Fallen Angels

Two Girls, One Fight

Alese and I followed Orion back to Vic’s house where Mike was waiting. He sat on the couch holding Maya and reassuring her he was okay. Vic sat on the chair across from them sipping on some tea.

“Now Andy, before you say…” Mike started.
“What the fuck Mike? You were supposed to get out not go back in! You could have been captured or hurt! Do you have any idea what you put some of us through?” I practically yelled at him.
“I had to go back.” He mumbled, putting his head down.
“Why? What was so important you had to risk your life for?” Maya asked.
“Now guys I’m sure he has a valid reason. Stop hounding him and let him talk.” Vic said as he put his arm around Orion and pulled her into his lap. I sat on the chair next to Vic and Alese sat on the floor and put her head in my lap.

“Yes. Andy you were there. You saw what was going on in their infirmary. I had to know why they were operating. After I gave Seripha the antidote I went back. You had just cut down the giant and slipped through. I waited in the shadows until he moved and slipped back into the infirmary. I watched some of the operations and they were gruesome. The doctors didn’t bother to put any of them to sleep and just tied them down and started working. There seemed to be nothing wrong with them though.

I couldn’t watch anymore so I headed further in. There are back rooms with even worse procedures going on. I can still hear their screams. I continued on until I got to the very last room. It was an office. There were a few doctors in there talking. I couldn’t hear everything but I heard something about how the procedures were going good and soon they would have the perfect race. I was confused so I waited until they left and I went snooping.

I found these.” Mike finished, handing me some papers. I grabbed them and started looking through them. What I saw sickened me. They were plans for different surgeries, surgeries that involved taking apart demons and Fallen and combining them to make them more powerful. The doctors were taking the strongest parts of both the races and combining them into one body. So far many had failed but they were close to success.

I folded the notes up and put them in my pocket. “I am still upset with you risking your life like that,” I scalded Mike, “But what you got was valuable and I thank you. Now go get some rest. Tomorrow we start training over time.” They nodded to me and Alese and I headed out.
“What did the papers say?” Alese asked as we walked through the sanctuary.

I shook my head. “I don’t want to get into it right now.” I said. I know she could feel my worry through the bond but I just didn’t want to talk about it. We walked in silence until we made it to the training arena.

Jack, Alex, and Jake were all fighting against Seripha with Jinxx watching and laughing. I could have sworn I told him to get some rest. We walked over to him and he moved over on the fence and we jumped up and joined him.

“What’s up?” I asked.
“Well I couldn’t sleep wanted to walk so Seripha came with me. We passed by them training and she stepped in. First it was against Jake and then Jack and Alex stepped in. They have been going at it for about twenty minutes.” Jinxx said, glued to the match. I looked around and they had gathered quite a crowd.

“Why aren’t you joining?” Alese asked.
“I’m not much of a fighter and I would just slow her down. She is doing fine on her own.” He said matter of fact, no shame in his voice.
“Well I am going to help.” Alese said, hoping off the fence and sprinting to the weaponry to get her sword. She raced back and jumped into the fight on Seripha’s side. The sound of battle brought more people to watch.

Alese and Seripha worked well together. They fought in sync and seemed to know each other’s moves a second before it happened. Alese also knew Jack and Alex’s moves because they trained her but the same went for them. It was quite an amusing battle. Jack and Alex fought as one while Jake followed their lead. They all seemed to be working up a sweat but no one was backing down. They kept up the same pace until Alese spotted an opening and took it. She knocked Alex’s shield away leaving him exposed and Seripha took that moment to attack Jack. Alese tapped Alex’s chest with her sword, signifying that he was out. He gave her a smile and dramatically faked his death.

While Alese had been busy with Alex, Jake took that moment to try and sneak up on her. Seripha knew it was coming and dogged Jack’s attack and disconnected her halberd and wrapped her chain around Jake’s axe. Alese threw herself at Jack who was trying to attack Seripha and blocked his blow that would have hit Seripha’s wings.

Seripha gave Jake a smile as she flicked her wrist and his sword went flying out of his hands. It hit the ground and a split second later her blade was at his throat. He threw his hands up in surrender, leaving Alese and Jack left. Seripha went to turn and help Alese but she didn’t need it. She had just dogged an attack and saw a weak spot. He was unprotected and she swung the blade up and if she hadn’t of stopped it he would have been cut from his waist to his shoulder.

He smiled and bowed to her. She gave Seripha a smile and both of them started walking back to us.

“I am going to marry her one day.” Jinxx said. I turned to him but couldn’t comment on it because the girls had reached us.

“That was amazing babe!” I told her. “You did well.” I appraised her.
“Well between you and Jalex beating the shit out of me, I would hope I had learned something!” she laughed. “But the real MVP was Seripha. Man she is good. It’s like she knew where I was going and what I was going to do before I did it.” She said giving her a huge grin.

Seripha returned the smile. “Well I did train for about 200 years until I decided to meditate. I hadn’t fought for about 400 years, until Michael woke me from my meditation.” She said, no bragging, just facts.

“Whoever your trainer was did amazing!” Alese exclaimed.
“Well Michael started training me until he decided I needed to expand my knowledge. He sent me all over the world to learn different techniques and religions along the way. He always told me knowledge was the greatest power.” Seripha said. She seems happy talking about Michael.

Jinxx smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. “Ready to go home? I’m hungry and I know you must be also.” She gave him a nod and kissed him on the cheek.

We said our goodbyes and they headed off. I turned to Alese. “Who do we want to see next?”
