Happy Little Pill

Stupid Heart

An annoying beeping noise woke me up from what seemed like a nap. When I opened my eyes, I was laying in a hospital bed, wires and tubes connected to me and Andy sitting in the room. I looked over at him and he looked up from the floor. Immediately he got up from the chair and came to my side.

"Hey," he said. I smiled and swallowed. My mouth is so dry.

"Why am I at the hospital?" I asked.

"You passed out in the studio and we couldn't wake you up," he said. I blinked and then coughed.

"How long have I been here?" I asked.

"It's only been like six hours since you passed out, don't freak out," he chuckled and I smiled.

"What did the doctors say?" I asked.

"Your mom and sister are talking to them in the hall right now," he said. At the mention of my mom I became irritated.

"Hey, look at me. She is your mom, she has a right to be worried," he said.

"I guess there's a first for everything," I muttered and shifted in the bed. From out in the hall I heard Lauren's voice, it was loud and angry. Andy heard it too and went to investigate. When he got to the door his eyes got wide.

"What?" I asked.

"Your sister is flat out yelling at your mom. Your mom is crying and silent. The doctor is standing there, confused," Andy told me after he came back to the bed.

"She deserves to know what her children think of her," I said and Andy ran his hand along my face.

"But she's still your mom," he said. I looked at him and then head footsteps come into the room. I looked over and saw a doctor and Lauren walking in.

"Well, glad to see you awake Miss Christian," the doctor smiled and sat down on a rolling chair.

"I am Dr. Lynch and I am your new primary care physician," he told me and then began checking my IVs and such.

"So what's wrong with me?" I asked.

"Well, from the initial tests we did you seemed to have just suffered a major panic attack that forced you unconscious. But, on further checking, and tests, we discovered you have Arrhythmia, which is an irregular heartbeat. That is minor, and we have medications to help with that. But I looked at your medical record and have decided to diagnose you with Chronic Stress Disorder, which is an advanced form of PTSD," he stopped and let me sink it all in.

"I have PTSD?" I asked.

"Yes, um, it might have been caused by the domestic abuse you received a few weeks ago, it might have been from something in your childhood, but you do have it and I am recommending that you consider getting a therapist or psychologist to help you deal with the stress from whatever caused it. The Chronic Stress combined with the Arrhythmia is what made you become unconscious," he said and I nodded.

"What does this mean exactly?" I asked.

"It means that you are going to have to be careful when in stressful situations. At least until you can get a grasp on everything with it and can handle stressful situations better, if that makes sense," he chuckled and I nodded.

"Alright, we are going to discharge you soon, I just have to write up a prescription for the medication and then you will be on your way," he said and I nodded. He left the room and I looked at the ceiling.

"How are you feeling?" Lauren asked. I looked at her and then felt the tears down my cheeks. She closed her eyes for a second before wrapping her arms around me and hugging me. I cried into her shoulder and she rubbed my back. I knew Andy probably wasn't handling this so well, but right now I needed to cry. When I let go of Lauren, I immediately looked over at Andy and saw he was sitting on the chair, his elbows on his knees, and his head in his hands.

"Andy," I said and he looked up at me, he was crying. Oh no, I can't handle him crying. I held my arms out and he basically sprinted over to me and wrapped his arms around me tightly. We sat there holding each other until a nurse came into unhook me from the machines and such. At that point, he held my hand tightly as they pulled the IVs out and took off the monitors. The nurse smiled at us and then walked out of the room. I laid my head on Andy's shoulder and sighed. He began rubbing circles on my hand with his thumb and I began to calm down.

"Are you two in a relationship?" I heard Lauren ask. I felt Andy look up at her and then shake his head.

"Are you sure, because this looks really intimate," she said and I chuckled.

"We've just been through a lot together," I said and she rolled her eyes.

"Whatever you say Sadee," she chuckled and then Dr. Lynch came in.

"Alright Sadee, you are free to go. Just pick up the prescription at the counter when you sign out, and I would like to see you in a week or two, just for a check up," he smiled and I nodded. As I climbed off of the bed and into my shoes, Andy kept holding my hand. We walked out of the room, hand in hand, and to the desk. I let go of his hand to sign the paper and grab the prescription, but when I was done, my hand found his and we walked out of the hospital and into the car.

"I am serious you two, if you are in a relationship and want to keep it secret, that's fine, just stop with the PDA," Lauren chuckled and I looked at her.

"It's more complicated than that," I said and she rolled her eyes and began driving. When we got to the house, I got out and began walking up the driveway. Lauren drove off and Andy wrapped his arm around my shoulders as we walked into the house. The minute we were inside, I curled up on the couch with a pillow.

"Sadee," I heard Andy say a little while later.

"Hmm?" I muttered and he sat down on the couch next to me.

"I don't care that I just got out of a relationship, or that I was a mess after she left me, I think I might love you and it killed me to see you so mad and angry at your mom, and then watching you fall to the floor, it took me everything in me to not punch the shit out of your mom," Andy chuckled and I watched him.

"What are you saying?" I asked.

"I don't know. I just, you mean the world to me, and it sounds dumb, since we met like a month ago, but I just can't deny my feelings anymore. I want to be with you Sadee, in a relationship," he said. I looked at him and felt my heart smile. It's a dumb expression, but it was true.

"I do too," I said and he got this really big smile on his face. He was proud of himself, I can tell that. I watched him as he smiled and did a little dance.

"Do I really have to ask formally?" He asked after a while. I smirked and shook my head before planting my lips on his.

Notes

Well, I originally planned to have this chapter in Andy's POV, and have something worse happen to Sadee, but then I was like, nah, be simple. But I did decide to have them get together, please don't kill me! They met a short time ago but they have gone through so much together! If you've read the whole thing you will understand. But yeah, hope you liked it!!!
