Destiny's Kiss

Anxiety

I woke up with my head throbbing, and a vacant mind. I stumbled out to the kitchen to get a glass of water. I emerged back into my room and sat down on my bed, breathing in heavily. I picked up my phone to see if anyone had messaged me and found no notifications. I’m so popular.

I paced back and forth in my room a few times, arguing with myself in my head. I took another gulp of water and found Ashley’s contact in my phone.

“I hope it’s not too early,” I mumbled to myself, while the phone rang in my ear. After two rings, he answered.
“Hello?”
I put up my wall of fake confidence and responded, “heyyy, sweet thing. It’s Crystal, the girl you met outside the mall.”
“Oh, hey! I’ve been waiting for you to call.”
I giggled. “Hehe. Yeah, I bet.”
“How are you doing?”
“I’m doing alright. How are you doing?”
“I’m doing pretty well. Got any fun plans for today?”
“Nope, I never have fun plans-- I’m anti-social.” I laughed. I hate people; of course I don’t have any plans.
“You should come over.”
WHAT? “What?” I couldn’t believe what I had heard.
“You should come over.” He wants me to come over!?! Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.
“Where do you live?”
“I live off Y highway. It’s a big, old house that’s down a long driveway.”
“Thanks, that’s very descriptive. That’s only, you know, every house off Y highway.” I’m such a smartass.
“The address is 232 Y hwy.”
“Okay. Well what time do you want me to come over?”
“Now.” WHAT?
“Now?”
“Yeah, right now.”
“I’m still in my pajamas, though.” I HAVE TO GET READY. GET TOOO THE BATHROOOOMMM.
“Then come over in your pajamas.”
“I don’t have makeup on or anything. And my hair is up in a messy bun…” FUUUCCCKKKKK.
“I don’t care—I want to see you.” He wants to see me? Me?
“Seeing as I’ve only known you a day, and you’re super hot, and I’m alien-looking me…I must get ready; put my fake face on, put a nice outfit on, do my hair. Ya know, the usual shit. Then, and only then, shall I venture to your house. I’ll be over in about 20 minutes.”

I make up for having super bad anxiety in pretty much any situation that involves leaving my house, by acting extremely tough—it’s my alter ego making an appearance. No one has ever seen through the act, which is good, very good for me. I usually find myself retreating to bathrooms and silently freaking out, or mentally freaking out. I should probably stop talking in my…I was pulled from my mental argument, making me jump a bit, when Ashley spoke.

“Fiiinnee.” He pouted.

I proceeded to get ready as fast as I could. Throwing clothes all over my room, shuffling through my closet, trying to pick out the perfect pair of underwear; I was frantic. All of the mess making occurred while I was also trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was going over to a famous person’s house. Not just any famous person: Ashley-fucking handsome-ass-Purdy’s house. And to make matters a million times worse for my lovely anxiety, and social awkwardness, ANDY FUCKING BIERSACK was going to be at his house.

Kill. Me. Now.

I slowly walked out my front door and into my car. I couldn’t focus; my mind was filled with so many things. I couldn’t breathe very well either—I tried hard to take deep breaths, but nothing was helping. My hands were shaking, and my throat was dry. What had I gotten myself into?

I drove down the winding country road until I saw the address he had given me on a mailbox. It wasn’t but a mile or two down the road from mine. I pulled into the long, dusty driveway that lead to the huge, old, farm house. Its presence was completely alluring, and left me almost mesmerized.

The situation became reality, and hit me in the face like a ton of bricks, when I saw Andy standing in front of the house smoking a cigarette. My heart skipped a bit and I lost my composure. He was shirtless, with a pair of ripped up black skinny jeans on. He looked so handsome standing there silhouetted by the sun. The smoke he had just inhaled off the cigarette was rolling out of his mouth in a smoke cloud. It took my breath away peering over at him while I drove.

I pulled up next to Andy’s Challenger and shut my car off. I tried hard to regain my breath before I stepped out of the car. I glanced up from fiddling with my seat belt to realize he was walking over to my car. Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit. Be cool, Crystal. Be cool; calm down.

I gathered myself enough to open my car door, and soon enough, he was holding it open for me to get out of. Put on the confidence act. AHHHHHH! I stepped out of the car wearing this.

