Chapter 8 – Part 1

We all waited for word on Madi.

Ashley was pacing back & forth, when a girl with red hair that had black spots walked over to us.

“Is Madi OK?” She asked.

“We don't know. If you don't mind me asking, how do you know her?” I asked.

“We've been friends since high school.” She said, as Ashley stopped pacing & faced her.

“Micah?” he asked.

“The one & only.” she replied.

“Ashley, do you know her?” I asked.

“No, but Madi told me about a girl she knew that was there for her when I couldn't. How did you find out Madi was here?”

“She called me. It sounded like it was one of those calls you would get, when someone was about to commit suicide.”

All of our jaws dropped.

“I got in my car, and drove to your house. On the way, I heard all of the sirens. But when I got to the house, no one was home. This was the closest hospital.”

“W-w-what did she say?” Ashley asked, tears forming in his eyes.
I walked over & put my arm around him.

“That she felt unwanted because you left all those years ago. And she was wanting to reconnect with an ex, but he refused because you were pissed the last time they were together.”
