Fallen Angels

Everyone was restless after my speech. We all gathered in the watch tower. Ellie, Mike, Maya, Orion, and Jinxx kept pacing across the floor. Ashley, Seripha, Vic, and Carla all sat quietly watching the others. While Jack, Alex, CC, Jesse, and Jake talked animatedly about the war to come.

“We need a plan.” I stated. They all stopped what they were doing and glued their eyes to me. “I want to lure them out of hell. While they are there they have the advantage. How do we get them up here and more importantly, how do we close off the gate once they surface? There are other entrances I know but if we block off this one then we can finish off whoever comes up and not worry about back up for a while.”

“So we close off the gate and pick them off little by little? Then we retreat, lick out wounds and do it again? Is this what I’m sensing?” CC asked. He always had a keen eye for detail. I just nodded.

I sat back and let it sink it. “We need a distraction to draw them out and keep them busy while the gate is being sealed off. Vic, Ashley, and Carla have the daunting task of sealing it off. Jesse and Orion are to guard them. Mike will be the distraction that lures them out. Once we have them at our door, the battle should be enough to keep them away from the gate long enough to seal it. I don’t want the humans on the battle field. Maya your job will be to lead the humans. I want them on any ranged weapon they can fire. You will be posted up here in the tower with anyone who volunteers. Ellie, you will be in charge of the guards and the patrol inside the sanctuary. We can’t be caught off guard. You will have about 10 guards and will patrol the entire area and make sure we aren’t being attacked by surprise. I will not have them catch us off guard. The rest of us will be at the front. We must lead. This is our battle and we will control it. You are all dismissed. We will meet back up here at 4am. Be ready.” I dismissed them.

I flew out of the guard tower and headed to find my parents. They were standing outside along with Alese’s parents and grandpa. “Andrew.” My mom said as she pulled me into her arms. I hugged her back and turned to Alese’s parents. “I am going to get her back.” I told them. I had not been able to face them. I had sent Jack and Alex to break the news she had been kidnapped. Her mom was in tears and I could tell it was taking all of her dad’s strength not to cry also.

“I know you will.” Her grandpa spoke up. I gave my parents a hug and flew out. I could feel myself getting emotional and with my new power, I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I had no idea how to control it and that scared me.

I flew back to the pond and just sat on the edge, looking down into the water. I saw my reflection. I looked horrible. I was exhausted and had bags under my eyes and my hair was a mess. I ran my fingers through it and they kept getting caught in all the tangles. I sighed. I would have to figure out these powers sooner rather than later.

I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate. I felt something in me stir. I wasn’t sure what it was but I caught onto it and ran with it. Suddenly the win picked up and I could feel my body heat up. I opened my eyes and the wind was going crazy, the water was bubbling, and my hand was on fire. As soon as I saw that I freaked out and ran around like a mad man trying to put it out. Needless to say, that didn’t help much. The wind only got stronger and the water went crazy and started shouting up into the sky.

Once it clicked in my mind that the fire wasn’t burning me, I calmed down. As soon as I was calm, the water settled and the wind calmed with me. I looked down at my hand on fire and ran my other hand through the flames. That hand caught fire but it didn’t hurt. I submerged both hands in the water and put the fire out.

These powers were defiantly tied to my emotions. I was going to have to be extra careful tomorrow or things could end badly. I spent the rest of the night practicing controlling my breathing and other things so I could control them.

4am came too quickly and the next thing I knew I was at the guard tower with the others. “Vic, Ashley, Carla, you guys have everything you need?” They nodded. “Okay I want you guys to go first and hide. Don’t start until you are sure they are done entering earth. I want everyone to be in constant communication. If a problem arises, notify your soul mate and they will alarm the rest of us. Everyone clear on their purpose?” I asked.

They all nodded. I watched Vic, Carla, Ashley, Jesse, Orion, and Mike all slip off. Next was Maya, Jack, and Alex. They were going to get the humans armed and set up. I picked 10 guards and put them under Ellie’s command. They set off to post up and prepare. After we got the humans in place I sent the guards and everyone else to get armed.

I flew off ahead of them and grabbed my swords. I felt a pang of sadness when I moved my sheaths and saw Alese’s sword. I had to control it though because I did not need to light on fire or blow the place down. I took a few deep breaths and headed to the guard post.

“Jinxx, everyone in position?” my voice echoed through the crowd. He flew up above everyone from the front ranks. “Yes. We are ready.”
I flew up to the guard tower. “Maya, notify Mike. It’s time.” She nodded and closed her eyes. A few seconds later she turned to me. “He says he is starting.”

We did not know how long it would take until he could coax them out. I flew to the front of the ranks next to Jack, Alex, Jinxx, CC, Seripha, Ashley, and Jake. We stood there for what seemed like ages. All of us restless and anxious. We had no idea what to expect.

It was dead silent, until Maya’s voice called out, “Here they come!”
“EVERYONE READY UP! IT IS OUR TIME!” My voice rang out.

The crowd erupted into cheers and we raced to face the enemy head on. Little did I know, one of my biggest challenges was racing to meet me head on also.

That challenge was my wife.

Also can anybody tell me where the title is from? It's from mi fav band ever, if you can guess it (no looking it up! that cheating) I will give you a virtual cookie!
