Love And Other Drugs

Remembering Andy

"Is this the end of us or just the means to start again?...Thanks so much guys!" A voice rang over the system and Luxe smiled as she peeked around the corner.

The venue was sold out and Luxe couldn't help but wonder if it was only because of All Time Low or if these kids were here to see the Dolls as well. They had gotten off stage about thirty minutes before and Luxe's breathing was just starting to calm down. It wouldn't be for long as soon enough she would be out on that stage, singing a song that some other girl had tracked on, but Alex thought it would look good.

Something that had looked pretty awesome and the crowd seemed to love, was the shot in the beginning of Here's To Us. Luxe's was filled with a mixture of apple juice and coke-something that looked identical to the other girl's shots of whiskey. They were okay with it, but Luxe knew Char had been hoping that Luxe would loosen up a bit. She couldn't though-she couldn't fuck everything up again.

Andy was so proud of her-he told her every single day how proud of her he was and that was something that kept Luxe going. She knew that Andy was someone she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and if drugs, alcohol and partying were going to fuck that up, then she wanted nothing to do with it. Luxe chugged the bottle of water in her hands, glancing over her shoulder and sighing as she watched her bandmates party it up.

Char and Mads both had beers in their hands and were flirting it up with the ATL roadies. Both girls were single, which meant this tour was probably going to get pretty wild. Luxe spotted Pixie, in her fluffy dress and bare legs, sitting on one of the amps as she swung her legs back and forth. She had their merch guy-Steve-standing in front of her and the two of them were flirting heavily. Great-that wasn't going to make things awkward or anything. Lulu was beside Luxe, an easy smile on her lips as she watched the ATL guys run around on the stage.

Luxe smiled, tugging her vintage and torn AC/DC shirt-yes, the original shirt-down to cover her stomach as she thought over each guy in the band. Rian, the drummer, was really sweet and made her laugh. He was funny, but in a quiet and clever way. Luxe had bonded with Rian over the few dates they had been on Warped together those few summers ago and she knew that she could lean on him to help her stay sober if she needed to. He had given her the biggest hug earlier that day and Luxe caught him singing along with her in the wings.

Then there was Zack-who was also very sweet but incredibly quiet. He was a health nut, which Luxe respected him for because it was really hard to be healthy on tour. He managed it though and Luxe knew that Zack also had a small crush on Lulu, which was perfect except for the fact that both of them were so quiet and shy. Luxe smirked at Lulu, who's eyes never left her fellow bassist and the singer knew it was only a matter of time.

Jack-Luxe could only shake her head when she thought of Jack. The kid was such a goof and a complete spaz, but he made her laugh. He was the type of person who would put a bra on his head-he had one on that very moment-and walk around. Jack was a friendly person and had been the first out of the band to introduce himself those years ago. Jack also liked to party and Luxe knew he, Char and Mads were probably going to have a crazy time this tour.

Lastly there was Alex and there was so much Luxe could say about Alex. He was the most sarcastic, eye rolling little shit Luxe had ever met and she completely loved him for it. The two singers had connected instantly, which of course had linked the two of them that entire summer. His fans were curious about her-who was this girl seen in photos with our dear Alex?

It was Luxe, a very young and naive Luxe, but it was her all the same. The two of them were just friends and currently he was staring right at her, sitting alone on the stage with his acoustic guitar in his hands.

"This song is called Remembering Sunday." Alex said in to the mic that was close to his lips and the crowd completely went wild at his introduction.

He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past two in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
Leaning now into the breeze remembering Sunday
He falls to his knees, they had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last like the feeling of what he needs

Listening to him sing, Luxe felt her entire body begin to tingle. This song always reminded her of Andy for some reason and hearing it now made Luxe miss him even more. He had called her before she went on stage, listening as she told him of her wonderful fan encounter earlier in the day. He listened and then confessed at how jealous he was of her.

Andy missed his fans-he missed connecting with them in such a way, but he knew that there was just no way he would be able to do something like that.

They would mob him and Luxe was actually really lucky that it had only been those few people out there. Luxe knew that it could happen, but it had been such a great thing and seeing Lissa walk out on that stage to sing with her, but it was something that Luxe would never ever forget. She had made a girl's dream come true and that was something that seemed to sooth Luxe's troubled soul. Luxe was worried that she was going to slip up-fuck up-and completely ruin everything, but knowing that the fans still loved her gave Luxe a sense of courage.

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

The girls in the front row were singing along, never taking their eyes off of Alex and Luxe almost felt bad knowing she was going to go out there and block their view. A sound tech had come up to her, handing her a mic with a long cord. She hadn't used a corded mic before, but because she would walk out with it, Luxe couldn't hold a live cordless and this one she would turn on as she met the very edge of the stage.

The moment was coming and quickly Luxe put the mic down, pulling on her leather jacket before clearing her throat and putting a smile on her face.

The crowd screamed as she walked out on stage, her eyes blinking under the harsh light as she had had time to get used to normal lighting once again. Luxe and Alex shared a small smile as she put the mic up to her lips, looking out in to the crowd as she began to sing a song she barely knew.

I'm not coming back
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,

From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

Luxe had taken a seat on the very edge of the stage and as she sang she reached out and grabbed one of the hands that were held out towards her. The girl smiled, singing along with Luxe as Alex strummed his guitar and as she finished singing, Luxe placed the mic on the stage, jumped down to the ground and reached over the barrier. She wrapped her leather clad arms around the girl who's hand she had held, hugging her tightly before blowing a kiss to Alex.

Luxe walked off, waving to the fans before disappearing in to the backstage area.

"Luxe from The Hollywood Dolls everyone!" He said in to the mic and Luxe only smiled as she grabbed for a bottle of water and chugged it so fast it gave her the hiccups.

It was nothing like her duet with Andy, but that was okay because nothing and certainly no one would ever replace Andy for Luxe.

Notes

Seems like Andy is always on Luxe's mind...

Review to find out when she'll see him again<3

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