My composure returned and I said, “hey you,” while smiling at him.
“Hey.”
“Did Ashley tell you I was coming?”
“No. But it’s a pleasant surprise.” He smiled back. Holy shit, that’s not a fake smile. My stomach did jumping jacks at the thought that he actually smiled at me. Be cool man, it’s just a smile.

I followed him towards the large house, and when he reached the front door, he held it open for me. How fucking sweet of him!

“Thanks.” I meekly said, walking towards the open door.
“My pleasure.” Andy replied, bowing. It made me smile and let out a little giggle.
“Holy shit, did you just giggle?” Startled, I peered up. Ashley was standing in the kitchen, and looked up at me, smiling.
“No, not at all….I don’t giggle….I’m tough.” I remarked, smirking. He rolled his eyes, letting out a little chuckle, and I walked inside.

When you first walk in, you walk into an entrance room. Straight ahead is a huge living room. To the left of the door is an open, galley kitchen, with an island and breakfast bar dividing the kitchen from the entrance room. To the right is a hallway; down the hallway are three doors. On the other side of the hallway entrance is a huge, oak staircase. It looked like a magnificent house so far.

Andy walked in behind me and over to the sofa, plopping down and pulling out his phone. Ashley walked over to me and gave me a hug. Before our hug was finished his phone started ringing from his back pocket. Damn, I was enjoying that.
Pulling the ringing phone from his pocket, he said,“I gotta take this.” He walked off and disappeared into a room down the hall-- his bedroom I take it. Curious, I began looking around the living room. It had a nice, black leather sofa, and matching loveseat. Hanging on the wall was a huge 60” flat screen TV, complete with a surround system hanging next to it. The walls were decked out with all kinds of posters, pictures of the guys, shelves of awards they had won. It was marvelous to see so much of the Black Veil Brides history throughout the place.

I peered over to where Andy was sitting; he was still fiddling away on his phone. The socially awkward Crystal had no idea how to strike up a conversation. Uhhhh. Uhh, what do I say?? I started searching my brain for topics, but was totally lost. What is a good thing to say to an extremely handsome man, that’s slightly intimidating with his pure awesomeness?
Ashley came walking out of the room at a fast pace-- he looked frantic.
“I hate to say this since I invited you over to hang out Crystal, but I have to go. A good friend of mine was in a car accident, and is in a hospital up in Kansas City.” A terrified look flushed over his face. I felt sad for him, and couldn’t imagine how he was feeling.
“Oh no, Ashley.” I scurried over to where he was standing his hands covering his face. I wrapped my arms around him, and he hugged me back, resting his face into the crook of my neck.
“I’m sorry.” He said into my neck.
“Ashley honey, its fine; go be with your friend. You need to be there, so there is nothing to apologize for. I’ll see you some other time.” He pulled away from the hug and began searching his pockets for his car keys.
“Promise you’ll come see me sometime?”
“I promise.”
“Good.” He turned to Andy, “bye Andy. You have the house tonight; don’t burn it down. Bye Crystal, stay sexy.” He winked at me, and flew out the door.

I sulked over and collected my purse off the kitchen counter. Even though I had been so worried about coming over here, and had only been here for about 20 minutes—I didn’t want to leave. I hung my head as I walk back over to where Andy was sitting, looking up at me.

“Uh…well I guess I should go now. I don’t want to impose on your evening. Bye Andy.” I gave an awkward wave, and started making my way towards the door. As I looked back at him the look of broken came flooding into his blue orbs.

“Are you going to be okay here?” I asked, genuinely concerned. He ran his fingers through his hair and peered up at me.
“Yeah, who doesn’t love being alone.” Sarcasm laced his words.
“Do you want me to stay?”
“It would be nice to have someone here.”
“Well…then I shall stay.” It made me smile realizing I wouldn’t have to go home and be alone.

We sat on the couch talking and getting along great. He still seemed pretty down, but he was smiling genuinely. At about 10:00 Ashley returned, looking very happy.

