Fallen Angels

“Andy, I can see you. Just give us the girl and no one will get hurt.” Juliet’s voice rang out.
Before I could respond Jake’s voice yelled out, “You are not getting her. We would all die before we let that happen.”

Then Ashley’s voice, “She is one of us. We don’t give up our own.”
Juliet sneered, “You would die for the little bitch? All of you maggots would die for her? Ha pathetic.” “Unlike you, we know the value of a life!” Jinxx yelled.
She snickered, “Life does not matter. In the end you will all die. However you can prolong your life if you would just hand over the girl.”

Alese made her way through the angels and joined me at the front of the group. She intertwined our fingers, “It’s me they want. Let them have me and save everyone.” She whispered to me.

I looked at her in shock. “NO! I will never let him have you!”
“If it..” she started but was cut off by Jesse. “Listen her bitch, we are all willing to risk our lives for you and him. We all joined knowing what that meant. We are not about to let you take the easy way out. Now you WILL stand and fight with us because we aren’t letting you throw you life away.” That left Alese and I both very shocked.

Before anything else could be said, Jesse nodded to Ashley who yelled, “Orion.” She nodded and was in the air in a split second. I couldn’t do anything but watch. I had no idea what was going on but it seemed like Ashley and Jesse had already worked out a plan.

I watched as Orion flew over Juliet and her guards, they tried to fight but they were no match. They weren’t expecting her so they were not properly equipped. She quickly drained them and we watched as they fell to the ground. Orion was practically glowing by this point.

Then Ashley nodded to Vic. He took to the air and went after Juliet, who was shielding her eyes and trying to shoot fire at Orion. Vic blasted her with a stun and she went down. Jake went to fly out and grab her when Ellie’s scream echoed through the camp.

“Get back! Don’t touch her! Everyone get back into the barrier now!” Without hesitation Vic, Orion, and Jake all high tailed it back to the barrier just as an evil laugh rang out and the guards and Juliet’s body exploded. Had it not of been for Vic and Jinxx, we would have all been hit with a poison. They had managed to shield us just in time. Whatever the poison was it managed to eat through the protective barrier and come straight for us.

I looked back down to where the bodies should have been but there was nothing. The only proof that they had been there was the holes in our barrier and the poison that was now eating the ground.

“Carla.” I shouted. She shoved her way through the crowd to me. “See if you can figure out this poison and stop it from spreading.” She nodded and left. “Jack, Alex, get samples of it if you can. Ashley, Jesse, report!”

“No one was hurt. The barrier is a bit roughed up. We have sent guards out on barrier patrols but as of right now we don’t want anyone outside.” Ashley informed me.
“And we can’t find any trace of Whore-iete or her guards.” Jesse finished. I just nodded.

“I want everyone on high alert! They have proven that they aren’t afraid to hit us first and try and mess with us. Well let them come, we will stand and fight! We are not afraid!” my voice rang out over the crowd. They let out a cheer. “I want those of you not patrolling or training to get sleep. We will be working overtime to be ready. If you aren’t sleeping, I want you patrolling or training. They are coming. Jake, Ellie, Mike, and Maya, I need you guys to come with me. Jesse and Ashley you guys have day patrol and Jake will take over nights.”

Everyone nodded and set out. I pulled Alese in for a hug and we all set off to my house. I didn’t go inside though; I walked around to the back. I just really couldn’t be inside right now. They all followed and we sat down by the pond.

“Mike, I need you to get as much information as you can. I need you to see if you can find any bases nearby. Maya, I need you to find any humans who want to fight and send them into training. I don’t want them in the battles but they can help patrol and it will keep some of the tension down. I know they are getting antsy and don’t want to be kept in a room. We will let them help and work off some steam. Jake, you will take over nights at the guard tower.

Ellie, I need to know what you saw.” I said turning to her last.
She gave me a sad smile and Jake took her hand. “I just saw Jake and Vic dying. It was horrible. Whatever the poison was would eat their skin and it was a slow and painful death. We couldn’t find a cure in time and we all watched as they suffered. I just freaked out.” She finished as she started sobbing. Jake pulled her in and held her, trying to calm her down.

“Thank you Ellie. You saved their lives and I know they are grateful. Please you two, go get some rest. Jake has night duty and I assume that means you will be with him.” They nodded and he carried her off to their house.

“Mike, I know what I am asking of you is dangerous, but you are the best suited for the job.” I told him.
“Don’t worry about me. I will be in and out and they will never know. I’m like a ninja.” Maya slapped him and he just laughed and planted a kiss on her lips. “I’ll go out tonight and report back in the morning.” He told me as he picked up Maya and threw her over his shoulder.

She knew it was coming but she still acted surprised and hit his butt trying to wiggle her way out of his arms. He just laughed and carried her off kicking and screaming. I smiled and turned to Alese. She had worry written all over her face.

I pulled her into my arms and just held her as her tears streamed down her face. We stayed like that until the sobbing stopped. I just picked her up bridal style and carried her to the room. I laid her on the bed and went to go make her some tea to help her calm down but she grabbed my shirt and pulled me back down on her.
