Disney Princess Remix

Sleeping Beauty Part 1

-Andy's POV-

The moon shone brightly in the midnight sky, like a glowing, white rose above perched amongst the scattered, aqua stars. I could feel something, I didn't know what it was, calling me to the garden, away from within the castle walls where I would be safe. I was powerless against the irresistable urge to take another step towards the silver needle waiting temptingly on a wooden spindle...

That was six years from today, something beyond my most insane dreams. I wasn't a prince, I was a common farm boy raised by my three faerie aunts, Violet, Rose, and Flora. Right now, I was ten years old and lost in a storybook, reading under a tree in our huge backyard. We lived in the countryside, away from the palace and king to avoid war, or so I was told at the time. All of a sudden, a voice shook me away from the pages.
"Hello, I'm Ashley. What's your name?" I glanced up to see a boy my age with black hair, deep brown eyes, dressed in plain, brown, somewhat rag-like clothing, staring at me. I was awestruck by the mere sight of him for a few moments before I finally answered.
"Andy. I live over there, in the cottage hidden by those trees and bushes and flowers."
"Oh. I live a bit farther off, where it isn't so nice as it is here, so I wanted to go exploring, and then I found you. I'm ten, by the way. How old are you?"
"Same!" I stood up, brushed myself off, and set aside my book. "Do you wanna play a game or something? I've never actually met anyone my age," I admitted. His eyes widened.
"Never?" I shook my head. "You don't even have any cousins, if not siblings?"
"Nope. I wish I did, though. My three faerie aunts take care of me. They're really nice, but I'm on my own, for the most part."
"I had a little sister at one point, but she died of fever at a young age. Are your aunts really faeries?" I nodded.
"You can meet them, if you want," I offered, and he grinned.
"That would be awesome!" And so we ran to my house, laughing. Was it possible I had just made a friend? This was crazy. I opened the door.
"Flora, Rose, Violet, I made a friend!" I called to them. Flora flittered down the stairs. She had short, curly, blonde hair, gold and green eyes that matched her classic faerie wings, and always wore green dresses with leaf patterns.
"Oh, hello, Andy, who's this you have with you?"
"Ashley," I announced proudly. Ashley's jaw had fallen.
"You're really a real faerie," he gasped in shock. Flora laughed, like the sound of a tinkling bell.
"I'm not the only one in this house. Violet! Rose! Come over here, we have a guest!" She turned back to us. "Would you two like a bit of lunch?"
"Sure," I responded. "Thanks, auntie Flora." She nodded as I took Ashley to the little porch in the back where we could sit at the table for lunch.
"They're really faeries. She can really fly," he murmered, still stunned.
"Yup. Wait, we're friends now, right?" I asked cautiously. I had introduced him as one.
"Course we are, Andy!" At that moment, Rose and Violet both entered to meet Ashley while Flora made lunch. Violet had braided hair the color of ravens feathers, dark skin, indigo eyes mimicking her butterfly wings, and always wore purple dresses. Rose was practically the opposite, with deep red long hair that tumbled freely past her pale shoulders, her eyes were the softest pink and speckled with gold, just like her light wings. She was always in dresses of various shades of pink or red.
"So, Ashley, where are you from and how did you meet Andy?" Violet questioned with her smooth voice.
"Oh, I live a bit farther off. It's not as nice where I'm from, and I work on a farm helping out my parents most of the time. It's not very exciting, but it's life and I got a day off today," he answered with a shrug. Poor Ashley!
"If you want, I can come over in the morning to help you so that you can finish your chores and we can play," I offered. His face lit up.
"Really? You would do that?"
"Course I would!" The five of us chatted all through lunch, and Ashley and I climbed a tree afterwards. Too soon, however, he had to leave. I walked with him to his house so I knew where it was. The next day, I kept my promise, to his joy, and was there to assist him so that we could play later.

-Time skip-Three years-

-Ashley's POV-

Three years ago, I met a very special person by the name of Andy. Well, he told me one sleepover that his real name was Andrew, but he much rather preferred the shortened term. Now, I was 13, and afraid I liked him as more than a friend. Falling in love with him, to be exact. I knew I wasn't supposed to fall for another boy, my parents were expecting me to marry a farm girl, hopefully someone more well off financially than us. They would be disgraced to know the truth. So I kept it to myself, trying not to be too distracted from our conversation by his beautiful face. He was cute when he was younger, but now, he was downright the most attractive person I had ever seen. He had oceanic blue eyes that I was lost in, his midnight hair short and falling over his face in such a way that I felt as I though I was drifting through an eternal dream.
"...we should build a treehouse..." I heard him say in the middle of a sentence.
"Yes!" I blurted out in agreement. "I mean, uh, sounds like a great idea," I covered up awkwardly. Great, nice going, Ashley. You know he'll never like you back, and this is why, I scolded myself. Andy only laughed.
"Well then let's pick a tree and get started." And so we did.

-Andy's POV-

He was so cute. So adorable. I didn't know what it was that I felt for Ashley, though. I didn't have real parents to explain things to me, was what I felt friendship, or something more, as we hammered in the wooden boards that would hold us up? Later, Rose promised she'd charm the finished treehouse, just to make sure it was sturdy enough, and I was grateful because I wasn't so sure if we were doing this right. But if I wasn't careful, I would find a nail buried in my finger as punishment for not focusing and instead fantasizing about Ashley. Ugh, this feeling inside was killing me! I didn't used to feel it, so why was it suddenly making an appearance now? That's it, I'm asking Violet tonight, I thought in defeat. Curiousity was consuming my mind.

I took a deep breath as Violet tucked me in. It was now or never.
"Hey, Violet, could I ask you something?" I asked her just as she was reaching for the door. She flew back and sat on the edge of my bed.
"Of course, Andy, anything. What is it you wish to know?"
"Well... It's just that... I've heard this word before, and I don't know what it means. And I have this feeling inside me that won't go away, and I don't know what it is or what it means."
"You'll have to be a little more specific than that, dear." I sighed.
"The word is love. What does it mean, auntie Violet?"
"Well Andy, love is a very complicated thing. No one knows everything about it. In fact, people hardly know anything at all, except for that it is what binds us all together as a family. There is another type of love, though, that is different, and felt between just two people. That is the most special kind there is. Why do you ask?" Another deep breath.
"I don't know if I love Ashley or not." She smiled, kissing my forehead.
"There will come a time, my dear, when you will know for sure. I promise. You'll know when you're falling in love. You'll feel it in your heart. Goodnight, Andy."
"Goodnight, auntie Violet," I replied sleepily, relieved. Whew. At least I had some sort of explaination.

Notes

Part two coming soon! This was meant to be one chapter, but I ran out of time and decided updating something was better than nothing. Part two will have the dramatic action and stuff.
