Fallen Angels

We didn’t have to go very far before we were met with our enemy. All too soon the sounds of war rang out. Swords, axe’s, mallets, arrows, you name it were clashing and angels and demons alike were falling all around us.

I didn’t have time to stop. I had to just step around the fallen and continue to fight. I had slain about three demons and a Fallen Angel when I heard Vic’s voice ring out. “We have it sealed.” For a second I thought it was just my mind but when I looked up I saw his group descending on the fight.

If they had it sealed then that meant we had been fighting for longer than I had thought. I looked around and many had fallen but there will still waves of enemies coming. I didn’t have much time to think before a Hell Hound came charging at me. I quickly sidestepped and ran my sword through his body. He let out a yelp and turned to ash. I then turned my attention to a Fallen that seemed to have the advantage over Jinxx. I ran my sword right through his back between his wings and he fell to the ground.

What I had not expected though was for him to turn around and not be a Fallen. Well he was but he wasn’t. He looked like one of the failed experiments. He had a angel body but he face and arms were those of a demon. Jinxx looked up at me in shock. What the hell was this?

I looked around and realized that we had managed to slay all the demons but now we had a real problem. What was charging at us was neither demon nor angel. It was a mix of both. It was the experiments that Lucifer had been working on. They had managed to create them. How? They hadn’t had much time and the last thing we had known was that they were still trying to find a way for them to live. What had changed?

Then I saw her. I knew immediately who was leading this new charge. It was my wife. I tried to reach out with my bond but hit nothing but darkness. It was so consuming that it took my breath away and knocked me on my ass. Jinxx helped me up but it didn’t matter, I was frozen.

I could do nothing but watch as these experiments cut down our people one after the other. We managed to take a few down but there had to be at least 50 of them and it took all we had to take down one. I watched as Alese laughed and helped cut down our people. She had sword but it seemed unbalanced compared to the one that was really hers.

Jinxx was yelling my name but I couldn’t move. I felt so numb. I could only stand there and watch as an experiment sliced one of Jake’s wings and he fell. I could vaguely hear Ellie’s cry cut through the morning. Jack and Alex were the next to fall. They got overtaken by three of the experiments. Jesse rushed to Ashley as he tried to fight one off but she was stabbed in the back and they fell together. Somewhere in the distance I heard CC’s scream which could only mean Carla had fallen. Jinxx crumpled to the ground next to me, a spear sticking out from his shoulder. Moments or seconds later, I’m not sure, Seripha raced to his side to try and protect him. Orion was the next to let out a glass breaking scream. I was surprised when a few of the experiments around her fell to the ground. Then she raced to Vic’s side and held his limp body. It seemed like only Mike and I were the last ones standing. Well maybe, I had no idea where Mike really was.

I fell to the ground as my comrades had fallen. I had no strength left. How could my wife lead this slaughter of her friends? What was really going on? It would seem I would get my answers soon enough as my wife made her way to me.

“Hello husband dearest.” She greeted me. She smiled down at me and for a second I saw the woman I married, that was until I looked in her eyes. They were pitch black, as dark as the night.“You aren’t my wife. What did you do to her?” I spat out, using what little energy I had.“What ever are you talking about? Of course I am. How could you not know me?” She asked as she tried to touch me. I back away from her and she just laughed. “Give me a kiss baby.” She said as she grabbed my chin and forced me to face her.

“NO!” I screamed as I pushed the stranger away. The sudden burst out of me sent her flying back, not even seconds later the experiments around her started catching on fire. “I WANT MY WIFE BACK!” I yelled, causing the wind to whip around me. I got to my feet with new energy.

The experiments, sensing something was off, rushed me. However none of them could touch me. If they got close they either were thrown back by an unseen force or caught fire. This didn’t last long before Alese’s voice rang out over them, “Retreat!”

As she tried to run off, I followed and quickly caught up. I grabbed her shoulder and spun her around. “I want..” Was all I got out as she smiled and vanished.

Her black eyes were the last thing I remembered as I blacked out.

Well this chapter was actually easier to write than I expected. I thought it would be really hard cuz I haven't had much motivation to write. However I am really pleased with how this came out.
