Happy Little Pill

First Day

The sweat in my palms was making it difficult to get anything done. I shuffled around my apartment quickly and anxious. Today was my first day working with Andy and I was nervous. I carefully reached up to the top shelf in the cabinet to grab my coffee, but even on my tip toes, I was too short. An arm reached past mine and then another arm snaked around my waist.

"Colton, I would have gotten it," I said with a chuckle. He kissed the top of my head and handed me the coffee.

"No you wouldn't have. You are too nervous," he smiled and I sighed.

"Well wouldn't you if you were going to be working with a famous singer on a side project?" I asked before getting to making the coffee.

"Well yeah, but I don't do music, so I guess I'll never know," he smirked and opened the fridge. Colton worked at a local journalism place. He was creating articles for magazines and taking pictures.

"Babe, you have a good voice, you should try out at the label when they have open signing next week," I told him and he let out a laugh.

"As much as that would amuse you, I'm gonna have to pass. I have a big story coming up and I can't focus on anything else. Well except for you of course," he pecked my lips with his and leaned against the counter.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Nine, why?" He asked.

"Dammit! I have to be there at nine fifteen!" I screeched before running back to the bedroom and grabbing whatever clothes I could find and pulling them on. It turned out to be a loose blouse and a tight black mini skirt. I guess it works. I grabbed a pair of my heeled boots and walked out to the dining room. Colton was sitting at the table, a cup of coffee in his hand and a plate full of eggs in front of him.

"You looked like you planned that outfit," he said and I chuckled.

"I did plan an outfit, just not this one. Where's my purse?" I looked around the room and Colton pointed to the couch. I turned and a smile spread across my face.

"What would I do without you?" I asked as I grabbed my purse, keys, and phone.

"Probably die," he said.

"I wouldn't die! I would just be extremely lost," I said and quickly gave him a kiss.

"Bye Sadee, have fun. Text me when you're done," he said as I walked out the door and closed it. Okay, the studio is about five minutes away and I probably look like a mess. I climbed into my car quickly and turned it on. Oh my gosh, my first day is like seven minutes away. Holy crap.

I pulled into a spot quickly and turned off the car. A sigh came from my chest and I climbed out. Here goes nothing. I walked into the building and up to the fifth floor, where Dan told me to meet them. I turned a corner and saw a group of people all sitting around on the chairs.

"There she is! Good morning Sadee!" I heard Dan greet me and saw him stand.

"Good morning Dan," I said and they all gave me a look.

"You never said she had an accent," I heard someone say.

"Andy, she's from Tennessee, of course she does," Dan said and then turned back to me. "Sadee, this is Andy. Andy, this is Sadee, your new writing partner."

"Hello there Sadee," Andy held his hand out and I shook it. His blue eyes sparkled in the light and his hand ran through his black hair.

"Okay, let us get to work, shall we?" Dan said and pushed Andy and I into a studio space.

"So this is what you are to do for us Sadee. Andy here seems to have come to a block in his writing and creativeness. Your job is to help him with that. You have great material, from what I read, and you can bring great inspiration to Andy here. I'm gonna leave the two of you alone while I grab some coffee and food, have fun," Dan explained quickly and left the room. I stared at the boards and then my eyes shifted to Andy. He was staring intently at me while he lounged in the chair, his hands clasped together. A half smirk rested on his face and his eyes were squinted.

"What?" I asked.

"What? Oh nothing. You just look more, I don't know, not rock material," he said after shifting his eyes to the boards.

"Well, I'm not necessarily 'rock', but I'm not country," I said.

"Really? Cause the whole innocent country girl look you got says different," he chuckled and I sighed.

"Alright, we're gonna get one thing straight. I may be from Tennessee, and I may be Lori Ann Christian's daughter, but I am not country. I am more, I don't know, vintage? Hipster maybe. I'm not rock, or metal, but I can write that way," I told him and he held his hands up.

"I believe you," he said and then cleared his throat. "Have you heard my song 'They Don't Need To Understand'?"

"Yes, and I think it's great. How can you not have inspiration to write? You live in LA, you are in a band, and your girlfriend is very pretty," I said.

"You know I have a girlfriend?" He smirked.

"Well, I do a bit of research before I get into anything," I said.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked.

"I do, and I love him very much," I said.

"What's his name?"

"Colton, why?" I asked.

"No reason, you know my girlfriends name is Juliet, so I would think I should know that your boyfriends name is Colton," he smiled and I shook my head.

"Let's get writing," I said.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, who said I was writing today?" He asked.

"I did, didn't you hear me?" I asked.

"Dan said today is for introductions, not writing," he said.

"Well Andy, I was hired to help you write, so we're gonna write," I said.

"Actually, you were hired to be an inspiration and help me get out of this funk, there is nothing in your contract that says you were hired to write," he said. I scratched my head and stared at him.

"I write songs, that's what I do. If I was hired to be your inspiration, I want nothing of it, because your girlfriend or your band stories, or even you should be your inspiration, not me, you don't even know me," I said and he shrugged.

"Take it up with Dan," he said. When he finished the door opened and Dan walked in with one other person.

"This is Kyle, he's my nephew and he will be your assistant Sadee," he said and I smiled.

"I get an assistant?" I asked.

"Of course, you are a writer for Andy, you deserve an assistant if you have to deal with this one all day," Dan chuckled and handed Andy a cup.

"I hope a caramel mocha is okay," he said.

"It's fine. Um, Andy said that in my contract I was hired to be an inspiration, is that true?" I asked.

"Andrew Biersack, stop telling lies. No that is not true, while it is true that Andy wants that, I hired you to help him write," Dan said and I looked at Andy.

"Told you," I said.

"Whatever," he chuckled behind his coffee.

"Alright, let's get to it," Dan said and sat down on the small couch in the room. This is going to be a stressful job, I can tell.

Notes

Alrighty! First chapter of this awesome story I was thinking of. I hope you like it. I know in real life Andy is fine with writing, but I like it better in this if he hit a wall with writing. I hope you like it!!!
