Fallen Angels

I continued to run and my heart sped up as I realized that the footsteps were heading to me. I drew my swords as I heard Seripha shout out, “ANDY!”

“Seripha?” I asked, confused. “Aren’t you supposed to be back at the sanctuary?”
“I sent Jinxx and Elli ahead. Mike found me and gave the antidote but went back for you. Is he not with you?”
“No! I never saw him!” I shouted turning back to go back in.
“Andy we have to go. More Fallen are going to be after us.”
“I am not leaving Mike.” I said trying to run back but was stopped by Seripha who grabbed my arm and started dragging me out of the tunnel. “Let me go!” I demanded.
“Andy we have to get to CC he is in critical condition. Mike can handle himself right now. We have more pressing matters.” She told me, still dragging me by my arm.

I exhaled and shrugged her hand off me and followed her out of the tunnel. I had hoped Mike would be standing at the entrance when we got there but I was disappointed. It was empty.

Seripha and I took to the air and flew full speed to CC.

We got to the infirmary and everyone was standing around CC. They let me through when I got there and Alese and Carla was by his side. Alese looked up and I could see fire in her eyes. She was furious. I could feel burning hot rage through our bond. However she didn’t say anything and went back to talking to Carla.

“How is it working?” I asked anyone who would answer.
“He’s not in pain anymore. We decided to keep him asleep until the antidote fully sets in and he starts healing.” Carla said, still not taking her eyes off of him. “Thank you.” She whispered.
“Where is Mike?” Maya demanded pushing her way through the angles until she reached me. I opened my mouth to tell her but she sunk to the floor. “No.” She said, shaking her head. “This can’t be. He had to get out.”

“Maya, I will be going back in to find him. He will be fine. He can handle himself.” I told her trying to reassure her.
“I know him better than anyone. He is strong, he will be fine.” Vic said coming up behind her and helping her up. “Orion, take her to the house and make her some of the tea.” He said. Orion nodded and help guide Maya to their house.

I looked to everyone else. They seemed to be shaken up and worried but other than that they had healed nicely.

“Jinxx, go home and get some rest. I know that took a toll on you.” I said looking at him. He looked dead on his feet. He nodded and Seripha helped him to their house.

“Jack, Alex, I want you two to double up on training. We were unprepared and I don’t want that to happen again.” They nodded and headed out. “Jesse, Ashley, keep up with the guards and the patrol.” They mock saluted me and left. “Jake can you help out Jack and Alex?” He nodded and whispered something in Ellie’s ear and left. “Vic and Ellie, I am asking for your help yet again. I need your help finding Mike.”

“He is fine.” Vic told me. “Maya feels no danger through the bond. We cannot risk using up our time and energy trying to find him. He made the decision to go in there and he will find his way back.”
“How can you be so calm? He is your brother!” I told him.
“That is why I am calm. I have faith in him. We have other things to worry about.” Vic said as he walked out the door. “I will be at my house resting.”

I stood and stared at the empty space that was occupied by Vic just seconds ago. I looked at Ellie who just gave me a small smile. “He is fine for now. That is all I can tell you. I must rest also.” I just nodded and she headed out.

I turned to the only ones left in CC’s space at the infirmary, Alese and Carla. Carla was wiping CC’s face with a washrag and Alese was glaring at me again.

“Carla as soon as he wakes up will you send someone to inform us?” I asked. She didn’t look up but she nodded and started humming.

Alese bolted out the door and was in the air before I could even blink. I sighed and followed after her. I landed in front of the house and could hear loud noises coming from inside. I took a deep breath and opened the door. That was a big mistake.

As soon as the door opened I was hit in the face with a book. In the few seconds it had taken me to follow, Alese had destroyed the house. The living room looked like a tornado had just ran through it and there were kitchen things in the living room. It didn’t stop there. She made her way into the bedroom and started pulling clothes out of the drawers and throwing them everywhere.

I followed her into the room and tried to stop her but she just yelled and threw more stuff at me. I could feel her anger through the bond and it was so strong it was practically burning me. I watched her for a few seconds and realized that I couldn’t do anything for her when she was in this state. I just gave her a sad look and sat on the bed as she destroyed the room.

After all the clothes were scattered, the dresser turned upside down, the bathroom mirror shattered, the living room turned upside down, the kitchen in every part of the house, I felt the anger dissipate. She collapsed in the living room and started crying.

I walked to her and wrapped her in my arms and let her cry. After a few minutes her sobbing stopped and she started hitting my chest. “Let me go.” She demanded weakly. I just held her tighter. She continued trying to fight me but it was weak and she eventually gave up.

“You left me.” she whispered.
“No baby. I went to save CC. I couldn’t let him die.”
“You could have died.”
“I had to save my friend. I couldn’t just sit and watch him die.” I told her, lifting her head up so she was looking at me. “I would do the same for anyone here. They are all my friends and I can’t sit back and watch them die knowing I can do something to save them.”
“I could have lost you. You didn’t even tell me. I couldn’t say goodbye.”
“There was no goodbye. I came right back. I’m here baby. I didn’t mean to worry you but I knew you would try to come with me or make me stay. It was a race against time.”

She sniffled and buried her head in my chest. I just held her and stayed quiet until there was a knock on the door. I got up and a guard stood before me. “He is awake.” I thanked him and he left. I turned to Alese who was wiping her tears and heading for the door.

She gave me a small smile to reassure me and we headed to the infirmary. We landed and Carla was on the bed hugging CC. When he saw us he gave us a weak smile.

“Heard you went through Hell for me, shouldn’t I have bought you dinner first at least?”
“Nah I’m sure there are other ways to pay me back.” I said giving me a wink. He just laughed. “I’m glad you’re doing better. How do you feel?”
“Like I was poisoned. I still can’t feel my wing but I’m glad to be alive.” He said giving Carla a squeeze.

Alese smiled at him as Orion came running in. “Mike’s back.”

So Alese had a break down because I can't do it in real life.