“Honey, I’m home!” He bellowed as he walked in the door.
To be funny, I ran over to him, wrapping my arms around his neck, and said, “oh, honey, I’m so glad you are home! I have missed you so!” He and Andy both laughed.
“So how’s your friend doing? I thought you were going to be staying overnight at the hospital?” Andy inquired.
“I thought I was going to, but luckily my friend walked away with only a broken arm. Which, I think calls for a celebration!” Ashley had a look of excitement plastered on his face. It made me giggle a bit.
“You want to throw a party?” Andy didn’t seem too thrilled at the idea.
“Yeah man, I have it all arranged already. We are going to throw a KILLER party! I’ve already invited everyone!”
“Do you have alcohol?” I asked.

Instead of answering me, he just walked over to the refrigerator door and opened it. The fridge was completely filled with different types of alcohol!

“Where do you keep the food in this place!?!” I exclaimed. “Speaking of which, I’m pretty hungry.” I remembered that I hadn’t eaten anything all day.

Ashley began dragging bottle after bottle of alcohol out of the fridge, and setting them on the bar. Soon the 8 ft. bar was completely full of booze. I grabbed an open bottle of Jack and took a long drink.

“Damn, girl! Don’t drink it all.” Ashley exclaimed, flashing his cocky smile.
“It’s not like you don’t have 7 other bottles of it.” I remarked back, smirking wildly.

He walked over to me and pinned me up against the bar with his body.
“Can I help you?” I grinned.
“You can help me to the bedroom.” His cocky smile was growing bigger.
“And you can help me get some food.” I weaseled my way out from between him and the bar.

Ashley and I set up for the party, which was now in full swing. Andy had disappeared into the room he was staying in. I made my way upstairs and down another hallway. A door was slightly cracked, so I knocked and slipped inside. I saw him standing on the balcony porch outside a sliding glass door. He was leaning on the railing looking out into the darkness, a lit cigarette glowing in his hand. I slid the door open, made my way out into the darkness, and shut it behind me. He looked back at me, weary eyed and no smile to be found, not even the broken one.
“Hey…are you okay?” I softly asked him.
He shrugged and took a drag off his cigarette.
“I’m not much for partying.” His deep voice rang out after a few seconds of silence.
“Me either. Is that why you retreated to up here?”
“Mostly. It’s just such an enticing night.” He looked off into the darkness once again.
I started searching my pockets for my pack of cigarettes, when I realized, “shit! I forgot my smokes.” I exclaimed, frowning.
Andy reached into his pocket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes. He flipped the top of the pack open and gestured for me to take one. I grabbed one and he flicked his lighter on, lighting it for me. I took a big hit and blew the smoke into the air.
“Thanks hun. So…I can tell something’s going on with you. Is everything okay?”
“It just takes so much to be a human…going to shows, acting like everything is perfectly fine so no one suspects how wrong things really are. Just carrying on throughout the day takes so much energy. Then at night, though I’m so exhausted, I just toss and turn. My mind is such a tortured place right now…” He trailed off, looking down at his feet. “I mean, I’ve battled depression most of my life…but it’s never been this bad.” He let out a little sigh, and took the last hit off his cigarette before he smashed it into an ashtray that was sitting on the railing.
We could hear loud music blaring downstairs, and noticed quite a few cars had pulled up.

“I know exactly how you feel; I’ve battled depression for as long as I can remember. I beat it for a while, but the war wasn’t won.”

He ran his fingers through the hair that was falling down onto his face, pushing it back up on top of his head. He just starred off into space, occasionally reaching up to push the hair out of his face once again.

“Do you have your keys?” I softly asked him. A great idea had bloomed in my mind like a new flower in Spring.
“Yeah. Why?”
“Come on. I want to show you something.” I walked back into his room.
“Let me change first.”

I walked out of the room, closing the door behind me. I saw Ashley coming up the stairs with two blonde girls whose shorts couldn’t get any shorter. He led them into his room, and I heard kissing sounds start emanating out. I chuckled a bit and shook my head.

Andy came out of his room wearing black basketball shorts, black with white trim, low cut, Chuck Taylor Converse, and a white Misfits tank top that had the sides cut out of it. We walked down the stairs, squeezed through the massive crowd of people that had formed in the living room, and out the door to Andy’s Challenger.

Like a gentleman, he walked over and opened my door for me, shutting it when I was safely in the front seat. He got in the driver’s seat and started the engine. His magnificent eyes shined, meeting with mine.

“So where are you wanting to go?” He asked me.
“Drive like you’re driving into town, and I’ll direct you from there.”
