HEART OF FIRE

Sophie had a wonderful afternoon with Andy and his band mates watching them working hard and she even had a go in the singing booth and surprised them all with her voice. She also gave CC a bit of advice on beats and being a dancer she knew beats all too well. After, they all asked if Sophie could do a dance for them and after how nice they had all been she couldn’t say no. She decided to do the routine they had not long finished before starting rehearsals, a routine to the song Salute by Little Mix. The boys approved.

Andy drove Sophie home after they had finished at the studio. He pulled up out front and stopped the engine.

“Thanks for a wonderful afternoon Andy,” Sophie smiled, “Your band mates are truly amazing. CC is so funny! Jake is a good laugh too! Ashley is such a flirt!” Andy grinned, “I know and well… it doesn’t have to end here…” Sophie tilted her head in confusion, “What do you mean?” Andy bit his lip, “Well I umm I was wondering if umm you would like to spend the night at mine?”

Sophie smiled and kissed Andy whilst giggling, “Yes Andy I would love to stay at yours!” “Excellent!”

Andy and Sophie both got out of the car and made their way up Sophie’s front lawn to the house. Sophie did her usual, “Hey, I’m home!” call when they entered. “Sophie at last,” Amber came bouncing out of the living room, “I…” Amber stopped dead when she saw Andy. “Hey Amber,” Andy said with a grin. “H-Hi…” Amber said before turning and running back into the living room. Sophie and Andy both snorted with laughter. Karen came out of the kitchen.

“Soph sweetheart you’re home at last did you have a good day College?” “I did thanks mom and I also had a great afternoon with Andy and his friends, and I’m staying at Andy’s tonight.” “Oh…” Karen blinked and nodded, “Yes okay. Do you want something to eat? I’m making Cottage Pie?” “Mm yes please mom!” “Would you like some too Andy?” “Ooo yes please!” “Right then.” Sophie and Andy left her too it.

“I’m going to go for a shower,” Sophie said, “And pack some stuff for tonight. Why don’t you go see if you can get more than a word from my sister?” Andy chuckled, “Okay I’ll try.”

Sophie made her way upstairs, whilst Andy kicked his boots off and went into the lounge. Amber was sat on the sofa watching American Idol. He sat down on the opposite end of the sofa. Straight away he noticed Amber shift a little and he chuckled, “Hey I don’t bite,” Andy said “How come you won’t talk to me?” “I’d rather keep quiet than open my mouth and say the wrong thing and make a fool of myself,” Amber replied. “What makes you think you’ll make a fool of yourself?” “I don’t know,” she said honestly, “I just really admire you and I don’t want you to think badly of me.” “That’s great that you admire me, you’re not the only one in the world. I love every member of the fanbase equally no matter what.” Amber smiled but didn’t say anything else. Andy decided to keep trying.

“Sophie tells me you have lots of our posters on your bedroom wall.” Amber nodded, “Yeah posters and drawings…” “Drawings? What of?” “You and the other guys.” “Really?” “Yeah…” “Could I maybe see them?” For the first time Amber actually looked Andy straight in the face, “Y-You want to see them?” “Sure if you want me too that is?” “Okay…”

They got up and Amber led the way to her room. Sophie hadn’t been kidding, Amber had every poster! As for the drawings, Andy was amazed at just how good they were. He particularly liked one of CC pulling a hilarious face.

“Amber these are incredible!” Andy said, “You have one heck of a talent here!” Amber blushed a bit, “Umm thanks Andy…” “No problem. Which are you most proud of?” Amber hesitated before opening her school bag, getting a folder out and she showed Andy a picture of him that she’d drawn. He was shirtless.

“Wow… that is incredible!” “Thanks…” “No problem. Hey can I ask you something?” Amber nodded, “Ask away.” “Sophie mentioned that your dad is umm well no longer here… can I know what happened?” “Oh that… yeah he was involved in a plane crash,” Amber sat down on her bed, “He was on a business trip to France and one of the plane’s engines failed. No one survived.” “Ouch I’m sorry…” “It’s okay. It was supposed to be a family trip, we were all supposed to have been on there but mine and Sophie’s schools wouldn’t let us have time off so we couldn’t go. If we had… we wouldn’t be here now.” “Gosh…” “It was a hard time. It took mom forever to get over it and pull herself back together. I was really little so I don’t remember all that much.”

Andy was speechless he didn’t know what to say. Amber smiled at him reassuringly, “Don’t worry you don’t have to say anything.” “Then what about the trouble with this Jonathon lad?” “Jonathon was Sophie’s boyfriend. They met about 4 years ago and within a month they were dating. Sophie was really happy for just over a year but then something in Jonathon changed; he began to get really nasty and cruel. After, we found out he was cheating on her with 3 other girls. Sophie was devastated. When she went to confront him, he hit and beat her and then raped her. Afterwards he also did the same to the other 3. All 4 pressed charges and he was sentenced to 2 years.” “But now he’s out…” “Yep and he threatened her and she’s really frightened.” “I won’t let him harm her.”

“Food is ready!” Karen’s voice suddenly called from downstairs.

Amber jumped off her bed and banged on the bathroom door, “Sophie food is done!” she yelled before skipping off downstairs. Andy chuckled, seemed like Amber had come around. He grinned, deciding to leave Amber a little surprise. He pulled a marker pen out of his jacket pocket and signed the bottom of one of the posters. He’d just put the pen and away and left the room closing the door behind him when the bathroom door opened.

“Oh… Andy… Hi babe… were you just in my sister’s room?”

Andy nodded, “She was showing me her posters and drawings.” “Oh so you got more than a word out of her then?” “Yep she came around.” “Good glad we’ve got the awkwardness out of the way, now I need to go get dressed.” “But you look sexy in just a towel,” Andy grinned. Sophie giggled, “Naughty!” “Oh babe you ain’t seen nothing yet.” Sophie blushed as she passed Andy and went to her room. “Can you do me a favour and ask my mom if Pugsley has been fed today?” Sophie asked before she shut her door. “Umm yes?” Andy replied confused. “Thanks!” “Welcome?”

Andy made his way downstairs where Karen was dishing up. A wonderful smell filled his nostrils. “Wow that smells wonderful.” “Thank you Andy!” “No problem. Oh umm Sophie asked me to ask you has Pugsley been fed?” “Oh yes of course he’s eating right now,” Karen smiled and pointed to the floor. Andy looked to see a Pug munching away on a bowl full of dog food. “Right…”
