.

"I don't, that's why Dan hired you," he said and looked at me.

"Ok, we've been doing this for over twelve hours, maybe we should sleep on it, we got some stuff done, but not enough," I muttered the end and Andy sighed,

"I knew doing this project was a bad idea," he said and sat up.

"Andy, this isn't a bad idea, you just need something to, I don't know, get you out of the funk you say you are in," I said and set down the notebook.

"What I need is a drink," he said.

"Well, you can get that yourself, I have to get home," I said before going to grab my shoes.

"Same time tomorrow?" He asked. I nodded and pulled on my boots quickly and grabbed my purse.

"Of course, and tonight I will write some lyrics to consider tomorrow," I said.

"Alright, have fun," he said. He was still sitting on the chair, not making any effort to move. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room and down the hall. Today was extremely stressful. Andy is so stubborn and he doesn't know what he wants. Maybe if I write a song about Juliet he will get out of the funk. I climbed into my car and started it. From inside my purse I heard my phone ring.

"Hello," I said into the microphone.

"Hey, are you almost done?" I heard Colton asked.

"Yeah, I'm heading home now, sorry it took so long," I said and turned onto the road.

"It's all good. Did you get anything done?" He asked.

"Not a damn thing," I chuckled and stopped at a red light.

"Do you and Andy get along?" He asked.

"Yeah, but he is so stubborn and weird," I said and Colton chuckled.

"He's a musician, of course he is. I ordered some Chinese for us. Wanna grab some liquor on your way home?" He asked.

"Yeah, yeah, any special requests?" I asked.

"Nah, you decide," he said and I smiled.

"I'll see you at home," I said and hung up. The liquor store was just down the road. When I got there, there was a line out the door. It's Tuesday, why is everyone getting alcohol? I got to the end of the line and rubbed my arms. It's cold in LA tonight.

"Do you know what's going on?" I heard from behind me. I turned quickly and came face to face with Andy, again.

"Seriously? Go home Andy, sleep," I said.

"I want liquor. But seriously, do you know what's going on?" He asked.

"Not a clue," I said and he bit his lip ring.

"If this line doesn't move in the next minute, I'm leaving," I said quietly after a few minutes.

"I have alcohol at my place, wanna come grab some?" Andy asked.

"If you have alcohol at your place, why are you buying more?"

"I get bored," he shrugged and I sighed.

"No, Colton is waiting at my apartment with food, I should get home," I said. He shrugged again and I turned from the line.

"Instead of going to the studio tomorrow, come to my place, we can write there," Andy said and I looked at him.

"Is Dan okay with that?" I asked.

"I don't give a shit what Dan thinks, you up for it?" He asked.

"Why not, where do you live?" I asked. He quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket and handed it to me.

"Give me your number and I'll text you the address," he said. I rolled my eyes and sighed before typing in my number and handing him his phone.

"See you tomorrow," I said and walked to my car. I swear, Andy is the weirdest human I have met.

I walked up the stairs to my apartment as quietly as possible, but missed a step and tripped.

"Ow," I mumbled and rubbed my knee. The door to my apartment opened and Colton stood there.

"You okay Sade?" He immediately came down to me and helped me up.

"Yeah, just tripped. There was a huge line at the liquor store, I couldn't get anything," I said.

"That's fine, we have food to consume anyways," he shrugged it off and we walked into the apartment. I sat down on the couch and let out a sigh.

"You do know it's almost midnight, right?" Colton asked after he sat down next to me.

"Really? I was there for that long?" I asked.

"Yep, and you didn't get anything done. How much are they paying you for this?" He asked.

"Um, I think it's a flat total of like $160,000," I said.

"Damn, for how long?" Colton asked.

"Um, until we get an album, but they said something about five or six weeks," I said and yawned. Colton smirked and kissed my cheek before getting up and disappearing into the kitchen.

"Chicken or beef?" I heard from the kitchen.

"Chicken!" I called back and slumped over on the couch. I closed my eyes for a second and then the couch moved.

"No sleeping yet! We have food to eat," Colton exclaimed and I groaned.

"Why are you so awake? It's midnight," I said.

"Because I got a promotion," he said. I immediately sat up and stared at him with my mouth wide open.

"What? When?" I asked.

"This morning when I went into work my boss called me to his office and said he wants me to lead a specific article series," he said.

"Which one?" I asked.

"Music," he said.

"Shut up! Music? Really?" I had this big smile on my face and he nodded.

"And I was hoping you would be willing to do an interview with me for my first article," he said.

"Me? Why? I'm a no one in music," I said.

"Sadee, you are the daughter of Lori Ann Christian, yes you are someone in music," he said and I swallowed and sat back.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing, I'm just tired. I'll eat in the bedroom," I said and grabbed my plate and disappeared down the hall.

"Sadee, what did I say?" Colton's voice sounded through the apartment.

"It's nothing Colt, I'm just tired," I said.

"It's your mom, I know it is," he said and climbed in the bed next to me. I looked at my food and felt a tear fall.

"Babe, come on, I know being compared and linked to your mom isn't what you want, but, she's famous, she owns a record label, I don't think it's a bad thing," Colton tried to make me feel better but it was only making me more mad.

"It's not a bad thing? Really? I don't even write country music! I write my own music, and I don't want to be associated with that woman," I said and walked out of the room.

"Sadee, whoa, you are blowing this out of proportion, I know you don't like you mom, but, being a songwriter is awesome, you just need a small push," he said.

"'A small push'? A small fucking push? I am working with the singer of a well known metal band! I am working with a record label on a project with them. My songs are going to be sung and on an album! I have my small push, and it's name is not Lori Ann Christian!" I yelled and Colton put his hands on my shoulders.

"Quiet down, it's after midnight," he said.

"I don't care. I just got done with an extremely long day in the studio with a man who doesn't know what the hell he wants in this album. He is stubborn and sarcastic. Any idea I shot to him he shot right back down. I don't need to be associated with my mother!" I yelled again.

"Sadee, look, I'm sorry, but you know how famous your mom is, and I wouldn't think it's a bad thing if my mom was like that," he said. I stared at him and swallowed.

"We have been together for two years now, and if you don't understand why the hell I don't want to be associated with my mother, than our relationship meant nothing," I said and grabbed my purse quickly.

"Sadee, where are you going?" Colton asked.

"I don't know, but I don't want to be here," I said and walked out of the apartment and down to my car. Once I sat down in my seat, the tears began to fall and I quickly wiped them away. How the hell doesn't he understand my feelings towards my mom? I have told him time and time again. I slowly pulled out onto the road and drove. I have no idea where I am going, but, I need to get away.

Notes

Second chapter. Not quite sure if it's as awesome as the first chapter, but yeah. So Sadee and Colton are at odds. Next chapter entails Andy and Sadee talking for a while about her feelings about her mom, and then writing a song about her mom. Oh and her mom is going to call. Man I am surrounding the next chapter around Sadee's mom. Sorry.
